Saw another infuriating thing today: Joey Bosa stunting around the center of the Dline to get to the other guard/tackle area. WTF??? Bosa is a vertical player not a horizontal player. When you stunt him that far he loses his best asset, his push into the backfield. Why would you do that? Why would you keep rushing only 3 with our backfield? Why would you stay 10 yards off the receivers and then backpedal?

I think that's it. Someone fix it please.

I missed a lot of the game because of work, but the little I saw and while I'm rewatching now on BTN, how does one man's injury factor THIS much into our dbs being so bad in coverage? Bryant wasn't our best cover guy anyway, he was a hitter so idk how he missed that much in coverage. Its baffling how open the iowa wrs got, and the same thing happened against northwestern. Not sure if its youth, the scheme or a combination of both. But our back 4 (which most of us thought would be our strength) is our biggest liability on defense. And we don't look close to NC caliber because of it. We could still easily win the big 10, but I'd definitely be worried in a bcs bowl if we had to face a team like fsu, heck I'd be worried if we played clemson or a&m at this point

I miss the days of zone-blitzes and bringing more than a 3-man rush/zone coverage. I'd rather be seeing other teams WRs make plays (not that I ACTUALLY want that), but instead of having them be WIDE open as if they are casually playing pitch and catch.

I don't think they blitzed alot because they aren't very confident in Reeves. When we have Roby the defense is clearly at it's best rolling up the comers and bringing an extra guy.

Roby basically played the entire first quarter and they didn't blitz then either. Also the pass defense stunk (with him playing) against Cal, Wisconsin, and Northwestern.
IMO, while there are weak spots I don't think its a talent issue, its coaching / scheme that is the problem.

I agree the pass defense has been awful with Roby in there. I'm just saying the defense seems to be at its best pressing and blitzing. Which is pretty much the opposite of what Fickel want's to do.

On the bright side to everything that has happened, Ohio State still ranks #7 nationally in Rush Defense.

They average only 92.4 ypg. Thats pretty damn impressive when you note that we rank ahead of Alabama (98.3) and Missouri (116). There is no Top 10 team nor SEC team ahead of them in this stat. Lastly, the Bucks have yet to have a team rush for over 100 yards.

The team also ranks 22nd in scoring. They are better than: Stanford, Clemson, LSU, SC, Georgia, Auburn, Missouri, TAMU, and scUM. All of these "tough" SEC teams that would "likely destroy" OSU in any game (according to pundits).

Against some VERY average teams. Outside of Wisky we haven't faced a very tough running team. And against Wisky we sold out to stop the run so much that we got burned through the air. Great teams will hit us on the ground and through the air. We are not elite because of how vulnerable we are on D.

Or Mizzou, Vandy, LSU, Georgia, Bama, Baylor, Texas Tech, UCLA, Stanford or any other team where the QB throws the ball more than 5 times a game.
