2009 Heisman Trophy discussion

They could have been nice to Spiller and invited him. I also believe that Tim is an honest person and won't vote for himself.

What I meant was that both Timmy and Colt being there and Spiller left out is crap. Spiller had a phenomenal season, and the other two had OK seasons.

I would have gone:

Ingram
McCoy
Spiller
Gearhart
Tebow's Cancer Curing Tears

with an honorary invite for the big fella who held Tebow ever so firmly yet ever so gently while gently stroking his chin and telling him it'll all be alright, baby. It'll all be alright, child.

How can you leave Suh off?

No I understood you but if they point Tebow in for the fact of being nice than add the 6th player and put Spiller in there too. Plus I think it would be great for Gerhart to win it.

I understand why Tebow got invited and all, but Spiller's season blows Tebow's out of the water. I really wish Spiller would have at least gotten invited to NYC.

My vote would have been:
  1. Ndamukong Suh
  2. Toby Gerhart
  3. C.J Spiller
  4. Mark Ingram
  5. Colt McCoy

If his backup sucked would you be comfortable giving it to him?
28 for 113
11 for 80

The bama line, just like last year with Coffee & Ingram, paves the way for these good backs. It's hard to recognize any of them as peerless when there's so little dropoff between 3 different backs.

I like that list, and #5 has some nice fringe benefits for his last game

I think he meant it showed it wasn't just that Ingram was ultra dominant, but that it was the Offensive line.

Ok. I disagree. I think Ingram is a great back. Ladanian Tomlinson was the best back in the NFL and he had Michael Turner and Darren Sproles behind him. Doesn't mean he wasn't the best back. Although I wouldn't give it to Ingram either. If I got to choose, it's going to Suh.

Tebow and McCoy going to NY is utter bullshit. McCoy's only going because he's a "lifetime achievement" candidate and Tebow's only going because his birthday is this month and all the world's Christmas trees would wilt and die if he didn't.

Right, because they had terrible seasons. :shake: I can see the argument for others to be there, especially Spiller, but to say it's "bullshit"...I don't see that.

McCoy had 3512 passing yards with 27 TDs and 12 INTs and also had 348 rushing yards and 3 TDs. Oh and he also led his team to a 13-0 record. Had more passing yards, a better comp %, and 1 less total TDs than Troy Smith did when he won it. Both went undefeated too. Tough to argue against him at least being in NYC. Pretty sure he'd be there with these numbers if this was his first year as a starter. But I don't think he deserves the award.

Tebow had 2413 passing yards with 18 TDs and 5 INTs. That alone is pretty good, even without his 859 yards rushing and 13 TDs. He was one good game away from winning the thing. He won't win it, but I think he deserves to be there.

The only guy that is not there that deserves to be there is Spiller. They should have invited six.
