2013 Preseason and regular polls

And after denying the Rose Bowl we can bail on the B1G go independent , schedule Notre Dame early in the season, thrash them and take advantage of how we brutalized a "top 15" team early in the year, beat Michigan (cause every schedule needs a cupcake or 2) and then dethrone the SEC.

Nah - stay in the Big Ten. But the Rose Bowl is just another BCS bowl at this point. And it will matter even less when the new system is in effect next year as well.

I think people thought I was unfair in the game thread yesterday, but it is incredibly disappointing to watch this team sleepwalk through that game because I knew what it would do. Now, Baylor and one of the top 2 would have to lose. Stranger things have happened but it's very unlikely.

It's so very frustrating because I think that the media really don't want Baylor. They don't bring anything like the fanbase and media hits that Ohio State brings. Free Shores vs Baylor? Meh. Who cares outside their fanbases?

Ohio State will drop now in the BCS, if it drops to 4th in the Harris Poll or the margin tightens further. Sagarin is not alone in having Wisconsin with a higher SOS (Massey has them at #26 and OSU at #55). I think that Sagarin's model puts a higher weighting on playing top 30 teams in his power ratings. Wisconsin has played 3 and Ohio State only 1.

and all of those series except the Cryami series happened before any of these players were even in fucking HighSchool. For all of the goddamn whining these illiterate fuckers do week in and week out about punishing players on current teams for the transgressions of the past teams, they sure as fucking hell love doing it when it comes to ranking Ohio State.

Like I said, win the Big Ten, refuse the BCS invite. The Rose Bowl became just another bowl game when they joined the BCS.
Delaney and Gene Gene The Dancing Machine wouldn't get invited to St Barths this winter, so it'll never happen.

Don't be surprised if they aren't secretly hoping that Ohio State gets shut out. Nothing like the largest fanbase in the country being enraged by seeing Free Shoes and Baylor in the MNC game. It isn't about Baylor, it's about Ohio State and the TV views and webpage clicks that such a scenario would possibly bring. It may seem far-fetched but you can't tell me they haven't considered it. Besides, the BCS powers that be don't care who is in the MNC game anyway, they are getting paid next year for the quasi-playoff that isn't being called a playoff.

Coming into yesterday, it was well known that the Buckeyes needed both Baylor AND Stanford to work as a pair if they didn't want to be jumped in some poll.

If both Baylor and Standford had won, they would have split voted again and the Buckeyes would have stayed at 3; and if they both lost, it would have benefited the Bucks as well.

Not surprised Baylor jumped us, it was a matter of time. Baylor is the media darling right now. They don't have any dirt on them to be upset with. They are this years Boise State or TCU. The media loves the unbeaten Cinderella teams that haven't sniffed a national championship picture in quite some years (Florida State) or ever at all (Baylor). Both Baylor and FSU have been playing at a high level, yes, but in no way should have jumped us after this last weeks showing.

I don't buy the media that the Buckeyes had a terrible showing yesterday. Six sacks, 2 picks, 1 pick six, safety, and still no 100 yard rusher. Points? Sure, they score on the Bucks, but it didn't matter because they showed what a complete team they are when certain things aren't working.

Baylor gave up 42 to WVU (4-7), FSU gave up 34 to Boston College, Oregon gave up 38 to Wash St (5-5), Alabama won't face an in conference defense in the top 20 ad struggled against Miss St.

I know. It's all the good old boys club when it comes to the bowl games.

But just for once I'd love to see it by a major conference team.
Don't be fucking childish. Without their share of Bowl cash, how would the rest of the B1G upgrade facilities and hire top level coaches?

Seriously, fuck the B1G athletic departments. Michigan sucks, but at least they're trying. The rest of those fucking mooches can eabod.

Pretty much.
I agree. With Stanford losing to another unranked team, it really discredits Oregon. There is no Pac 12 team that OSU can take on this year and have a "statement win" against.

What's the meaning of the Rose Bowl now? The fucking parade? The PAC 12 doesn't care about what the Big 10 is doing anymore, why should the Big 10 care about their bowl game?
