2014 Offense Discussion

This message board has matured too much. I mean, where's the meltdown??? Do I have to go back to 2006 to get a perfectly good meltdown thread and several ban-hammers??? What gives?

It died when we got rid of the negative rep button. I remember getting into a rep battle with someone only to realize the futility of it when the guy I was feuding with had 10000x the amount of reps I did.

Good times, I think I was Pure Scum for the rest of the year because of that douche. 8D

You can still get slammed for retroactive ding whining, pal.

I have a sneak suspicion the Barrett will surprise a lot of people......I'm sure the rest of the B1G is rejoicing right now but I think they are going to be disappointed to see This team still play quite well on offense

The way I see it they have 6 games to gel before a serious road game (@ state penn) and 8 games before they go @ Sparty. I'd still bet money on this team being undefeated going into the MSU game......maybe I'm being overly optimistic though, guess we shall see.

1. I look at the schedule and there is only one opposing QB I would definitely take to give me a chance to run the table and that's Hackenberg even though he doesn't fit our system. With every other QB on our schedule it's debatable who I would rather have because I haven't seen JT play yet.

2. I would easily take the rest of our roster over every other roster we face. And it's not even close.

3. I would easily take our coaching staff over every coaching staff on our schedule. And it's not even close.

So, given that why in the hell would I just concede we will lose 2-3 games this year?

I'm interested in seeing what Herman does with the offense. He is now known as one of the best offensive coordinators in the game but it's easy to move the ball when you have Braxton, Hyde and a pretty good offensive line. If he's the offensive coordinator that his reputation says he is then we should still move the ball pretty well with Barrett.

It's very simple and the same as last year. No Braxton? We just play the same offense that we had going with Kenny Guiton in the game. He didnt have Brax' moves but he was pretty daggone dynamic in this offense. JT just has to be efficient and away we go!

Yes, but we knew what Kenny's skills and limitations were based on actual game experience. Were all forced to go off of HS highlights and training camp talk with Barrett. I'm cautiously optimistic with Barrett running the team. I feel much better with the RBs we have. But the Big 10, and college football in general is a much bigger leap than playing Texas HS football and be I!g the fastest player on he field. I wish the best for Barrett, the biggest thing he needs to be is efficient like you stated. Get the ball out and make good reads

I can't help but think about the 2006 Florida Gators and all the similarities that could exist with the 2014 OSU team. Starring J.T. Barrett as Chris Leak, Cardale Jones as Tim Tebow, Dontre Wilson, Jalin Marshall and /or Curtis Samuel as Percy Harvin, the 2014 Ohio State defensive line as the 2006 Florida defensive line and Urban Meyer as Urban Meyer. Forget the TV commentators who prey on OSU fan paranoia... we're still in it (maybe more so). I love Braxton but we MIGHT be more complete because of the injury.
