2012 tOSU Recruiting Discussion

We are at 19 already. 5-7 seems a bit much.

It's not. I think OSU will take at least 5 more in this class. They are at 82 right now. I think when you look at all the forms of possible attrition, there will be room for at least that many.

They have 19, and last year they signed 23, minus a few like price, who backed out, and a few early enrollees. Meaning any 2012 early enrollees would be part of ths previous class

The roadblock is 82, not 25

We can't take 7 can we? The BIG won't let anyone take more then 25 I thought.

Taking 7 would be predicated on a few recruits not making it in this class.

My bad, completely didn't think about that at all.

Awesome! I hope we sign more 5*'s to just show scUM who is the king. I would love to see the Alabama QB in this class. What's his name?

edit: Jameis Winston. Any word on him?

You must be holding information that says some players have left that isn't yet public knowledge.

The count of current players on the roster who aren't seniors and aren't likely to receive a redshirt to stay is 65 + 19 = 84.

That count includes Nathan Williams, Melvin Fellows and Jaamal Berry, but not Andrew Sweat (who is extremely unlikely to receive a Redshirt) or Taylor Graham.

Fellows and Berry are both still located in the Buckeye Football Forum.

Or early enrollers.

Medical waivers are coming, transfers are coming. It's inevitable. Maybe more transfers than originally thought if the NCAA allows guys out without sitting a year due to the sanctions.
I agree, but 2 transfers or medicals from the current roster plus all committed recruits gives OSU 82. 5 more sounds like about the limit. I have a really hard time finding 7.

I guess all I can say is that there will be more than 2 combined medical waivers and transfers.

As we've discussed on here previously, there are 3 very likely medical hardship cases. Factor in the inevitable 2-3 transfers from any offseason let alone a drastic regime change, a few guys not getting a 5th year, as well as anyone not qualifying that has committed, and you get to seven.

Personally, I question whether they'll land 7, particularly because Urban isn't going to settle. Getting 4-5 seems probable, OL, OL, WR, LB, LB. Beyond that I think he'll be swinging for the fences, and if he can't hit a home-run, he'll wait until next inning (2013).

3 medicals in one year sounds extremely high to me. I know the names being mentioned, but they were talked about last year too and it didn't happen.

I can find one guy who might not get a 5th year and he was on the field on special teams and in the Michigan game so that's probably a stretch.

I'm not ruling out transfers, but there aren't any definites from the lower classes to me. I found 9 players who I could imagine not being on the roster next year but honestly most felt like a stretch.
