2009 Heisman Trophy discussion

I honestly haven't seen anything from Pryor to believe that this could actually happen. I'd just be happy with a all big-ten performance from him next year.

I have. But it comes in flashes. If he can put it together with more consistency, which usually happens with maturity, he'll win one.

I think Suh should win it. I also predict that he will. Lots of momentum building for him.
Not a chance. 3rd place finish at best. It's going to Ingram, I'm about 90% sure of it. If it doesn't go to him, then it will be Colt McCoy followed by CJ Spiller or Toby Gehrhart (SP?).

McCoy is a fine QB who has had a fine career. That said, if he wins it, it's a "lifetime achievement award" which is bullshit.

IMO, Suh should win it. Ingram has an argument and I think he will win it. Gerhart is in the discussion as well. Spiller raised his stock in the ACC Championship Game, but he had a number of duds this season.

I'd have no problem with Ingram getting it. He's been outstanding all year with the exception of the Auburn game (when he was banged up). He's put up big numbers against some really strong defenses. He pounded that UF defense and was a big reason (along with McElroy) for that domination. He's a helluva back and a lot of fun to watch.

Suh has been dominant this season, but there's unfortunately a stigma aginst defensive players winning it. But, if ever there was a pure defensive guy that has deserved it since I've been following, it's Suh.

Ingramm is odds on favorite right now for sure. Strange year, no offensive players really stand out with heisman like numbers. Ingramm has like 1,500 yds rushing and 18 total tds (3 receiving) those are great numbers but not heisman stats in any other year.

surprised the Boise St QB hasn't received any mention 39tds 3 int. they are a an undefeated team going to a BCS game with a win over Oregon...likely played against week defenses all year though.

According to this thing, they seem to think that Suh has a chance. I wonder if that field goal is blocked if he may have actually won the Heisman. I mean, if it's between him and McCoy, Ingram, and Tebow...then why not him? He's been more outstanding.

Suh screwed up. If he hadn't pressured McCoy on the rollout play with about 4 seconds left, McCoy would have taken a couple more steps to the sideline before dumping the pass, and Nebraska would be in the BCS.

Yeah, I'm kidding. He's got to try to sack him there - ironically the pressure caused Texas to have that last second put back on the clock.

That's the rub.

I get that, and that will be the reason why he doesn't win, but it isn't like he palys for a middle of the pack sunbelt team. They are ranked #6 in the country and have a win over the Pac Ten Champion.

.....just looked at that schedule wow is it weak. I give up

Other guys that can't win that deserve some mention

Lefevour (CMU) 27td/6int 71% completion% 14 rushing tds
Gilyard (UC) 1150 rec. yards 11 tds 3 return tds
Pike (UC) - if he didn't miss 3 games he'd have a good shot 26/6
Spiller (Clemson) 1150 rushing 11 rushing tds 4 rec. tds 5 return tds 1 td pas

Heisman

If the Heisman is for the best player in college football regardless of position then:

Suh-Nebraska He has been dominant all year. Not just the Texas game where he manhandled all he faced and was exceptional. Yes even a DT should and could win it. He gets my top vote.

Ingram-Bama Very good game against Florida and for the year he has been great. He is my second place vote.

Geirhart(sp)-Stanford The heart and soul of a very good if not great Stanford team. He finishes third in my votes.

I could legitimize all three. I could see votes for Tebow and McCoy and the rest. Exceptional players and they gets a crap load of press, but I would place them 4 or 5.
