Buckeyes go down 1-4 and are now in sole possesion of tenth placei in the CCHA. No word on attendance, but I'm certain that it was gargantuan:(. You know; I've always liked that word...gargantuan...but you so seldom get the opportunity to use it in a sentence.

Don't know why I bother to care since our AD apparently doesn't, but we have a home-and-away weekend with Fredo of Ohio this weekend. Tonight in their quaint little shoebox of an arena and tomorrow in front of their crowd at the Schott. Oh well, end this year and see what Gene Smith does.

Utterly embarraskin' Buckeyes hold Fredo to a scoreless tie in the first, then come out in the second and get rocked for 6 goals.

I don't know what was more disgusting, the on-ice performance or having to listen to Fredo's stolen Michigan hockey cheers and stolen Wiscy "Jump Around" antics. Actually, only the former was disgusting. The latter was just pathetic.

At least tonight's game isn't televised nationally, so the country won't see our arena full of Miamites.

The Redhawks are currently #2 in the nation according to both the USCHO and the USA Today polls. Looking good for another run at the Frozen Four and perhaps a national championship after last year's loss in the finals. Not bad for little brother, eh ORD?

Order will be restored to the Empire, and your puny rebellion will be crushed.

They're not a long term threat. Right now, they're riding a hot coach who, like York at Bowling Green, will eventually leave. Then, what do they have? A little five year window of transitory success with a foundation of a 2700 seat shoebox arena and a broke ass athletic department. Just like BG, they'll slip back into irrelevance.

What I'm more concerned with is where this program is headed. I don't know how many times we have to go through this cycle of promising young freshmen class comes in, makes the NCAA tournament, hopes are high for the next couple of years and then collapse and mediocrity or worse.

According to all accounts, we're the strongest voice pushing for a Big Ten hockey conference. What I want to know is where the hell do we get the nerve attempting to tell Minny, Wiscy, UM and MSU what they should be doing with their hockey programs, when we don't seem to give a rat's ass about our own.

Just my thoughts.

Playoff time this weekend:

The men backed their way into first round home ice this weekend against the Domers. Domers pulled a Markell this year and collapsed despite a lot of returning talent and high pre-season ranking.

Women get freshman forward Minttu Tuominen back from winning a Bronze with the Finnish national team and roll into the WCHA Final Four in Minneapolis. They play Minny on Saturday and, if they win, play the winner of Bemidji State v. Minny-Duluth on Sunday.

true, yet for someone reason playing one of those schools is a tad more attractive than playing ferris st... just saying.

im still willing to drive markell back up to cornwall myselfy... for the record.

Not sure which post you're responding to, so I don't know whether "those schools" refers to other Big Ten schools or to Fredo(OH) and Bowling Green. If it's the latter, fuck 'em. Let them whither into irrelevance. If it's the former, there's no one outside of the Big Ten Network offices that wants a B10 hockey conference more than me. I just think that we should get our own house in order before pressuring schools with a lot more hockey tradition and success than us as to what they should and shouldn't favor.

All that being said, I'll buy the gas for you and Markell. I love everything about his program except the on-ice results. Off the ice, he has great grad rates and apr and you NEVER hear anything about one of his kids getting into trouble. In that sense, he runs a program we can be proud of. The on-ice disappointments, however, have become too much. Knowing Markell though, I'm sure that he'll pull a CCHA tourney run out of his ass and get another year.:(

Took the domes down 3-1 last night. We can wrap it up and move on to the next round robin with a win tonight. Ami I wrong, Dude?

CCHA reseeds after the first round games, but if the seeding holds for this round, we'd get Fredo(OH) next series.
