2014 Preseason and Regular Season Polls

What will be interesting is to see how much attention the committee actually pays to the games. Baylor scored in the last couple of minutes after picking off Ok. St. who was driving for a score that would have put them within one score. Interesting thing is that this was the first start for a freshman QB for Okie St. So, whose win is really less impressive....

Now that Ole Miss was exposed...
Even if Mississippi State beats Ole Miss, Ohio St. still has a chance to jump Mississippi State by winning big in the Big Ten Championship.
In my mind Ohio State should absolutely jump TCU & Baylor, if they beat a Top15 Wisconsin.

What current top 25 teams has Mississippi State beat?.......... (VS. Auburn)
What current top 25 teams has TCU beat?........................... (VS.Kansas State, VS.Oklahoma)
What current top 25 teams has Baylor beat?........................ (VS.TCU, @Oklahoma)
What current top 25 teams has Ohio State beat?.................. (@Michigan State, @Minnesota)

Only ONE of those teams has beat a Current Top10 team AT their stadium & is playing in a Conference Championship game.
Ohio State. Case Closed. WIN OUT BUCKEYES
(Not to mention TCU & Baylor had SMU (0-10) on their OOC Schedule)

Mississippi State needs Alabama to lose. Otherwise Ohio State will jump into the playoffs if we win the Big Ten Championship.

Watch the CFP committee track them. If you think someone like Condi Rice isn't looking at the polls, Mike, I think you're fooling yourself.
I think the committee would love for tOSU to beat tsun and Wisky and still be ranked outside of the top four by the AP & Coaches. It would allow the committee to put tOSU in the playoff while asserting their independence, so to speak.

Espn would love it too. They get big draw osu in the 'playoff' and 'controversy' to sell on their othrr programing.

The grouping of TCU, Baylor, and Ohio State is now TCU and Baylor, with Ohio State a vote or more lower depending on the poll. Destroying TSUN will not change this. Perhaps destroying Wisky might. If the committee is similarly influenced by the underwhelming performance against Indiana, the reality is that Ohio State needs three losses to get into the NC game and chances of that are pretty slim unless...

Texas upsets TCU
Kansas State upsets Baylor
Florida beats Florida State
Mississippi beats Mississippi State
Alabama wins the SEC championship game

Ohio State was #7 before this week in both those polls so it's completely unsurprising that still #7 in those two.
The only change in the top-7 of either poll was Bama jumping FSU in Coaches.

Edit - unrelated, but don't feel like double-posting...
Looked up ESPiN's poll to see if Pollack had changed his mind this week. Nope. Still has Ohio State at #7 ... think that pretty much proves the scripting-for-controversy.
While I was there, I noticed that ESPN's poll has Arkansas ranked now. Pollack himself ranked the 6-5 (2-5 SEC) Razorbacks #19  Thank god for Nicholls State to get them bowl eligible.

If Baylor moves ahead of tOSU this week, tOSU is in trouble. Baylor has Texas Tech next week while tOSU has ttun. The committee won't be impressed be either win. The following week Baylor has K State and tOSU will play Wiscy. Right now K State is a few spots ahead of Wiscy. Will a win over Minnesota put Wiscy ahead of K State? If Minnesota beats Wiscy, there is no chance tOSU will go in over Baylor.

At the end of the day - win out and let the chips fall where they may.

TCU also has a win at home against Minnesota

I don't think they need as much to happen above them as you think needs to happen, but I do think that if everyone above us wins we don't make it in. MSU doesn't really have any good wins, and with ole miss sucking that won't count for much. We'll jump them if we win out. I don't see them putting in 2 B12 teams, so we would jump probably TCU. But that would put us at 5 (assuming Baylir would be ahead of us). So I think we only need a loss by FSU or Oregon and we're in. If the loss comes from the 2 teams in the SEC or B12 then we probably will need both teams from that conference to lose.

If things stay as they are, I have ZERO concern that Miss. State will stay in the Top 4. I feel the committee is just saying "The SEC will get a team in regardless." I think that there will be a whole lotta butt hurt in the southland come Decmeber 7th.
