2012 tOSU Recruiting Discussion

Before this past season I didn't follow recruiting all that much.
it's one of the studio shows I can stomach since they bring in actual experts, not just BTN level analysts.

Allen Trieu is a fixture of the signing day shows. They usually sprinkle in highlight clips of many players.

makes me wonder if UFM put any calls out to JJ Denman, Chris Muller, or Ryan Brodie .... I want him [Miller] well protected.

J.J. Denman, from Fairless Hills, Pa., changed his commitment from UW to Rutgers, citing the departure of several UW assistant coaches as a factor in his decision. Since then, Rutgers coach Greg Schiano left to become the coach of the Miami Dolphins, though it seems unlikely Denman would switch back to UW.
I too am worried enough about the O-line that I am staying up tonight helping urban recruit  See above.

SI.com: For top recruits, Urban Meyer's impact at Ohio St. is unmistakable

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/20...hio.state.recruiting/index.html#ixzz1ktlMj6k0

With the end in sight, a familiar candidate has emerged for the top class in the nation. Ohio State -- coming off its first seven-loss season since 1897 -- boasts the No. 3 haul according to Rivals' team rankings. After beginning the season with a broken team, plagued by an ousted coach and a fleeting quarterback, the Buckeyes have entered the upper echelon.
The reason for the surge, of course, was the Nov. 28 hiring of Urban Meyer. In the mere months since he took over, he's lured seven four- and five-star prospects to Columbus. More could follow on Feb. 1.
"He's a relentless recruiter. I mean he is relentless," said Jeff Weachter, the coach of defensive end Noah Spence at Bishop McDevitt (Pa.). "When Urban puts his mind to it that he wants a kid, he doesn't break the rules, but he's going to pull out all the stops."

It finally looked like this would be the year the rest of the Big 10 would catch or pass Ohio State on the recruiting trail. An NCAA investigation led to the dismissal of popular coach Jim Tressel and a mediocre season on the field. But then the Buckeyes went and hired Urban Meyer coinciding with Penn State being removed as a contender for top players. Meyer immediately solidified 5-Star running back Brionte Dunn (6'1/220), secured a commitment from long time Penn State lean Noah Spence (6'3/240), flipped Penn State commitment Tommy Schutt (6'3/290), Michigan State commitment Se'Von Pittman (6'4/260), and Notre Dame commitment Taylor Decker (6'8/288). Ohio State wasn't recruiting badly, but they were on pace for a Top 20 class. With Meyer at the helm, the Buckeyes have an outside shot at the No. 1 class, unthinkable as recently as Halloween.

Haha they are

I personally like the "aspiring college coach" who thinks Schutt is "grossly overrated" and would rather have the 3 star DT with an offer sheet of MAC schools instead.

Something tells me he'll be stuck in the aspiring phase for quite some time...

Adam Bellamy was born in Scotland and his family moved to Massachusetts before ending up in Aurora. I know that doesn't really count but just a little fun fact...
