CB Damon Arnette (All B1G, Houston Texans)

Former Ohio State football player claims he's made a complete turnaround in the UFL

A former Ohio State football player thinks he's made a complete turnaround when it comes to his career.

The Ohio State football program has been known for putting a lot of great cornerbacks in the NFL. While it's not at the same rate as wide receivers, they have still put in a lot of really good corners, mainly in the last 2010s. That was the heyday of corners for the Buckeyes.

Most of those corners have gone on to do good things in the NFL. Some of them have had some injury problems, while still others have fallen out of the league completely. The latter is what happened to Damon Arnette after he was a surprising first-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Arnette had a lot of problems in the NFL. He was released from the Raiders after just two seasons. He hasn't played in an NFL game since, only being able to make some practice squads. Now he's in the UFL, playing for the Houston Roughnecks. Apparently, he thinks he's made a complete turnaround.

Arnette claims that he's made a complete turnaround with his life, in addition to his football life. According to him, the coaches have him on the right track. In fact, he thinks that he's more of a professional than he ever has been in his life.

There are a lot of things that still need to happen for Arnette to make it back to the NFL. He still has to prove to teams that he can actually stay out of trouble. In addition to that, Arnette has to prove that he has improved as a cornerback. A few games in the UFL aren't going to prove anything.

Arnette was always a confident player. Quite frankly, he was cocky when he was with the Buckeyes. Now, that cockiness is back. He still has to figure out a way to prove to NFL teams to give him another chance.

Just two years ago, Arnette was indicted on multiple gun charges. He has to prove that those issues are in the past and that he is only focused on football.

2025 tOSU Defense Discussion

The Ohio State football program has one big issue that needs to be fixed

If Ohio State can clean up this issue, they have a really good chance to repeat as national champions.

The Ohio State football program is still one of the teams that has the best chance to win a national championship this season. Along with Texas, they have the best odds to win it all. Those two teams play each other in the first game of the season in the Shoe.

While Ohio State has a lot of talent on both sides of the ball returning for this season, they also have a decent number of players who have left. Because of that, there is one big issue that the Buckeyes must still fix. That issue is figuring out a good defensive rotation on the defensive line.

For years, the Ohio State Buckeyes rotated a lot of players up front on the defensive line. They didn't do that as much over the last couple of years because of Jim Knowles' influence. With Knowles gone, that rotation might start back up. They have to figure out what that rotation might be, now.

The Ohio State football team must figure out its defensive line rotations

As we saw in the Spring Game, there is still a massive issue when it comes to Ohio State and getting pressure up front on the defensive line. The Buckeyes were able to add Beau Atkinson to help with that, but they still have some problems getting players to rush up the middle.

2026 LA S Blaine Bradford is a Buckeye!!!

This 5-star Ohio State commit is already thinking about beating TTUN

This kid is ready to take down Michigan next season.

It doesn't take much to add some extra spice to the Ohio State football vs. Michigan rivalry. Leave it to 5-star Buckeyes safety commit Blaine Bradford to do just that. Bradford made a lot of fans happy recently when he said he's fully locked in with Ryan Day and he won't be taking other visits.

Now, Bradford has even more people talking thanks to an interview this week with Bucknuts 247, the OSU 247Sports affiliate. While speaking with Bryce Koon, Bradford didn't hesitate in saying he's already excited about playing Michigan once he gets to campus. He knows what the rivalry means and the pressure that comes with it:

Thread of What You've Eaten, Cooked and/or Drunk Lately

Reminds me of when my wife and I went to Paris. Our first night there we by chance wandered into a nice little place near our hotel and had a good meal. I still have a picture from inside. Mind you it's 8pm and dinner service is just beginning, we were the first ones there.

DSCF2323.jpg

We lucked out that night and got a waiter that was willing to humor us not speaking French and tried his best to answer her many questions that she asked in English and did his best to speak English although a few times he had to make animal noises to tell her what the meat in the dish was. She got lamb and loved it so after that she set out to have lamb as often as possible. The next few nights we hit bistros which aren't exactly gourmet places but being we were in France she had high expectations for the food. Our servers weren't as patient with her as the guy from the first night and you could tell she was annoying the hell out of them. She ended up ordering something random and both times it was stewed meat in a pot with vegetables which she didn't like. She even mentioned that the meat was unidentifiable to her. I joked that it was probably a cat or dog, many of both which were roaming the place, jumping on our laps. The next table was so close that they almost burned you with their cigarettes. That's France for you. I had a great time but my wife has sworn never to step foot back into France. The last straw was the night before we left. She had hurried to get to some museum she had wanted to see and got there at the exact second that they were closing their doors to newcomers. She pleaded with the guy to let her in and he just looked at her with the most bored expression that you can imagine, shrugged and waved his finger at her (which was holding a lit cigarette) and told her no and shut the door in her face.

Vacation: Beach or mountains?

Dubs, have taken three of the four (?) tours there. Try to envision all the movie stars that sailed up the coast to partake in Willie Randolph's parties. Pool is to die for, and the jar of French's mustard on the tremendous dining table is a hoot. (am more a Grey Poupon guy myself). Actually, when we get to Cambria, we head up to that area for a wine tasting and lunch. Sit out on a cliff overlooking the ocean, sip some wine and munch sandwich, and the stress and cares wash away with the waves. Tasting room is situated a tad north of the pier, where the boats tied up, etc. Probably a bit more than you bargained for, but yeah, we know the place. PS, rooms in the area are more cost effective than down in Cambria, and it's a great seaside drive up to Big Sur and Monterey/Carmel if you're on a road trip (except for the floods that wash out the roads - which are now closed currently).
The first time I traveled through Big Sur my father was bringing us back home from a summer in Oregon. He decided to take the scenic route down the California coast. About midnight we hit Carmel and he decided to pull into a rest stop to get some shut eye (too cheap for a motel). The only food he bought was a loaf of bread and a jar of peanut butter. Imagine trying to make a peanut butter in a car). We pull into the rest area and it's full of pimps, prostitutes and Johns. There was a beach behind the bathroom area and my sister was whining that she wanted to go down to the water which was a big nope. he ultimately decided it was too dangerous there and we hit the road again. We ended up driving all the way to Morro Bay before we stopped to rest again, he slept while we played on the beach. The drive down was nerve racking though because it's a rather curvy road with sheer cliffs on one side. I did enjoy the scenery was was a nervous wreck knowing my dad hadn't slept and he was weaving a bit. When I was in the service stationed in Victorville I took a lovely airwomen that I had met on a weekend trip. We started in Victorville on a Thursday morning (we both took 2 days leave) and drove to Vandenburg AFB and spent the night there. Beautiful drive. She happened to be from Ohio and never knew that California looked like that. The next morning we hit Pismo beach and then worked our way up north on the Cabrillo Hwy. I wish we would have done Hearst Castle but we kind of felt pressed for time. We made it up to Monterey and spent the next night. We messed around then decided to head back. Headed east and hit the 99, passed through your neck of the woods and headed east again at Bakerfield and pass through Tehachapi. It really is mind boggling how beautiful California is and that was just a small part. So many different regions with so many different landscapes. Even the 101 from San Jose to Paso Robles is amazing in a weird way. Those bald hill that look like giant haystacks.
