The D will be fine..
The losses of Warren and Graham will hurt, but there should be enough improvement across the board to sustain the momentum gained by a strong performance against OSU. GERG needs to stay so that we aren't looking at four DC's in four years.
If that happens, they should be a pleasant surprise.

We ran the ball 53 of 70 plays (76%) and still ran for 251 yards--a tad under 5 ypc--with three different ball carriers with 20+ yard runs. When a defense knows you're running the ball 3/4 of the time and still can't hold you to less than about 5 yards a pop, I'd hardly call that a "strong" performance...

not to mention OSU missing on a couple of bombs in which our WR was w-i-d-e open.....

Michigan fans choose to call the 2009 Game a step in the right direction by the defense.....but in reality, OSU was a couple plays away from making it another 30 point blowout.

Next year in Columbus will be ugly for MIchigan.....possibly more than 42-7 ugly

Yep.

As we sit here right now 2010 should be the best OSU team since 2006, if Heyward stays, while scUM loses the only two players they had on a miserably bad defense along with the RB that made the offense productive and stands a good chance of starting yet another true freshman QB.

And with this in my mind I can say it is going to be a Merry X-mas!:oh:

f. All of the above.

g. lactose intolerant and couldn't drink Barwis' chocolate milk

And the answers selected by OSU fans:

a) must be diabetic because he couldn't drink all that kool aid
b) grew up dreaming of playing in a bowl game some day
c) Hate the new team rule: all players taller than 5'4" and weighing over 120 lbs HAVE to play on the line. No exceptions.
d) Grew up loving UM and hating OSU..so they want to move on to a program that gives them a chance of getting a W at the expense of the Buckeyes...some place like Purdue.
e) creeped out by the Forcier family following Tate around campus and constantly whispering in Tate's ear: you are awesome. You are good enough. It isn't you..it is these other guys. You are all world. You ARE Tate.
f) Kinesiology classes are full...so time to move on.
g) Denard keeps yelling at people because he still can't tie his shoes...the rabbit goes around the tree...then in the hole...then....DAMN IT!!!!

feel free to add to the list....

and a large volume of them believe playing in that defense for another year will be beneficial. When even Morgan Trent develops into a reasonable NFL player, it kind of makes you wonder about the coaching.

I guess that's one tradition RR kept intact

Lets not get too excited. Hall and Trent showed a flash of their former Michigan talent against the Chargers in the final minutes. :smash:
except there was hardly a flash before the NFL.

Folks threw at true frosh Warren in 07, which folks misunderstood as a big step forward for trent. Hartline smoked Trent on the first drive, Boeckman underthrew it, and they didn't patch much more after that.

The next year (08), when teams stopped throwing at the no-longer freshman, his ability was shown again.
