That's where they lose me with their argument. I keep trying to make sense of the logic of their position that a PT job outside of school at the local pizza place is okay, but getting a sponsorship from that same pizza shop is somehow out of control. All I do is just get my simple brain in knots.

Sources: Cincinnati to hire Utah State's Calhoun as coach​

Cincinnati is expected to hire Utah State's Jerrod Calhoun as its next head coach, sources told ESPN on Monday.

It marks a return home for Calhoun, an Ohio native who graduated from Cincinnati in 2004 and began his coaching career as a student assistant under Hall of Famer Bob Huggins as a senior in college.

Calhoun just led Utah State to the second round of the NCAA tournament, beating Villanova before falling to Arizona on Sunday night.

Utah State officials have been notified of his departure to Cincinnati, sources told ESPN, and per his contract, the school will be owed nearly $3.9 million, which it plans to use for potential candidates and the NIL pool for next season.

In two years at Utah State, Calhoun went 55-15, leading the Aggies to back-to-back NCAA tournament appearances and a sweep of the Mountain West regular-season and conference tournament championships this season.

Ohio State football junior deemed key to unlocking Kenyatta Jackson Jr.​

Ohio State Buckeyes defensive tackle Eddrick Houston needs to turn potential into elite production during the 2026 College Football season. If he does, Land-Grant Holy Land's Cole Van Wiechen believes Kenyatta Jackson Jr. and the entire defense, though Jackson was particularly named, will thrive.

As Van Wiechen notes, the Buckeyes' defense is heavily predicated on stopping the run without blitzing too much, relying on the chaos each player causes in his zone in Matt Patricia's oft-used Cover 2, 3, and 4 schemes.

"If Houston becomes a consistent disruptor, several things happen," Van Wiechen prefaced before saying, "First, it frees up Ohio State’s edge defenders. Players like Kenyatta Jackson Jr. and other pass rushers become far more dangerous when offensive lines are forced to account for pressure coming from the middle.

"Second, it stabilizes the run defense. Interior defensive tackles are responsible for controlling gaps and preventing running lanes from developing. A dominant tackle can force offenses to become one-dimensional.

"Third, it helps the secondary. When quarterbacks face pressure up the middle, their timing and throwing mechanics often break down, creating more opportunities for turnovers and contested throws. In other words, interior defensive line play is often the hidden engine of a defense. If Houston becomes the player his recruiting profile suggested, Ohio State’s defense could take a major step forward."

Houston has always had the physical tools. He simply needs to improve on technique and reading protection. With another offseason working with Patricia and, more closely, Larry Johnson, under his belt, it's easy to bet on Houston doing both.

Kenyatta Jackson Jr. will benefit from deep Ohio State EDGE room​

The Buckeyes added significant talent on the edge in the transfer portal. Alabama Crimson Tide EDGE Qua Russaw had the talent to be in NFL draft conversations. Caden Curry's draft departure undoubtedly hurts. Luckily, Ohio State predictably reloaded at the most important defensive position on the field.

With multiple pressure angles needing intense focus from opposing offensive coordinators, Patricia could have teams right where he wants them with Houston and Co. as the missing pieces in the middle. Curry got to the QB more than anyone else on the Buckeyes in 2025, and it's possible that Russaw could break out in a similar way this fall.

Remember, Russaw arrived in Tuscaloosa to play for Nick Saban, but soon had Kane Wommack as his defensive coordinator with the Tide. While he got a taste of great coaching under Kevin Steele and Freddie Roach, the defensive culture completely shifted in 2024 when Kalen DeBoer's coaching staff took over.

In Columbus, Russaw won't have those issues. Jackson should see his ship raised by all of the high tides around him. If he can make good on his immense potential, that's a future NFL first-round pick.

There's a reason Jackson's name came up when discussing the consequences of another defensive lineman's potential ascension.

According to On3’s Joe Tipton, the Buckeyes are already a school gaining traction for Cornell G Jake Fiegen, who is one of the best players currently set to enter the portal when it opens on April 7. Fiegen is a terrific shooter who knocks it down at a 41 percent clip from deep, and he averaged 17.1 points and 5.1 rebounds per game this past season.

Fiegen is a 6-foot-4 shooting guard who started 17 of the 24 games he played in for Cornell as a junior. As a sophomore, Fiegen started 29 games while averaging 10.9 points and 3.7 points per game. Fiegen played in 30 games as a freshman at 15 minutes per game and averaged 3.9 points.

According to 247 Sports, Fiegen is the No. 7 player in the transfer portal and No. 4 shooting guard. The former Cornell standout is hearing from programs such as Northwestern, Indiana, Villanova, Vanderbilt, DePaul, and Wake Forest.

Ex-Buckeye Marcus Williamson is facing up to more than 40 years in prison and will be sentenced on June 25.

A former Ohio State Buckeye who spent five seasons with the program is facing possible prison time after pleading guilty to nine counts of robbery on Monday morning.

Former Buckeyes S Marcus Williamson pleaded guilty to nine counts of robbery in a Franklin County court on March 23, with five of them being second-degree felonies, and the rest being third-degree felonies, according to The Columbus Dispatch.

Williamson was originally charged with 17 counts of robbery, six counts of felony theft, and one count of misdemeanor theft from bank robberies that happened in March and April of 2024 around the Columbus area.

Marcus Williamson is facing up to more than 40 years in prison​

The 27-year-old Williamson will be sentenced by Franklin County Common Pleas Court Judge Sheryl Munson on June 25. Sentencing options range from possible probation to more than 40 years in prison for the Westerville, Ohio native.

According to The Dispatch, court records say Williamson would give a note to bank tellers around the Columbus area saying he had a gun while demanding in writing money in dominations in $20, $50, and $100 bills. While Williamson didn’t make away from every bank with cash, he did get about $22,000 in total.

The chucklefucks won't give a shit if the teams are winning. But I think that this is a good hire. He won't be a sport jock sniffer, but he needs to know that is what sells the brand nationwide. That is not the most important aspect to his job though. Academics need to be raised up across the board. Focus on what brings in revenue and helps make tOSU a better public University. Rename the medical center (my hot take).

I'm not sure how, but the Schott is in prime real estate territory and needs revamped in some manner. Turn it into another Larkins center for students or similar sports (Make it the ice hockey arena for both teams. And during the offseason, it can be a training center. Switching over from an ice rink to a different floor is a pain in the ass.)

And get something akin to a stand alone basketball/volleyball arena (A new St. John Arena). Concerts can go downtown or to the Newport.
