This is the most "checked out" of college football changes I've ever been. I have opinions, but I simply don't have anything to get pissed off about. I figure this is due to a couple of factors:
1). It's all gonna change again in 3-4 years so why get all worked up about it
2). The crazy sport we all grew up on is long gone and dead and has been for sometime. Apathy reigns supreme
3). I'm getting too old to care anymore - just watch the games and enjoy.
1. Yep. And it's all very reactionary. If your favorite team didn't get into the BCS national championship game, let's change the formula so that your team SHOULD HAVE made it. See? Now it's better and fixed. I don't have a resolution, since you won't find the flaws in a system until the flaws punch you in the nuts.
2. Agreed. I used to love bowl season. I'd watch pretty much every game. When all the jerks out there were whining about the number of bowl games, I was in here complaining because I found 1 night that didn't have a bowl game. When Ohio State lost to Missouri I realized the bowl season doesn't matter. And when I stepped back, I realized that it hasn't meant anything for a long time. It probably hasn't meant much since the late 90's. And even then - did it really matter much before the BCS system? And, like you said, apathy reign supreme.
3. Not me. I'm still an angry teenager. I've refused to have birthdays since the mid-90s. My son may surpass my age pretty soon.
Seriously, though, you're right. There's only so many things worth whining about, and none of them are the CFB post-season.
