2007 Preseason and Regular season Polls

2002 season: I lost some of my hair(the hair left turned grey) and removed every piece of fingernail I had with my teeth. All at the age of 19. I lost about 5 years of my life from one season...

I would love to do it again in 2007. Nothing makes me more excited than that first crack of the pads in the Shoe.

My mistake was grabbing the cheese.
I remembered that Virginia Tech was a 1-loss team going into that game. You're probably right.

I thought the quote was "My mistake was going for the cheese." But, good use of an obscure Simpsons reference.

Anyways, any guesses as to the Buckeyes starting position in the 1979 season? That was a season that the Bucks reached the #1 spot.

In CFN's annual 3-year-program-ranking; OSU is #5, up from #7 last year. With a good showing in 2007, the Buckeyes may well move up next year when the 2004 season will no longer count.

LINK

BTW: The APR (academic) portion of this ranking uses data from the NCAA, which is known to be complete bull-crap. Using this metric in the scoring rewards a team for widespread academic misconduct. This is chief among the reasons why these rankings are not generally taken seriously.

Yep. I remember that point in my life very well, even though I was 7 years old. I curled up in a little ball in my parents living room behind a chair and refused to come out for hours.

Anyways, the Bucks started the season unranked. At the time, the AP only posted the top 20, but that's still an impressive climb during the season.

Playboy's 2007 Pigskin Preview:

1. USC
2. West Virginia
3. THE Ohio State Buckeyes
4. Florida
5. LSU
6. Texas
7. Michigan (Aw, shucks)

I am willing to type what their outlook is for the Bucks, as long as it's not crossing any lines. Mods, what say ye?

OK, thanks DBB.

In summary:

Offense: Can't replace Smith or Ginn, but tOSU is never without it's share of talented playmakers. TB will most likely emerge from the QB derby, due to his familiarity of the system. Good up front with Barton and Boone mentioned, and Beanie at tailback.

Defense: Will keep the team in every game. Playboy All-American James Laurinaitis is the latest in a long line, and Jenkins leads a very quick secondary.

Schedule: Very favorable. After the relatively weak opening slate, the offense should be in order and ready for PSU, Wisconsin, and of course, 7th ranked scUM. :wink2:

Prediction: 10-2.

As for the pics, just take my word for it that as usual, they do not disappoint. Cover girl Amanda Paige....mmm.

Rece Davis, Lou Holtz, and Mark May predicting the season. They have the Buckeyes 10-1 coming in to Ann Arbor (is a whore) to face the 11-0 skunkbears. Lou Holtz, in all his infinite wisdom and glory, proclaims that Ohio State scored 42 last year, and won't do it again, and that PissAgain scored 39 last year, and can do it again. What such great logic! Douche.

Mark May actually reversed his usual thoughts and picked the Buckeyes to beat the 4th smelliest mammal in North America. Until Voyd gets the monkey off his back, he ain't hearin it. Does it seem like to anyone else that there's an elephant in the room?

Rece Davis follows suit and hops on Lou's lap. "Wolverines finish at 12-0, one of 4 teams to do so, along with USC, LSU, and Oklahoma." Right, Rece. You get paid to follow this shit, and 3 undefeated teams has happened once, now 4 is gonna happen? You've gotta be underpaid, my friend.

Davis used to seem normal, and Holtz lost his mind when he went to Northern Indiana to South Bend.

Lou always picks wrong
May was lobotomized as a child and no one believes anything he says.
Davis never knows what he thinks for sure.

SI.com: Power Rankings by Stewart Mandel = JOKE. We went from 11 last week to 14 this week.
This has to be the first time in Power Rankings history that I've penalized a team for a loss by its rival. I was already uncomfortable placing OSU so high, and if Michigan was that overrated, the Buckeyes probably aren't far behind. Plus, Chris Wells only ran for 46 on Youngstown State.
Last game: Beat Youngstown State, 38-6.
Next game: Saturday vs. Akron.
