2014 Offense Discussion

Are Dunn and ball even going to be here next year? I expect one to transfer but both could. I guess they are sophomores ( I think) so they could potentially work their asses off to get the starting nod as a senior. Could also stay for a year and grad transfer. So we may need that depth later to keep a fresh rotation.

I believe both are redshirt sophomores. And I'll refrain from comments on their transfer status or future. I'm glad they're both Buckeyes and at this juncture I look forward to their RB depth and leadership...

They'll both be juniors next year. But out of respect for the players, let's refrain from total speculation on the transfer issue. They deserve better than that.

I know I may be wrong here but I'd love to see what Samuel has as a pivot. It would be very similar to what Melvin Gordon went through as a younger back where they used him on the perimeter more so with constant sweeps. I think Samuel would hit the edge going downhill and with a great combo of speed and strength would really be a tough assignment to stop with the threat of Zeke coming north/south. Either way the Pivot is loaded and if Braxton plays a bit at the pivot this year it'll be one of the best stacked teams we've ever had.

Archiving this here. I tabulated this data for a dead horse beating on Devin Smith's role/emergence in the offense
Since this mind-numbing debate has resorted to targets, here is my rough count, and it puts him 4th among WRs. Naturally stats don't really tell the whole story for guys like Jalin (inflated) or Evan (valuable without the ball), but here they are.

I was surprised to see how consistently Dontre's name popped up on incompletions. I remembered them going to him a lot but I didn't realize just how much. I think it's also interesting to notice the 10 targets in the Va Tech game given the uproar over where things allegedly stood in August.
I'm not really looking to continue the convo here but the data is interesting.

Hausmann is really everything you want in a tight end," a source at Ohio State said. "He's big, obviously. He's fast, he's athletic, he's a great blocker and really uses his hands well when he catches the ball. He can go over the middle, he can line up on the edge - there's nothing he can't do in our offense. He could be a guy that really changes how we use the tight end."
That is – of course – music to the ears of Buckeye fans long-clamoring for increased utilization of the position. After all, rule number one of college football? The tight end is always open.

????????? Who was the last TE who could not do all that?
