Thanks for the heads up. I don't mind the rain so much but I love the craft brew scene in Portland. I went to the Deschutes and Rogue brew pub last time, and Bridgeport is another solid brewery. Last time I went, I went to the BrewFest.
Couple points I can pass on that may help you: 1) I presume that where you're at in ID has a rather dry climate. Whereas, Portland has a LOT of rain during the year. And as you head further north, the amount of rain continues to increase. The PNW coast is literally a rain forest. So, when considering the two cities, just determine how much you can handle. It's a large reason why there's such an inundation of coffee shops here. 2) Portland has more micro-brews than any other city in the world. 3) Oregon doesn't have a Sales Tax, Washington doesn't have an Income Tax. 4) Portland has around 2+ million people. Seattle is, I believe, around 6 million. Personally, I really like Portland. I really enjoy Seattle, but the traffic is uber-shitty. To each their own.
Oh I've been by there, I went to Portland a couple months ago. Truth be told, I'm hoping to end up practicing in Portland or Seattle. Love the Portland area but I really need to check out the Oregon coast next time I'm there.
I live/work in Salem, OR (about 400 miles from you). My family and I have been out here for a little over 6 1/2 years. Convenience for us is that we're 60 miles from the Pacific, 45 miles from Downtown Portland, and anywhere between 30-75 from various mountains.
I just moved up here for law school, so about 4 months. I really dig it up here...really clean air and the rivers don't catch on fire. Plus you have free reign to basically pitch a tent anywhere and camp out. Where you at in the PNW?
I'm old enough to remember it, and I think I maybe, kinda, sorta do. But I definitely wasn't making that connection without the prompt. If you'd given me something like "Mikey likes it", I'd have been right there with you.
Hello there..I'll assume that we differ on the whole playoff convo..and that's fine as long as we both love the BUCKEYES. I might have gone off topic in response to your last post in the playoff thread but I think my points are valid. Enjoying your comments look forward to the next one.
Five years ago, our teams were playing for a national championship ... this year, they're playing to stay above .500 ... how times change!
Civil Engineer. Takes about 2 years to turn a cornfield next to a stream into a coal or oil fired power plant.
