Ahead of her last NCAA Tournament, Kelsey Mitchell is looking to lead Ohio State on a deep run.

“I’m going to be straight up and down with you. Basketball was the most fun for me when the spotlight, cameras, media wasn’t important.”

-Ohio State guard Kelsey Mitchell via Graham Hays, espnW

Whether she likes it or not, there is going to be plenty of attention on Kelsey Mitchell in the games she has left for Ohio State. Currently Mitchell sits third all-time in women’s Division I history with 3,363 career points, which is 30 points behind Jackie Stiles for second place, and Kelsey Plum by 164 points.

Mitchell and Ohio State will open up what they hope is a lengthy NCAA Tournament run on Saturday against George Washington. Mitchell has accomplished nearly everything during her time at Ohio State, but the one thing that has eluded her has been a trip to the Final Four, and this year is her last chance to accomplish that feat. It would be even more fitting if Mitchell and Ohio State made the Final Four this year with it being held in Columbus.

Mitchell is in her comfort zone when it is just basketball and doesn’t involve all the media attention. Even though Mitchell says she hates the spotlight and having to deal with the media, she is learning to tolerate it. Mitchell prefers to let her play on the basketball court do the talking, and she certainly says a lot with it.

“I think he’s the greatest college wrestler of all time.”

-Ohio State wrestling coach Tom Ryan on Kyle Snyder via Bill Rabinowitz, The Columbus Dispatch

This weekend, Kyle Snyder will close out his college career at the NCAA championships in Cleveland. Snyder will be looking to add a third consecutive NCAA title to his amazing list of accomplishments. To win another heavyweight national championship, Snyder will likely have to beat Michigan’s Adam Coon, who he just defeated in the Big Ten Tournament after losing to Coon earlier in the year.

Snyder called head coach Tom Ryan to commit to the Buckeyes on New Year’s Day in 2013, starting the coach’s year off right. Ryan’s coaching ability and relationship with Snyder didn’t hurt Ohio State’s chances at landing the future Olympian, but the big reason for Snyder coming to Ohio State was because of the RTC in Columbus. If Snyder wanted to be the best, he had to train with the best.

Snyder hasn’t disappointed so far, winning numerous world championships, and becoming the youngest American wrestler to win a gold medal at the Rio Olympics in 2016. A national title in Cleveland this weekend would be the capper of an amazing Ohio State career, and set the table for even more success in the future for Snyder.

With the attention that is paid to the football and basketball teams, sometimes stars from other sports at Ohio State don’t get quite as much attention as they deserve. Not only does Bill Rabinowitz take a deep look at Snyder, but the photography from Kyle Robertson is also outstanding. After taking in everything written about him here, it’s impossible not to be rooting for him to close out his Buckeye career in style this weekend.

“I’m looking like, ‘We’re missing people.’ I’m like, ‘Where’s Tyquan (Lewis)? Where’s Jalyn (Holmes)? Where’s Sam (Hubbard)?’ It hit me like, they’re gone. Like, that’s your role now.”

-Ohio State defensive tackle Robert Landers via Tim Bielik, Northeast Ohio Media Group

How quickly things can change in college football. Just a few months ago, Robert Landers was lining up with defensive linemen like Tyquan Lewis, Jalyn Holmes, and Sam Hubbard. Now those three have moved on to the NFL, and Landers’ role on the Ohio State defensive line has expanded.

After spending his time so far at Ohio State as a backup and rotational player, plenty more is expected now of the defensive tackle. Not only will Landers likely be seeing more reps in more of a starter’s role, but he is also being looked at as more of a mentor for some of the younger Buckeye defensive tackles like Taron Vincent, Haskell Garrett, and Jashon Cornell.

It took Landers a bit of time to grasp just how much things were about to change with the exodus of Ohio State defensive linemen to the NFL, but the redshirt junior is embracing his new role. Landers has spent time getting in better shape to handle the extra reps he’ll see, and helping the younger Buckeyes grow on the football field. The combination of Landers and Dre’Mont Jones will give Ohio State one of the best interior defensive line duos in the Big Ten.

“We’re going to see who gets that spot. But I’m going to give my all, play my hardest and try to go out there and start.”

-Ohio State safety Isaiah Pryor via Ryan Ginn, Land of 10

One of the competitions to keep an eye on during spring and preseason practices is the battle for the safety position. With the departures of Damon Webb and Erick Smith, there is a slot to fill in the defensive backfield. One of the Buckeyes who will be in the thick of the safety battle is safety Isaiah Pryor.

Pryor set the bar pretty high early on after becoming the second Buckeye to lose his black stripe last year. As a freshman, Pryor continued to progress, earning strong reviews from defensive coordinator and safeties coach Greg Schiano before the Cotton Bowl. The positive assessment from Schiano also helped to set the table for increased expectations in 2018.

While it isn’t set in stone yet, it is likely Pryor will be starting at safety when Ohio State opens the 2018 season against Oregon State. Pryor has his feet under him after his freshman year in Columbus, and now it is time to take the next step. If the performance on the field matches some of the rave reviews Pryor has been receiving, in a few years he could join the list of Ohio State defensive backs taken in the first round of the NFL Draft.

The first-round game turned into a three-point shooting contest.

After being tied up at 43-43 at halftime, the No. 5 Ohio State Buckeyes prevailed in the second half against the No. 12 South Dakota State Jackrabbits, winning the game 81-73. The Buckeyes keep their dancing shoes on, and will face the Gonzaga Bulldogs on Saturday—once again.

Junior forward Keita Bates-Diop put on a tour de force performance in the first half, leading the Buckeyes with 17 points. He would end the game with 22 points—and also picked up five rebounds.

On the other side of the court, the Jackrabbits had a 17-point first half outing from a star of their own, Mike Daum. The forward went 6-of-10 from the field, with three of those shots connecting from downtown. By the time the final horn sounded at Taco Bell Arena, the Summit League Player of the Year ended with 27 points, and made five shots from three-point land.

Here’s how this one went down.

It took 88 seconds for the first point to be scored, courtesy of a David Jenkins Jr. free throw. Right after those freebies were made, Jae’Sean Tate knocked down a three-pointer to give the Buckeyes the early lead.

The game was back-and-forth, with no team pulling away by more than five for the first 10 minutes of action. The Buckeyes looked to be putting some distance between them 9:10 left in the half, as Kam Williams drove to the basket to give the Scarlet and Gray a 26-18 lead. However, Daum went down on the other end and knocked home a three-pointer.

That wasn’t the first instance where Daum kept the Jackrabbits in the game thanks to the long ball. A few minutes after answering the Williams basket, Daum broke up a five-point Buckeye run with another three, cutting the No. 5-seed’s lead to 34-29 with 5:42 left in the first frame.

Even though Daum was the scoring answer for SDSU, the Bucks worked the ball inside, and shot a collective nine made three-pointers in the first half. Because of this, OSU had, at one point, a nine-point lead in the waning minutes of the first half. It should be noted that the Jackrabbits also made nine three-pointers in the first half—and had a couple of them fall late in the final minutes.

Brandon Key made back-to-back threes to cut OSU’s lead from nine to three. Reed Tellinghuisen also rattled home a triple for SDSU right after Andrew Dakich connected on a shot from downtown, making the score 41-38 OSU with 2:30 remaining. Tellinghuisen would make the last shot of half (another three) at the 1:15 mark, taking us to halftime at 43-43.

If you loved the three-point shot, then you loved what was happening in Boise.

When action picked back up, things got a little bit chippy. Fouls weren’t being called, and the tempo crescendoed to a frenetic pace in the first five minutes. After having a hot first half, the Jackrabbits shooting got cold; three-pointers weren’t falling, and the inside shot wasn’t connecting either. Ohio State took advantage of this, with the help of KBD making a three, and C.J. Jackson and Williams working the ball inside for points—as well as on the fast break.

With 12:06 left in the half, the Buckeyes had their largest lead of the afternoon: 13 points.

That large lead would be chipped away almost instantaneously, as Jenkins Jr. finally found his three-point shot to cut the lead to 61-51. A missed OSU layup by Kaleb Wesson led to the long-ball being found again by the Jackrabbits; this time around, it was Daum that connected.

As the lead was nearly slashed in half, the Buckeyes found a way to get back up to double-digits. Jackson had a floater that went through, and Bates-Diop made two free throws after being fouled by Tellinghuisen.

OSU’s would hang on to the lead, as the Jackrabbits missed four straight shots. Tellinghuisen broke up the slump after jumping the route and stealing a pass intended for Jackson, which led to him dunking home the ball. At the under-8 minute media timeout, OSU still had command on the scoreboard, 65-56.

Off of the TV timeout, Tate went to the free throw line after getting hacked by Tellinghuisen. One of his freebies hit the bottom of the net—giving the Buckeyes another double-digit lead. Signs were pointing to a comfortable Buckeye win, at least for a while. Andrew Dakich stole the ball from Jenkins Jr., and stifled another chance for SDSU to get back into the game. With a tad over four minutes left to play, OSU maintained a 10-point lead.

However, Daum and the calvary weren’t going back home without a fight. Key banged home a three pointer, and then after a missed two-pointer for OSU’s Jackson, Daum sank a three from the far wing.

Just like that, the score was 70-66 with 3:23 left in regulation.

After Dakich missed a three-pointer with the shot clock expiring, Tate was called for his fifth foul after trying to get the rebound. With Tate’s afternoon over, Key drove down the other end and made a turnaround jumper to cut the OSU lead to two.

The long ball continued to show no love to Ohio State, as KBD missed a three, leading to Daum getting a good look on the other end of the floor. That shot didn’t fall, but Telvin King dove down onto the floor to force a jump ball—giving the possession back to SDSU by virtue of the possession arrow.

On the next possession, Tellinghuisen tied the game after sinking two free throws after getting fouled by Dakich.

It was all tied at 70-70 in the Taco Bell Arena—but for all off 19 seconds. Williams heaved up a three from the near wing, and drew contact from Jenkins Jr. The shot somehow fell, and he got the and-1 to go, too.

SDSU’s next possession ended on a missed three from Tellinghuisen, and Williams missing the shot. Dakich, though, gobbled the rebound and kicked it back out to Williams, who was standing dead center from the basket at the three-point line. Instead of holding onto the ball, Williams put up a shot. Just like the last time, he drew contact—but unlike the last time, this three-pointer didn’t fall down. All three of these freebies would connect, giving the Buckeyes an unlikely 7-0 run, and a 77-70 lead with 1:04 remaining in regulation.

The NCAA Tourney starts on Thursday, and the Buckeyes aren’t the only team worth keeping an eye on.

THIS. IS. MARCH.

Folks, we made it. For the next four days, Twitter will be a wasteland of trash talk and failed brackets, and then— if your bracket holds up— that trend will continue for you through the first weekend of April. Tip-off for the tournament begins Thursday, March 15 at noon ET, and every game is available via livestream.

Ohio State (No. 5 seed) will take the court at 4 p.m. ET on TNT, where they’ll face the Summit League champions, the South Dakota State Jackrabbits (No. 12 seed), in what some are already expecting to be one of the upsets of the tournament. However, considering the Buckeyes weren’t even expected to make it the Big Dance this season, playing even one game in the NCAA Tournament is a significant accomplishment for new head coach Chris Holtmann and his surprisingly feisty squad, who hopefully has used the last two weeks to get their bodies— and gameplan— ready for tournament time!

One early, interesting game to watch will be the No. 10 Oklahoma Sooners and the No. 7 Rhode Island Rams. OU was a bubble team throughout the latter part of the season, and it could be argued (ok, I’m arguing it), that they only got in because of their other-worldly freshman guard Trae Young. So, while the Sooners are certainly the more well-known name in this matchup, they aren’t the favorite; and even if Young goes for 60 (which he is absolutely capable of doing), that doesn’t necessarily mean that Oklahoma is going to win.

Also, all Buckeye fans should keep an eye on the 1:30 p.m. ET tip between the West Region’s No. 4 Gonzaga Bulldogs and No. 13 UNC Greensboro Spartans. Should OSU get by the Jackrabbits, they will face the winner of that game. Of course, Ohio State fell to the Zags in November by a score of 86-59. However, that was a long time ago, and before Holtmann and crew developed the mojo that carried them through most of the season.

One more early game to get you ready for the Buckeye’s Round of 64 contest is the No. 1 Kansas Jayhawks vs. the No. 16 Penn Quakers. No, there has never been a 16 vs. 1 upset in men’s tournament history, BUT, there might never have been a 16-seed as good as this Penn team.

Check out the rest of today’s games as well, and look out for No. 12 Davidson vs. No. 5 Kentucky at 7:10 p.m. ET. Assuming the Buckeyes survive the dreaded Jackrabbits, that could be your annual 12 vs. 5 upset.

UNC-Wilmington Series @ Wilmington, NC

BUCKEYES CLAIM MIDWEEK SWEEP AT UNCW WEDNESDAY

Ohio State finishes 4-2 on spring break trip and improve to 11-6 overall in 2018

WILMINGTON, N.C.
- The Ohio State baseball team finished off its spring break trip with an 8-1 win at UNC Wilmington Wednesday at Brooks Field. With the midweek series sweep, the Buckeyes improve to 11-6 overall, while the Seahawks drop to 11-6 in 2018. Sophomore right-handed pitcher Jake Vance claimed his first collegiate win in a controlled start, while sophomore Dominic Canzone had his eighth multi-hit game of the year.

SOLID CONTROLLED START, FIRST CAREER WIN
Vance was efficient on the bump in his first start of 2018. In four innings of work, the native of Canton, Ohio, limited the Seahawk bats to one run on four hits with one walk and three strikeouts.

IN THE BOX SCORE
Dominic Canzone
was 3-for-5 with two runs scored, double, home run and two RBI. Noah West, Conner Pohl and Malik Jones also had base hits in the road win.

BUCKEYES PLATE FIVE IN THE OPENING FRAMES
Just like yesterday the Buckeyes got off to a strong start, scoring three times in the top of the first against right-hander Nick Bruno. Canzone doubled down the left field line on a 1-2 pitch to open the game before West knocked an 0-2 count for a base hit. With runners on the corners, Noah McGowan lifted a fly ball to center field for the first run. Pohl drove in West on a RBI single to make it 3-0. In the second, Canzone launched his third home run of the year for a two-run shot over the wall in center.

JONES WINS IN THE WIND
Jones made two diving plays in centerfield early in the game to take away hits from the Seahawks. He chased down a ball in the left center gap to retire the first out in the second. In the third, Jones battled the wind straight on with a diving grab in shallow center field.

MORE RUNS
Ohio State continued to put pressure on the Seahawk pitching staff as the Buckeyes got the lead-off man aboard for the third time in the top of the fourth when Jones walked. The Scarlet and Gray had runners on the corners with one down and Brady Cherry hustled down the line to beat out a potential ground ball double play, allowing Jones to score the sixth run of the game.

The bats kept attacking, taking advantage of free passes by the UNCW arms. In the fifth, Jones knocked a two-out base hit up the middle for the seventh run. Following an infield single by Canzone to load the bases, a fielding error at third base allowed Dillon Dingler to score to make it 8-1.

UNCW SCORING PLAYS
The OSU defense gave the Seahawks their first run of the game in the bottom of the fourth. Miss communication between the OSU outfielders in the gap in left center allowed a fly ball to drop to plate a run. It went in the books as a RBI double for Cole Weiss.

BULLPEN PUTS UP ZEROS
Once again it was a collected effort by the pitching staff tonight. Left-handed reliever Andrew Magno tossed a scoreless fifth with a pair of strikeouts on one hit. Right-handed pitcher Yianni Pavlopoulos made his second relief appearance of the season and walked two and struck out a pair. Right-handed relievers Kyle Michalik and Thomas Waning put up bagels in the seventh and eighth innings, respectively. Right-handed reliever Seth Kinker closed the door on the Seahawks with a scoreless ninth.

UP NEXT
Ohio State opens the 2018 home schedule with a three-game series against Cal State Northridge Friday-Sunday at Nick Swisher Field at Bill Davis Stadium. The home opener is scheduled for 5:05 p.m. Friday against the Matadors. The opening series will be streamed on BTN Plus ($).

GAME NOTES

  • The game today concludes the Buckeyes' 17-game road swing to start the 2018 campaign. Ohio State goes 4-2 during it spring break trip.
  • Ohio State improves to 3-1 all-time vs. the Seahawks. The Buckeyes claim their first midweek series sweep of the season.
  • Cowles' career-high 12-game hit streak was snapped today. He's reached base in all 17 games in 2018 (career-high).
  • McGowan now has 26 RBI, which leads the Big Ten.
  • Canzone has eight multi-hit games in 2018.
RANDOM NOTES FROM AROUND THE BALL PARK

  • Last day of the six-game road trip for the boys. It's felt like a month since we've last seen Columbus. Thankfully, the beds at our hotel in Wilmington were heavenly last night. Just the right amount of softness and firmness. Plenty of pillows. Everyone got some healthy REM sleep time before getaway day.
  • It felt more like a chilly day in the Midwest on the campus of Wilmington today. Pretty brutal conditions to play baseball. Windy. Super, super windy. Like you're at a Cleveland Browns game in December. Or Buffalo. Or Chicago. Gusts were up to 35 miles per hour blowing from right to left field. That didn't stop volunteer coach Dan DeLucia from getting his routine long toss in. The only three-time captain in OSU history, and the Buckeye Baseball Eating Champion of the World, was seen firing missiles from the left field foul line to warning track in right center. Into the wind? No big deal. Some people are just blessed with handsome smiles and laser-rocket arms.
  • Coach Stafford had some fun in front of the camera with his staff before the game today. Check it out on our twitter page @OhioState_BASE. Or just keep scrolling down on the web.
  • The Ohio State SID once again got the hookup with the food truck this afternoon. He was looking forward to the BBQ truck, but it never showed up. Sad. But not to worry. He went right back to the Seahawk Food Wagon and got one of the most popular items on the menu, loaded tots. And boy, were they loaded. Tasty sweet chili covered with a spicy chipotle ranch sauce. Underneath those delicious layers were the jalapenos along with some green onion to enhance the overall flavor. Somewhere underneath it all were the tots. They were lost in the sauce.
  • Ice cream on a cold and windy day? Why not. Free ice cream was passed out behind the press box. The people at the stand were basically begging people to take some or two, or three. You can't waste good ice cream, but tough afternoon for fans to enjoy. Unless you're in the media. It was a pleasant and comfortable 72 degrees in the press box. No breeze. Perfect typing conditions. And a great environment to consume some savory treats.
  • Charter flight for the boys tonight to the `Bus, so that's all our random notes on the road for now. UNCW is a great place to visit. Friendly and welcoming. The UNCW SID even gave the leftover pastries in the press box from a local bakery to the boys. Best of luck the rest of the way, Seahawks.

The Buckeyes will look to avoid being upset on the first day of the NCAA Tournament, when they take on South Dakota State in Boise.

After a two-year NCAA Tournament absence, Ohio State returns to the big dance today, meeting Summit League champion South Dakota State in Boise. The Jackrabbits will be making their third straight NCAA Tournament appearance, and fifth appearance in the last seven years. Today’s meeting will be the first time Ohio State and South Dakota State have ever faced each other.

The last time Ohio State took the floor was nearly two weeks ago, when they fell 69-68 to Penn State in the Big Ten Tournament Quarterfinals at Madison Square Garden. The Buckeyes had a late lead against the Nittany Lions, but couldn’t make it stick, as Josh Reaves’ dunk with less than a minute to go was the difference in the game. Keita Bates-Diop finished with a team-high 25 points in the loss, while Jae’Sean Tate and Kam Williams each added 10 points. Ohio State has now lost three of their last five games, with two of those losses coming to Penn State.

This year’s NCAA Tournament bid marks the 28th tournament appearance for the Buckeyes in school history. Ohio State has posted a 49-26 all-time record in the NCAA Tournament, with their lone national title coming back in 1960. The Buckeyes have made 14 trips to the Sweet 16, and advanced to the Final Four 10 times. Ohio State has never been a 5-seed in the NCAA Tournament.

Despite never playing South Dakota State, Ohio State has faced a few teams from the Summit League over the years. The Buckeyes are 5-1 against current Summit League teams, with the only loss coming to Denver back in 1951. The last time Ohio State played a team from the Summit League was in 2013, when the Buckeyes defeated North Dakota 79-62 in Columbus.

Ohio State is hoping Kaleb Wesson has saved one of his best performances of the season for today. The freshman will have a tough matchup, as he’ll be one of the Buckeyes responsible for trying to slow down South Dakota State’s Mike Daum. The Ohio State big man can’t afford to get into foul trouble early on like he did against Purdue and in a few other games this season, or else the Buckeyes will have a hard time finding anyone else who can effectively keep Daum in check.

South Dakota State comes into today’s matchup as one of the hottest teams in the country, winning their last 11 games. The only loss the Jackrabbits have suffered in 2018 came in late January, when they fell 87-68 at South Dakota. Since then, South Dakota State has been able to enact some revenge against their in-state rival, beating the Coyotes twice.

The most recent win over South Dakota came in the Summit League Championship Game, where the Jackrabbits were able to earn their third consecutive NCAA Tournament bid with a 97-87 victory. David Jenkins Jr. scored a team-high 29 points in the victory, while Mike Daum added 25 points and nine rebounds, as he was named Summit League Tournament MVP for the third consecutive season.

After 21 years as head coach at South Dakota State, Scott Nagy left for the same position at Wright State following the 2015-16 season. The Jackrabbits turned to Iowa State assistant coach T.J. Otzelberger as their next head coach. South Dakota State hasn’t missed a beat since Otzelberger took over as head coach, compiling at 46-23 record so far in Brookings. Otzelberger was part of the Iowa State staff in 2013, when the Cyclones were bounced from the NCAA Tournament by Ohio State after Aaron Craft hit a three-pointer at the buzzer to give the Buckeyes a 78-75 victory.

What really makes the Jackrabbits tough to beat is their ability to hit three-pointers. So far this year, South Dakota State has hit 361 three-pointers, which ranks sixth in the country. The Jackrabbits are hitting 40.3% of their three-point attempts, which is 12th best in the country. South Dakota State hit a school-record 18 three-pointers in a win over Ole Miss in late November, and have hit 17 three-pointers in three other games.

What could set South Dakota State apart from Ohio State in this game is the veteran leadership the Jackrabbits possess. Not only does South Dakota State have star junior Mike Daum to attract much of the attention on offense, but they also have veterans like seniors Reed Tellinghuisen and Skyler Flatten, along with juniors Tevin King and Brandon Key. The experience of South Dakota State could provide the difference late in a close game.

Numbers to know

4

Jae’Sean Tate is currently 20th on Ohio State’s all-time scoring list with 1,493 points and ninth on Ohio State’s all-time rebounding list with 757 career rebounds. With four points, Tate will tie Troy Taylor for 19th on Ohio State’s all-time scoring list, while four more rebounds will tie Tate with Dave Sorensen for eighth on Ohio State’s career rebounding list. While it is unlikely Tate will be able to move up any farther on Ohio State’s all-time rebounding list, the senior could move up a couple more spots on Ohio State’s all-time scoring list if the Buckeyes are able to make a run in the NCAA Tournament.

9

At least Ohio State has a coach with some NCAA Tournament experience, since there isn’t much tournament experience on the Buckeyes’ roster. Ohio State enters today’s game with nine total games of NCAA Tournament experience, three of which come from Andrew Dakich’s time at Michigan. Keita Bates-Diop, Jae’Sean Tate, and Kam Williams all appeared in two games the last time Ohio State was in the NCAA Tournament in 2015. South Dakota State will feature more NCAA Tournament experience in today’s game, as they are making their third straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament.

84.9

Ohio State’s defense will have their hands full today, as they’ll be tasked with slowing down one of the highest scoring offenses in the country. South Dakota State averaged 84.9 points per game this year, which ranked sixth in Division I. The Jackrabbits are one of the best three-point shooting teams in the country, and they also make the most of their opportunities when put on the foul line. The Buckeyes will have to be careful not to fall into a hole early against the Jackrabbits, or Ohio State might not be able to play catchup against South Dakota State’s potent offense.

Cast of characters

Ohio State

Keita Bates-Diop

The battle between Keita Bates-Diop and South Dakota State’s Mike Daum should be fun to watch this afternoon. After carrying the Buckeyes all year long, Bates-Diop should be re-energized after having nearly two weeks of rest. The Big Ten Player of the Year enters the NCAA Tournament averaging 19.4 points per game and 8.8 rebounds per game. Bates-Diop has scored 620 points so far this season, which is 19th most in Ohio State history. If the junior hits his season average today he’ll pass Jay Burson’s 625 points in 1987-88, Evan Turner’s 632 points in 2009-10, and Jared Sullinger’s 635 points in 2010-11.

Kam Williams

If Ohio State gets into a shootout with South Dakota State, the Buckeyes will need Kam Williams to be on the mark. The senior started to find his touch late in the year, reaching double figures in each of the last three games. In each of those games, Williams shot at least 50% from the field, with his best performance coming in the double overtime win against Indiana, where he scored 15 points. Williams will be looking to record his first point in an NCAA Tournament game, as he went scoreless in 12 minutes over two games in 2015.

South Dakota State

Mike Daum

Not only did Mike Daum take home the Summit League Tournament MVP for the third consecutive year, but the junior was named Summit League Player of the Year for the second straight year. Daum is averaging 23.8 points per game and 10.4 rebounds per game, making him one of just three Division I players to average at least 20 points per game and 10 rebounds per game, joining Duke’s Marvin Bagley III and St. Mary’s Jock Landale. Daum is sixth nationally in scoring and has recorded 21 double-doubles this season.

David Jenkins Jr.

After coming off the bench to start off his South Dakota State career, the freshman from Washington earned his first start in December against North Dakota, and has started every game, except for one, since. Jenkins was named Summit League Freshman of the Year after averaging 16.1 points per game. The 549 points Jenkins has scored so far during his freshman season ranks eighth in the country. Jenkins has topped 20 points in 12 games this year, and scored a season-high 31 points on two separate occasions.
