2012 tOSU Recruiting Discussion

Last week's haul has made this week seem really quiet, and in turn... pretty boring. With the speed Meyer has been able to bring in recruits, the next year could be a reeeeeally boring one for us. That must be what it's like for Texas fans, when it takes them a month to fill their class with studs, then they just have to sit there and wait for the next recruiting cycle to start up.

Except they have LOTS of time to complain about why they don't get more out of said recruits.

They cite OSU "fan" tweets to Kalis, yet fail to mention TSUN "fan" tweets to Dunn. :shake:

While I'm sure that many fan bases have their fools, and I'm sure Dunn got a few nasty-grams, the deal with Kalis escalated more than most. Possibly because Kalis actually responded. Either way though, I wouldn't expect an article on Kalis to extrapolate to another recruit.

Personally, I'd like to see Dodson and Reeves, with Diggs if possible. Then bank schollies for next year. When Meyer has an entire year to work on top tier guys, I'd want him to have as many spots as possible to work with.

I would be satisfied if Dodson was the only additional commitment - agree that banking the remaining ships would be wise. With that said, my guess is Marcus, Dodson, and Reeves (which would be phenomenal).

Is there an extreme limit on scholarships next year? If not, I fail to see the reason for banking scholarships for next year if you are in the hunt for talented people this year. I'm definitely not an advocate of handing extra scholarships out to whoever wants them, but if you have the shot to get talent in Year 1, what sense does it make to roll them over into year 2 when you are essentially betting on being in the same position as you are now?

Even if there are limited numbers for next year, I am willing to bet there will be more than a few players who transfer out as a result of the regime change. Any of the players OSU is in on now would be great additions in any year so I am all for keeping the momentum associated with the new hire rolling and being as aggressive as possible down the homestretch.

I'm no expert but it seems like there as a lot of talent in the class of '13 and we will only have 15 or so spots. It may help to bank a couple and get 17 top level guys next year than reach on someone late this year. In other words, if the kid you get this year isn't going to play, and you can most likely get someone better next year, it is best to wait.

Nick Saban disputes this:biggrin:

Less than a week till signing day.

I log on to check for updates and the top six most recent posts are: two threads on PSU, one on a Wisconsin associate AD, one on the former coach of Rutgers, a thread on new jerseys and finally - OSU men's tennis.

And they said Tressel couldn't close.
