You type faster than I can talk. The one argument that I have with that writer is that he is comparing Utah and the rest of the Mountain West to the Pac-10. I think we will all agree that the Pac-10 from top to bottom is now one of the strongest conferences in the country this year.

I guess you're neglecting the fact that the Pac 10 was 1-6 against the MWC? It might be better talentwise than the MWC, but it certainly hasn't proved it on the field.

I think that 'now' was supposed to be 'not'.

You are right. I don't give that much consideration to what teams have done on the field because I think if some teams would play 10 times the team that lost the first game would probably win eight out of the next nine. Maybe I am wrong in my thinking but I think I can judge talent pretty well. Maybe not.

You've convinced the NY Giants. They just gave the Super Bowl Trophy to New England, who would have beaten them 8 out of 10 times last year.

I thought we were in the College Football Forum discussing BCS Rankings not professional football which is totally different. They do have a playoff there you know:tongue2: <You too

I don't know if you're being sarcastic, but I would disagree with this emphatically. I can go through a team-by-team discertation if it's really necessary.

Big 12 could get three BCS bids

43484208.jpg

Wally Skalij / Los Angeles TimesUSC, at 11-1, figured to be a lock for an at-large berth, but those plans could change if the Big 12 ended up with three of the 10 BCS slots. USC could get knocked all the way to the Holiday Bowl.

Unlikely chain of events might knock USC to the Holiday Bowl.

Bowl Championship Series commissioners recently had to mediate a conflict in their own rule book that could affect USC's bowl plans.

BCS rules stipulate that no more than two schools from one conference can receive BCS bowl bids, yet rules also state that conference champions must receive an automatic bid and that No. 1 and No. 2 in the BCS standings must meet in the title game.

There is a remote chance this year that Missouri could win the Big 12 title and two one-loss schools from the Big 12 South could end up No. 1 and No. 2 in the BCS standings.

So what gives?

"There would be three [Big 12] teams in that case," BCS spokesman Bill Hancock confirmed Wednesday.

In this scenario, one-loss USC could get knocked all the way to the Holiday Bowl if Oregon State earns the Rose Bowl bid.

USC, at 11-1, figured to be a lock for an at-large berth, which would earn an additional $4.5 million for the Pacific 10 Conference. But those plans could change if the Big 12 ended up with three of the 10 BCS slots.

The Big 12 would then have two of the four available at-large bids, and a non-BCS school figures to earn another with a top-12 finish. That would leave only one at-large spot left.

If Florida suffers a second loss, to Florida State, but then hands a first loss to Alabama in the SEC title game, and the Crimson Tide fell to only No. 3 in the BCS standings, USC would get locked out of a BCS bid.

The chances of all this happening are remote, but the possibility of three teams from the Big 12 being in BCS games forced commissioners to make a preemptive decision.

Texas is #2 in the BCS. It's very close, but I believe that if Oklahoma and Texas both win their last game (Tex/aTm and OKla/Okie St) that Oklahoma will jump Texas in the BCS standings and thus win Big 12 3-way tiebreaker to face Mizzou in the Big 12 Title game. If they win that, Oklahoma should be on their way to play the Florida-Bama winner in the Title Game, as long as Florida beats Florida State.

There are 6 computers used, The teams receive 25 points for a #1 computer ranking, 24 for #2, etc. But the highest and lowest computer ranking for each team is discarded and the four remaining scores are used to get a % of 100 possible computer points. That percentage is 1/3 of the BCS score - it's averaged with the team's percentage of maximum votes for the Harris and for the Coaches poll to get the BCS ranking. For the human polls, if a team got all #1 votes, that's 100% for that poll, if they got all #2 votes, it's 96%. If they get half #1 and half #2 it's 98%. etc.

What it amounts to is this: if the human votes remain the same, Oklahoma will need to gain 3 spots in the computer polls. For Oklahoma, right now their scores for Colley and Massey are thrown out for being their highest and lowest computer ranking. But if Oklahoma gains a total of two spots in the polls that count for them, and Texas loses one spot in one of the polls that are counted for them (not thrown out as highest/lowest), Oklahoma would pass Texas in the overall BCS numbers if other things remain the same.

Good God!!! The Puters have Texas Tech at #4 and UF at #6.

I guess a blocked extra point is worse than a Stoops ass raping. :shake:

By rule, the computers are not allowed to factor in margin of victory.

Florida controls their own destiny - quit yer bitchin'

Who's your Rooster???

over my head big fella. I cannot wait for Saturday though. I have a feeling our 4 and 5 wideout sets are going to be productive against your secondary.

That's assuming they can stay out of Union fights for a week.

Then again, UF needs to make sure no other players get caught stealing, obstructing justice, and destroying the goods they are trying to steal.

I think the key to the game is going to be who can limit the amount of arrests before the game.

Flashback to The Rooster's Tale | Firstcoastnews.com | FSU Seminoles

Ten years ago you had this same scenario. We were supposed to whip the Noles pretty handily, but your unheralded backup QB ran his way to a Nole victory. One of my personal worst games. :tongue2:

They nicknamed your qb - Outzen(sp) the "Rooster." I forget why.

Should be a good one if your cafeteria posse aren't suspended by Friday....and nobody helped Cam Newton steal the freakin' computer. :(
