2025-2026 Ohio State Men's Basketball

10 games left...6 wins to get to 20 on the season.

Wins I see: Maryland, USC, Iowa, Ped State

Toss-ups: Virginia, Indiana, Wisconsin

Unlikely to win: TCUN, Purdue

Not winning: @Sparty

I think if they can get to 20 wins against what they have left, and maybe win a game or two in the Big Ten tournament, they get in. We'll see - they could easily blow any of the 4 games they "should" win at the top too...
Not happening.

agere. Count me in the gang who didn’t shoot straight when I thought we could bottle up the lightning of that late season run when Diebler was interim HC. Wow did it spiral down.

It’s just disgusting to see Nebraska, Michigan, and Wisconsin…..all big football schools in the conference…..have electric atmospheres and competitive basketball. Gene allowed the slide to start and continue….he flubbed the Matta firing thus limited the replacement to Holtmann….then the ridiculous extension which leaves us here.

It will now take us either playing one more season of shitball to save up to buy a real head coach.……or just pull the trigger at end of season and beg boosters to write the check. But we will be wasting out time unless we are prepared to sink some serious $ into NIL.

The athletic department seems like they are ok with this level of meh as long as there is no bad press and they can continue to just sail off the football team. Diebler definitely isn't getting fired this year and I'd be moderately surprised if he got fired after next year even if he misses the tournament again unless it's like a 10 win type disaster season. They are ok with playing the long game here which in the current climate of college sports is a complete joke.

There's really no flow of anything either, guys just kind of seem to do whatever they want to do, there's never any real plan. That's definitely on the coach.

I think this team is a tourney team (more than likely a first weekend out) with the right coach who has the ability to plan around and get the most out of what he has on the roster. Diebler 100% is not that coach.

Look Who's Transferring Now (The Portal)

I think like most things in life, it depends on the family dynamic and socioeconomic standing of the kid. And unfortunately many of these poor urban and rural kids, sports is the way out for many of them. Without it, many would be back at the local factory, construction site, some type of dead end job and hopefully not ending up on illegal means. For many family’s sad to say, this kid is the hope for them to have some type of family financial success. A lot of pressure for a teenager.

But I agree that a number of kids would’ve been better off staying at their first school.
They’re certainly going to have to adjust. Unless you’re a can’t miss kids really need to consider going to either a big time school to wait it out or even to a lower level to play right away.

Maybe if a four star kid went to Ohio University they’d play and do well? Then year two there’s likely a bunch of interested programs

What song are you listening to right now

Still remember 'Nothings Boy' from the HPLovecraft album...Lovecraft's books, still cause nightmares.
Captain Beefhearts' Trout Mask Replica used to give me nightmares. I don't have any vinyl anymore, sold it off when I moved to Alaska back in 1989 but I had everything from Hit Parade, 50's60's jazz and country, Beatles, Beach Boys, Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Yes, King Crimson, Rush, Grateful Dead, Alice Cooper, David Bowie and one of my favorite groups, The Statler Bros. I grew up in a house where there was always a radio playing in the bathroom and garage and often an album spinning on the turntable. On one hand I have an encyclopedia of musical knowledge in my head but sometimes I think I would have been better served filling my head with more useful stuff.

Ohio State Wrestling (2015/2017/2018 B1G Champs, 2015 National Champs, 2019 National Runners-up)

Really great dual win, really needed that hot start to not put so much pressure on the backups that had to wrestle. Way to step it up against that whore up north. As always, we don't give a damn for the whole state of *ichigan.

PS - The golden singlets are sweet, I want a pair now.

The problem is they aren't skilled either. Year after year this team has no strengths to beat you. They aren't going to out shoot you, they aren't going to out defend you, they aren't going to out pace you. etc

Thread of What You've Eaten, Cooked and/or Drunk Lately

Where did the Cubans get California Avocados? PS, what's the 'mystery meat'? Enough sauce, you can serve dog, and it'll be tasty.
Torta Cubana is a Mexican invention. It has pulled pork, ham, bacon, chorizo, frijoles, chipotle mayo, red onion, tomato, pckled jalapenos and the telera was fresh out of the oven. Forgot, melted provolone

2027 DE OL Layton Von Brandt (Verbal Offer)

Notre Dame can now see the light at the end of the tunnel in the race for a borderline five-star recruit once committed elsewhere

There is now an end in sight for a top Notre Dame recruiting target.

When elite 2027 Middletown (Delaware) Appoquinimink offensive tackle Layton Von Brandt decommitted from Penn State following the firing of head coach James Franklin, things moved incredibly quickly for the Notre Dame program. Head coach Marcus Freeman, Joe Rudolph, and Co. quickly opted to offer the Delaware native, and many believed they became the front runner. Things were in a great place.

With Von Brandt getting a second chance at the recruiting process, there was an intention to not make an impulse decision. While the Fighting Irish were in a great spot, and the assumed leader, he was going to let the process play out. That can be unsettling for the assumed leader, but things have continued to trend in a great direction for Notre Dame.

That includes with the Irish being selected as a finalist for the talented offensive lineman several weeks ago, being put inside of his top eight schools. Notre Dame was joined by Ohio State, LSU, Penn State, Tennessee, Florida, Auburn, and Virginia Tech on that list. It’s an impressive group of suitors, but Notre Dame had as good of a chance as anyone.
.
.
With a group of finalists known, the next natural question is what the decision timeline would be for Von Brandt. It appears we may have gotten that answer this past week, when the Delaware star posted that he target is around the start of his senior season. That means that the end of August-beginning of September should be when a decision and announcement comes.
.
.
As of today, I wouldn’t want to be anyone in this recruitment other than Notre Dame. With so many elite programs after Von Brandt, however, the Irish will have to be ready to battle. Rudolph has shown himself to be an elite recruiter since coming to South Bend, and this would be one of his biggest victories if he can close it out in the future.
.
.
continued

Just sayin': Based on the article, the same can be said for Ohio State.
