'10 CA QB Nick Montana (Washington Signee; transfer to Tulane)

I see exactly where your coming from and agree completely on the money issue. What has me so confident is that he has said he wants to make a decision within the next month or two and they're spending a lot of time on tOSU, much more than any other school. Many insiders expect him to pull the trigger for tOSU at the spring game. Hope that's true.

Completely agree. Those factors...along with wad saying something about almost penciling Nick into this class already is what has me confident...not Papa Joe spending a bit of petty cash on a flight and couple nights stay in C-bus.

Totally.

My point is that a very well-off family spending...what...less than a thousand dollars to help sort out what everyone says is "the biggest decision of the kids life so far"...is hardly evidence of anything but a father helping his son to make the best decision. I'm not claiming Nick isn't interested in tOSU a lot...just that his dad spending a thousand bucks to help him sort this out isn't a STRONG indicator either way...yet. Especially this early in the process. If this is the only unofficial visit...then yeah...but if this is one of five UNOFFICIALs paid for by the family...then this whole argument is moot.

You really shouldn't need to defend your comment. Anyone with a logical sense on here will know what you meant and agree with you.

Ability to pay aside, he's still taking a long trip just to spend a day-and-a-half at most 2,000 miles from home to watch a glorified scrimmage.

That comment I agree with. It is more of an important factor that he is coming out for a glorified scrimmage then the fact he is paying for it out of his own pocket.

College Football Recruiting On the Trail 2010 - ESPN

Top 2010 quarterback Nick Montana still "wide open"
ESPNU 150 Watch List signal-caller Nick Montana spoke to affiliate Web site CrimsonConfidential.com about his recruitment.

"I'm still wide open," said Montana, who threw for 2,402 yards and 33 touchdowns as a junior. "I don't want to start narrowing things down until I see all my options. It's tough to say (which schools stand out), I'm still trying to figure it all out."

Montana's impressive offers list won't make narrowing the field any easier. He's visited Ohio State and Texas and is also looking at other schools including Stanford, LSU, Alabama, Florida State and Arizona.

Despite all the options, Montana hopes to make his decision soon, "I'd like to get it done as soon as possible. Whenever I feel I find the perfect fit I won't hesitate to commit. I'd like to for sure by the beginning of summer or spring ball."

Tennessee seemed to like our chances with M. Brown also. Not saying it ain't so. I'll just believe it when I hopefully see it.

Yes, but there was never a ton of confidence from our guys here from what I remember.

Seems like a different scenario.

Rivals $ - Mike Farrell's Weekly Whispers

3/5

According to Farrell, OSU has fallen out of the race for Montana.

Seems odd. Either really good sources or really bad ones.

I think I am sticking with Mr. Ed on this one.

Well, Ferrell is going by third-party hearsay whilst Nick himself says Ohio State's "definitely up there" and wants the word of that to get to the Buckeye fans...seems like Farrell may want to consider getting different sources.
