2009 Heisman Trophy discussion

going into today I had...

#1 Gerhart
#2 McCoy
#3 Suh

After watching today my vote would be....

#1 Suh
#2 Gerhart
#3 Ingram

Suh shut down Texas' offense and almost single handedly won a football game, because the Nebraska offense did nothing. He has dominated all year. I think he is the most outstanding player in the country. Gerhart had an amazing year running the ball, and an ungodly amount of touchdowns, just because he doesn't get an extra game isn't a reason for me to like him any less. Ingram had a great game today, and is great, but I think the other two guys are more outstanding this year. I would have McCoy as my #4 pick and Spiller as my #5. I would invite all five, plus Tebow to NY. There is nothing that says you can't have 6 players, and all 6 have been in the discussion all year. They all deserve it.

I give it to Ingram. He dominated Florida, which was the consensus #1 defense in the country. Gerhart had a great season, but it was the Pac 10. You damn near have to be the shadow of Reggie Bush to get respect as a running back in the Pac 10.

Gerhart dominated in terms of touchdowns, however.

If he wins it after today, I'll never watch CFB again.

That's the type of thing I remember southerners saying in '97 when it came down to Peyton Manning and Woodson.

The vibe at the time was the eastern media was spinning the "it isn't a career achievement award" angle to steal it from Peyton because he didn't have an overwhelming SR season. Now the media darling is a southern boy who didn't have an overwhelming SR season and they do think its ok for it to be a career achievement award.

I'm not going to be comfortable until I see he doesn't win it.

I gotta give it to Gerhart, though I would have no problem with Suh winning it and establishing that precedent for more modern times.

Gerhart just ran over teams, and was at his best in the biggest games. His stats are awesome, too.

I think Ingram will win it, though. As long as it's not Tebow or McCoy I think I'll be okay with it though.
