'10 CA QB Nick Montana (Washington Signee; transfer to Tulane)

Because that would be a surprise even to the ND coaches recruiting him...

There's a similar recruiting situation a few years back that reminds me of this one. I like to say it's Tim Tebow's but I could be wrong. Now maybe ND rather grab the kid from Colorado; who knows but the 800 pound gorilla in the room (please no Weis jokes) is ND.

IMO the longer this recruitment goes the worse it becomes for OSU. It's great he loved his trip to Columbus, but he didn't commit regardless of what anyone says. Just my experience talking......

And Montana has hinted plenty of times that the depth chart is something he is looking at. Ya ya ya, I know, real athletes don't care about the depth chart. I don't believe that unless it's USC. Even USC and Florida are starting to feel the wrath of the loaded depth charts though. Eventually, we will too I think. However, Notre Dame has some solid QB's on that roster, not to mention the fact that Nick has stated he wouldn't want to be competing for a job against his brother if I'm not mistaken. Why not go to a top program with a lacking depth chart at your position? Alabama, Ohio State, Florida State (if you want to put them in the discussion). I don't see it happening for ND, but then again, stranger things have happened.

Understood... There are about 4 guys that ND reportedly have higher than Montana...
ND will always be strong with the family as they have many ties there... But most that I talk to don't see or expect Nick committing to them...

I think Stanford is a bigger worry right now for tOSU...

You always bring great info, but there are too many sources with positive news for OSU and negative for ND for me to think that ND is leading right now.

ND insiders are calling an uphill battle, Nevada is bringing positive news, etc.

The 800 pound gorilla is obviously something to be wary of, but I don't think we have to worry about it with Weis there. The Montana family does not appear to be high on Weis.

ND is a non-player as long as that 800-pound gorilla (yes, that would be Weis) is head coach.
