2014 NFL (Well, Browns, so, sorta "NFL") Draft Thread

Evans and Gordon are completely incomparable. One is a speed guy and one is a big tall doofus who can catch jump balls. But don't let that get in the way of your Johnny FUBAR lovefest.

While I agree that their styles are completely different, I don't see where you think that I'm in love with John Foosball. Would I give him a chance if he was drafted by the Browns? Yes. Do I absolutely no doubt want them to draft him, no I would not say that at all. He has a competitive spirit that could be used to rally a team if he could be taught some better footwork and patience in the pocket. He has very good accuracy and ball placement when he is not running around like a chicken with his head cut off. He could also be faced with adversity and become a complete headcase, so no I'm not in love with Mr.J Football.

The accuracy issue can be worked on, however his internal clock and pass rush sense are severaly off. When Manziel senses pressure he hauls ass - then looks downfield. Brady, Manning, Breesey, Rodgers, Fatty, Rivers & Luck all slide very well in the pocket while keeping their eyes locked downfield.

This kid will sense pressure that doesn't exist and run himself into trouble. Plus, much like Quinn, he had a pair of tall, badass receivers to bail out his severely questionable throws.

Uh Josh Gordon? I think he may be a better player than Mike Evans, good try though.

Please don't take this as me being a J-football lover, just come on .

Mike already addressed it, but my point was a receiver that'll bail him out from highly questionable throws into double coverage, particularly jump balls... Evans is that kind of receiver.
Gordon is not that kind of receiver.

He has a competitive spirit that could be used to rally a team if he could be taught some better footwork and patience in the pocket

If that's all we need, couldn't we basically get Tebow for free at this point ?
Not that I'm at all suggesting it... but if all we need is a leader that can rally the team.. he fits the bill.
If Manziel is there in the 2nd round, OK... take a punt. As #4 overall? No thanks. Haven't we learned our lesson with over-rated hyped 1st round QBs yet? I can't even count how many have been drafted at this point. It's ridiculous, and it's a losing formula. If you don't hit a HR, you've tied your team to an overpaid bench-warmer / punching bag for 3 years.

I will go on record, assuming everything goes well at the combine, that I would be fine with the Browns selecting Johnny with the #4 pick. However, I do not want them trading up to get anyone.

I hope he goes to the Jaguars or the Texans...then has to play for 2 games a year against Clowney, who will be eager to prove that taking him over a QB was not a mistake. This shrimpy little fuckwit doesn't seem to understand that the biggest, tallest, fastest defensive players he saw in college will be lucky to start in the NFL...and that the guys that are already starting in the NFL are way bigger, and stronger, and faster than those players already. Enjoy the hospital.
