Stay in the loop on your favorite Buckeye teams, from track & field to tennis to lacrosse.

As some of the spring sports teams near the end of their regular season, things are getting interesting for Buckeye Nation, with plenty of movement in the rankings, exciting matchups, and individual honors to keep you busy bragging all week long.

Men’s lacrosse reaches its highest ranking in history

With their 14-10 victory over No. 17 Johns Hopkins in Maryland last Saturday, the Ohio State men’s lacrosse team won their 11th-straight game as they head into their regular season finale, moving into No. 2 in the polls, its highest national ranking in program history.

The Buckeyes jumped out to a three-goal lead early, never trailing in the game. Ohio State’s defense also held Johns Hopkins to a whopping 20-minute scoreless stretch in the second half. Senior Alex Marinier tallied six goals and seven points for the Buckeyes, hitting his career-high seven points for the second time this season, to lead the team.

The Buckeyes are now 11-1 on the season (3-0 in conference play). They’ll finish the regular season at home next Saturday, April 12, at 2 p.m. ET against Maryland (8-2, 1-2 B1G) in what should be a tight battle.

Kary Hollenbaugh and alumnus Maxwell Moldovan rep Ohio State golf brilliantly

Maxwell Moldovan, a 2024 Buckeye graduate and three-time All-American, won the 70th ECP Brazil Open on the PGA TOUR Americas, his first-ever professional win.

After shooting a 63 (-8) in the opening round, Moldovan shot 67 on Friday and 68 on Saturday. He finished 18-under par, beating George Markham by one shot with an eagle on the final hole.

At Ohio State, Moldovan was one of the most decorated players in Ohio State golf history, and he holds the school record for lowest career scoring average (71.25).

His win marked the first PGA Tour win for a Buckeye since 2019, when Bo Hoag took home the title at the WinCo Farms Portland Open on the Korn Ferry Tour.

Congratulations to Kary Hollenbaugh on a great week at her first career Augusta National Women’s Amateur! She finished even par and tied for 22nd place! #GoBucks pic.twitter.com/7lFUgF1ffA

On the women’s side, Kary Hollenbaugh tied for 22nd at the Augusta National Women’s Amateur on Saturday, shooting two-under 70 on both Thursday and Friday to make the cut.

Hollenbaugh will be back in action with the Buckeyes this weekend when they close out the regular season by hosting the Therese Hession Buckeye Invitational Saturday and Sunday.

No. 18 men’s volleyball stays hot with ranked win

In their final home match of the regular season, the No. 18 Buckeyes (14-10, 9-5 in conference) edged out No. 14 Lewis (20-8, 10-5) in a tight 3-1 matchup at the Covelli Center in Columbus. Junior Shane Wetzel led the team with 20 kills and 10 digs.

The Buckeyes dropped only the third set, with scores of 28-26, 26-24, 22-25, and 25-18, for their third-consecutive win over a ranked opponent. The Buckeyes also beat No. 10 McKendree (3-2) and No. 15 Ball State (3-1) in the two outings just prior to this one, all at home.

The last time the Buckeyes posted three consecutive ranked wins was 2017, when they took home the national title after beating No. 14 Grand Canyon, No. 4 Hawaii and No. 3 BYU.

Ohio State will head to Illinois, to face Quincy on Friday at 8 p.m. ET and again on Saturday at 6 p.m. ET to conclude the regular season. The 2025 MIVA Tournament will then commence on Saturday, April 19.

No. 3 men’s tennis and No. 11 women’s tennis win big

The No. 3 men’s tennis team notched its 20th win of the season this past weekend with a 4-0 sweep of USC at home on Sunday, ending a three-match win streak for the Trojans in the teams’ first meeting as conference opponents. Ohio State is now 20-2 on the year.

The sweep followed a Friday night sweep, 4-0, of UCLA.

The Buckeyes clinched the doubles point against both the Bruins and the Trojans with wins from pairings Aidan Kim and Will Jansen and Alex Fuchs and Alexander Bernard.

Against the Bruins, Jack Anthrop, Brandon Carpico, and Jansen sealed the victory with their singles wins. In Sunday’s match with the Trojans, the singles points came from Bernard, Carpic,o and Anthorp.

The men’s team heads to Illinois this weekend to face Northwestern on Friday and Illinois on Sunday, for their final road trip of the regular season.

On the women’s side, the No. 11 Buckeyes advanced to 15-2 on the year (9-1 in Big Ten play) after a 4-0 sweep of Northwestern on Friday, followed by a 4-1 win over Illinois on Sunday.

Against the Wildcats, a win from Audrey Spencer and Nao Nishino, plus a tiebreaker victory from Sydni Ratliff and Sophia Cisse-Ignatiev, clinched the doubles point. Singles wins from No. 9-ranked Luciana Perry, Shelly Bereznyak, and Ratliff sealed the victory.

On Sunday, the Illini clinched the doubles point, but singles wins from Teah Chavez, Spencer, Nishino, and Perry secured the win for the Buckeyes.

Up next, the team heads home to host Penn State on Friday, followed by No. 3 Michigan on Sunday.

Track and Field’s distance group posts four wins on Friday

Ohio State’s distance runners spent Friday competing at Ohio University’s Cherry Blossom Invitational, earning four wins and a plethora of top-five finishes.

Zoee Lehman earned the Buckeyes their first victory of the day when she won the women’s 1500m with a time of 4:30.74.

The Buckeyes had a strong showing in both the men’s and women’s 800m, with Alex Kenish winning the men’s race with a time of 1:52.39, while Jaxson Eckert finished third with a time of 1:54.05. Carina Napoleon and Amelia Figler finished second and third in the women’s 800m, with times of 2:10.12 and 2:10.50, respectively.

Colby Adams then earned the win in the men’s 3000m with his time of 8:30.23. Zubin Jha’s time of 8:36.19 was good for third in the event.

Teodora Iovi took home the final win of the day with her time of 16:39.39 in the women’s 5000m, a massive PR that shattered her previous best by more than 55 seconds.

The Buckeyes will split their time between two meets next weekend, with some team members heading to Ball State and others heading to the University of South Florida.

OSU Men's Basketball Recruiting/Projections/General Discussions

Didn't anyone, as a kid, buy Bazooka (more for the trading cards than the gum), and try to wheedle a better player for your 'hand' by giving up two or three people you never heard of? Life today reminds me of this. Except there's more $ on the line than the 5 cents. Once had the starting line-up of the Cleveland Indians. (lived in Ohio).

QB1 Will Howard (National Champion, Pittsburgh Steelers)

I’ve been hesitant to say because there’s been so many buckeye players I’ve been fans of…. But Will Howard is #1 for me which is wild considering he was only here for 1 year.

He was obviously very good as a player but he was just a different leader. The team absolutely loved this guy it seemed like and that’s saying something for again only being here a year.

I just watched the Gruden video and I’d honestly be shocked if he doesn’t do well at the next level. Watching that video though left me thinking we have awfully big shoes to fill this next year. Going to have to give these players some grace this year because normally in cases like this the step down from the previous years player is just too great.

Anyways, this guy was I think the perfect representative for the school. Wherever he goes that’ll be a team ill pay attention to like I’m sure most of us do with CJ Stroud.

People to Punch, Pet Peeves, and General Vexations (mega-merge)

Changing subject off of homeless people, and onto awesome drivers...
This happens way more than it should. There's a road I take to get to work that's 35mph. But people often drive 45mph. It's 2 lanes going each way, so there's plenty of room to pass someone who wants to drive 35mph. That's fine. Anyway, I need to turn right in a couple of miles, so I'm in the right lane. But that includes going straight through an intersection, first. The only thing I can think of about this jacknuts is that he's annoyed that I'm only going 45 and wants to teach me a lesson, because he passes me on the left at about 50, gets in my lane, and then wants to turn right at the intersection. So he has to slow down, and I have to slow down. Maybe he has "main character syndrome". Maybe I do.

2027 four-star wide receiver Damani Warren | via Blair Angulo, 247Sports

The Buckeyes offered multiple blue-chip prospects on Monday and is set to host even more recruits this week.

The Ohio State football team is in the thick of spring ball. The Buckeyes are a few weeks into spring practices and the current roster is quickly coming to form. There is a lot more work to do, and the team reportedly looked a bit rusty at some positions in a recent practice open to the media and students.

Thankfully, there is still plenty of time before the start of the season, because the Ohio State coaching staff is also extremely busy recruiting the nation’s best recruits. On what seems like a daily occurrence, the Buckeyes are both hosting recruits on unofficial visits and scheduling future visits as well.

Ohio State has hosted dozens of recruits already this spring and they will only play host to more. On Monday the Buckeyes added more names to their recruiting board as they presented multiple recruits with official scholarship offers. Below are some of the recruits who took to social media to show off their new Ohio State offer:

Four-star WR Damani Warren

Class: 2027
Hometown: Las Vegas, NV / Arbor View
Size: 6-foot-4 / 210 lbs.
247Sports Composite Ranking: No. 4 WR, No. 27 overall, No. 1 in NV

Recruitment Update: Warren was the marquee name to announce his scholarship offer Monday from the Buckeyes. Warren has had a busy spring and is quickly becoming one of the bigger names at wide receiver in the 2027 recruiting cycle.

Warren holds offers from the likes of Alabama, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Michigan State, Missouri, Oklahoma, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas A&M, USC, Washington and many more.

Brian Hartline is obviously great at bringing in elite prospects, but the Buckeyes will have to make up some ground in this one.

Four-star DL Vodney Cleveland

Class: 2026
Hometown: Birmingham, AL / Parker
Size: 6-foot-3 / 305 lbs.
247Sports Composite Ranking: No. 16 DL, No. 135 overall, No. 9 in AL

Recruitment Update: Ohio State’s 2026 class is quickly coming together but the Buckeyes have not yet been able to secure a commitment on the defensive line, an area the team is making a big priority in this class. The Buckeyes have offered almost 40 recruits along the line so far and adding Cleveland to the mix shows they are serious.

However, they have some competition for him as he also holds offers from Florida, Auburn, Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida State, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisville, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Missouri, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, USC, Washington and others.

— Vodney Cleveland (@Vodney_Clev) April 7, 2025

CB Ace Alston

Class: 2027
Hometown: Cincinnati, OH / Anderson
Size: 5-foot-11 / 165 lbs.
247Sports Composite Ranking: N/A

Recruitment Update: Alston has seen his stock rise this spring, even if his star ranking doesn’t show it. Ohio State makes it a priority to ensure the best recruits in Ohio state in state and Alston has the looks of being one of the best at his position in the state.

He holds more than two dozen scholarship offers already from the likes of Arkansas, Auburn, Cincinnati, Duke, Indiana, Michigan, Michigan State, Missouri, Notre Dame, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas A&M, UCLA, USC, West Virginia and many others.

Today was a good day #AGTG ️ After a great visit with @OhioStateFB I’m blessed to receive an offer to be a #buckeye Thanks @OGWalt_ for this opportunity and dropping some game @tylerwaltonc4 and @taverj look forward to connecting again soon! @CoachEvanDreyer pic.twitter.com/YlvQ6ksvFN

— Ashton “Ace” Alston (@acemoney_6) April 7, 2025

TE Zac Fares

Class: 2027
Hometown: Las Vegas, NV / Arbor View
Size: 6-foot-5 / 220 lbs.
247Sports Composite Ranking: N/A

Recruitment Update: Tight end is another position the Buckeyes are making a priority in the 2027 class. The team has already offered a dozen recruits at the position and they have now added Fares to that list. Like Alston above, Fares recruitment ranking does not reflect his impressive offer list.

Fares holds dozens of offers from the likes of Alabama, Arizona State, Auburn, Cal, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Oregon, Penn State, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, USC, Washington and others.

After an unbelievable conversation with @CoachKee and @ryandaytime I’m very blessed and very excited to have received an offer from @OhioStateFB #GoBuckeyes @CoachNorris34 @Coach_Brentley @BeauVinatieri @W_Bertoni58 @aggiefootball05 pic.twitter.com/aGEos3Kr77

Ohio State Buckeyes are showing interest in a transfer portal player that fits just what they badly need

Ohio State still needs to add some size in the front court and they are showing interest in another transfer center.

The Buckeyes have been in contact with Grand Canyon C Duke Brennan in the transfer portal

According to Rivals, the Buckeyes are one team that has reached out to Grand Canyon transfer C Duke Brennan. The 6-foot-10 center has also heard from schools like West Virginia, USC, Rutgers, Clemson, and Iowa amongst others.

Brennan is heading into his senior season and averaged 10.4 points and 9.2 rebounds per game in 30 starts for Grand Canyon. As a sophomore, Brennan started 35 games for Grand Canyon and put up 7.0 points and 6.7 rebounds per game. Brennan started his career at Arizona State and he appeared in 36 games with the Sun Devils, but played in just nine minutes per game.

Ohio State has three surefire starters at the moment with Bruce Thornton, John Mobley Jr., and Devin Royal returning. Tilly could be another starter for the Buckeyes, with just one starting spot remaining.

Bringing in two seven-footers from the transfer portal in total would give the Buckeyes the needed size. Bradshaw’s addition didn’t go as planned and the Buckeyes have to improve from that.
Really like this kid. Seen GCU play several times past couple years abs he's a hard worker. Maybe just what the doctor ordered.
