2009 Heisman Trophy discussion

McCoy won the Heisman last night guys. Unless Ingram or Gerhart have a blowout two week special, this one's over.

No, he didn't. Lot can still happen and the last impression is always the biggest for voters. If he only throws for 200 yards and 1-2 td's, it'll open the door for someone else.

Ingram is flushing his hopes down the toilet right now. that leaves Gerhart and Tebow. McCoy is way ahead of Tebow and Gerhart needs to have 2-3 tds or more in his game. I really feel like the way he carried the team to that win (500 yards of Offense and 5 td's) on national TV, being the only College game being watched, he all but capped it. If he goes out against Nebraska and throws for 3-4 picks than yes it's wide open. But I would be more than shocked if he didn't win by a large margin. 200 yards and 1-2 tds and no int's gives him numbers close to last year and there is no one even close then.

I honestly don't even think Tebow should be in NYC for the presentation.

IMO, it should be McCoy, Spiller and Gerhart, in that order.

The 4 that would get invited right now is(in no particular order):
McCoy
Ingram
Gerhart
Tebow(by namesake only)

If Ingram keeps playing like he is right now he will drop to a distant 3rd this week. Then add what Gerhart does on Saturday night on National TV. Then it's up to McCoy and Ingram to put a final statement on the Heisman (with McCoy way ahead of Ingram).

McCoy was impressive and Texas needed it as their defense couldn't stop the Aggies. I also think there's some sentiment that it is Colt's turn. Not saying I agree with that type of thinking, but I think it is out there.

2006-Smith
2007-Tebow
2008-Bradford
2009-McCoy

It's become the "quarterback of undefeated team award" of late, and I don't see Ingram or Gerhart winning it.

I know he is a "D" player and has no chance to win the award but Suh from Nebbie has been simply dominant this year and should be invited to NY

Taking the lead in the race for the first time all year is a little different than locking it up. :wink2:

I hope he wins it (as I've said before, he should have won it last year), but if he a has a bad game against the tough Nebraska defense, other guys like Gerhart, Ingram, and Spiller can still make a good final impression. If Florida wins the SEC and Nebraska beats Texas, the huge percentage of brain-dead voters will bring Tebow into the race (which he realistically has not been in for the past month).

I think McCoy's huge game last night will allow most voters to forget about Houston's Keenum and Boise St's Moore.

McCoy winning it keeps Archie unique for this year and next year. :osu:

This is true except for Tebow in 2007. It's funny that he will win the Heisman the one year out of the 4 that he is a Florida where they DONT win the national championship. His best year is the teams worst year? Hmmmmm...

One thing is FOR SURE...the Heisman needs to move to January now that it's as big as it is. Or they could have another award in January, and call it the Vince Young award.

1. McCoy
2. Gerhart
3. Spiller
4. Tebow
5. Ingrham (Can't understand why so many have him at #1 still after 2 or 3 straight weeks of meh performances.)
