2010 tOSU Recruiting Discussion

This is probably here somewhere but I'm not sure where to find it or what terms to use to search for it. Does anyone have a list of when the remaining recruits OSU is in on are scheduled to announce?

Henderson: 5 pm on CBS tomorrow
James: Between 11 and 12 from his HS tomorrow
Anderson: Could sign tomorrow or later on...hearing he signs tomorrow if it's OSU (which it should be)
Moses: Likely decides past signing day

Everyone has now signed that was a verbal. OSU definitely has two more spots open, possibly more. There are three players left that could join and I think we find room for all three if they all want in (however that works) -- Moses, Hendersonk and Andersonk.

Any chance a sleeper could still find a way in the class that we currently don't know about? If two of the three say no, do we throw a scholly at the Aussie if that's what it takes to get him to OSU?

If the Bucks strike out with Henderson they still hope to sign Latwan. That leaves one open scholarship. As has been JT's custom, look for this to go to one of the walk ons (Barclay?). The Bucks have consistently had excess scholarships to give after NLOID the last several years. This has become JT's custom. It's his economic stimulus program for a deserving walk on. I'm cool with this.

I could see the Aussie getting a scholarship offer. The staff had to have wanted a punter in this class since they offered Hagerup. I think we could also see them bank the remaining scholarships for next year since 2011 is a deep class.

My main concern with this recruiting class is the Bucks may only end up with one OL if Hendeson goes elsehere. Otherwise, I like the class. It's not the best one the staff has pulled in, but next year will definitely be the big one.

I agree with that. One of the nice balancing effects of recruiting though, when you have a light class at a position like OL one year, that depth chart card becomes a lot more meaningful the following year.

agreed. 1 OL is not enough. wont be a problem in 2010, but could cause significant depth problems down the road, and can take a couple years to rectify. we've seen it happen before.

I don't think the OL # one year has a big impact, given the fact that they had a nice haul last year. now if it happens next year I will agree, but one year doesnt have a big impact IMO.

Bringing in 1 OL most certainly has an impact when 3 years ago we also brought in 1 (Blankenship) who has not proven at this level.

There is no way to put lipstick on this pig.

1 OL inn this class is an abortion.

The staff wanted 3.

We are 300% short of that goal.

What really hurts is when you only get one guy and then you also experience injuries to guys you were depending on, like what happened to Mitchum and Skinner. If those two guys could have stayed healthy it would have been a different picture during those lean years.

Technically, we're 200% short. Not that I'm thrilled about that either....
