2013 Preseason and regular polls

I just am baffled at the fact, that MSU is rated # 1 in defense and yet they only beat Purdue by 14 points.

Makes no sense. The ranking of their defense has nothing to do with their inept offense that only scored 14 points in the game. Their defense held Purdue to ZERO points which is what a top ranked defense should do against a team like Purdue.

Let me break it down:

I am the eggman, they are the eggmen.
I am the walrus, goo goo g'joob.

They have the Walrus, boo boo g'boob.

Next question please.

Mizzou is my second favorite school but it's a big drop down from my Buckeye love. If you haven't seen them play much don't underestimate them. The offense isn't as solid as aTm but the D is much, much better. I wouldn't pick them to beat Bama but I don't think it would be the blow out that many would expect. Mizzou is an OT away from being undefeated in the SEC. They had the Cocks dominated for almost that whole game. Mizzou has several big, physical receivers that are tough to defend. I believe they are top 5 in several D categories...sacks, INTs, etc and last I checked they had some crazy long streek for consecutive games forcing a turnover....30+ if I recall. Don't sleep on them.

I've become a slight Mizzou fan this year. They play the kind of football I'm accustomed to and it's nice watching them beat up the SEC with that style. So much for "SEC speed".
Become a bit of a Mauk fan too. Nice to see Ohio kids getting around. Still very rough around the edges, but he's only going to get better.

It will be very difficult for Georgia to get to SEC Championship game. Lots of moving parts but most basically it comes down to Mizzou having to lose twice among at Ky, at Ole Miss and at home vs Texas A&M.

Mizzou is the biggest pretender in the BCS at this point IMO. Their best win came against a completely depleted UGA and their second best win now has a losing record. I would not be surprised if they drop their last two games.

Besides LSU, UGA is the next most formidable opponent for 'Bama. Would be very tough for 'Bama to go through LSU, Auburn and UGA unscathed.

For the Orlando Sentinel, this is as positive as it gets:

but I've got news for you: The Seminoles will not be playing Alabama; they'll be playing the Evil Genius – Urban Meyer – and his Ohio State Buckeyes.
Alabama has games left against No. 10-ranked LSU (tonight), at No. 7 Auburn, at Mississippi State and an SEC Championship Game against either No. 9 Missouri or No. 13 South Carolina. I realize the Crimson Tide have won three of the last four national titles, but they haven't proven anything THIS year. The only decent team they've beaten is Texas A&M – and they had to hold on for dear life to win that game 49-42.

Wait a sec... evil genius? Are we the bad guys against the Criminoles and Satan?
Every other program in CFB has had a rough stretch of several seasons within the last 25 years. Besides tOSU. If people love an underdog and hate a winner...well tOSU hired one of the top two coaches after a scandal "rocked us to the core" resulting in the loss of our best coach since Woody and our senior starting QB.

Basically, we're the EVIL EMPIRE. They hate us cause they ain't us.

I've learned to embrace the hate. It sustains me.

If tOSU doesn't play in the NC, then this offense will go turduckin ape[Mark May] on someone in the Rose, and they won't be able to keep us out next year.

This is exactly how I expect this to play out.[/quote]

And steve19: unless there are losses by Alabama and fsu, and probably Baylor, Osu most likely ain't in the NC. We're rose bowl bound. And have been all year. We can average 100pts the rest of the season, and still get held out, IMO. Our perception from the last 2 lost NCs is still fresh in voters minds, and the weakness of the big 10 severely works against us. All we can do is keep winning and hope other teams lose

I suspect that the Wisky win over BYU will have an important benefit to tOSU in the BCS polls.
That was my point earlier. It would have helped if they won by a larger margin, but events out West, even Utah's loss, will affect the computers.

There is another side to this. The win by Stanford may propel them above Ohio State on the computers. BYU was ranked 20-22 on the computers. It is possible that Ohio State could slip a rank or two but not more. The result is that Ohio State could still be #4 in the rankings or even slip a place. I hope that it is not true but an early look at the Sagarins show that Ohio State drops.

All do respect but thats some Bullshit.. we might very well get held out even if we win out, but it has NOTHING to do with losing two NCs and VERY little to do with the quality of teams in the BIG. The BIG is being punished by big media for going it on their own. We hit them in their wallets so they are doing everything they can to bring us down. It wouldnt matter if we had 4 of the top 10 teams in the country in our conference, ESPN, CBS, ABC ect make money off our competition looking good. Miami wasnt punished when the Big East was crap and they ran through that conference, USC wasnt punished when the PAC was down and they ran through that conference, FSU wasnt punished when the ACC couldnt beat them for like 3 years straight. Its so pervasive our own fans believe it now. ridiculous. If you arent boycotting Espin yet you are part of the problem.
