I would like to see some of you that put this much effort into calculating recruiting rankings redirect your efforts towards something a little more meaningful...like cancer research or how Wade can win the lottery.

I can solve the latter with this:

Pick the right numbers

Upon further review and calculations, GeorgiaBuck2 is right (provided Texas does not lose any points due to player re-rankings, which I think are already complete).

If we get Diggs, Neal, and Dodson that puts us at 27 commits, of which only 25 get counted for team points. The two lowest rated players (Jones and Southward) would no longer be counted.

We'd get 711 points for Diggs, Neal, and Dodson:

Diggs: 5* #2 WR = 299 points
Neal: 4* #5 CB = 215 points
Dodson: 4* #24 OT = 197 points

711 points

This would give us 4992 points total:

Current total of 4281 + 711 = 4992 points

We'd drop the lowest ranked commits:

Southward 3* NR (40 points)
Jones 3* NR (40 points)

Thus would lose 80 points, giving us 4912 points:

4992 - 80 = 4912 points

Texas has 4960 points, 48 more than 4912.

I think Scout already has Lewis counted out, so we're at 23 now. Adding the three mentioned would mean we'd only have to drop out one player's numbers.

I feel like an old man in regards to recruiting. I like to smoke my pipe and sip scotch as I watch signing day roll by. I have my forum where there isn't a new thread every 3 hours speculating on Fred Davis. I have a coach who can close. It doesn't get any better.

I fondly look back at the '80s when all we got on recruiting was the Columbus Dispatch's NLOID wrap-up article that only offered glowing praises for the recently signed class. I remember how optimistic I would be after reading that article.

I wish today's young'uns could have experienced for just a bit the joy of being a sports fan back then. We are simply too spoiled for our own good now.
