Yes, this is me.
It'll be interesting to see the difference in results. They got a title out of it. Obviously it shouldn't stick, but if it does....we're the dumb ones.Thank you.
Just like Harbaugh, Tressel had NCAA rules (at the time) broken under his watch.
Just like Harbaugh, Tressel lied to the NCAA about it.
Unlike the Harbaugh situation, once it got past the football facility OSU University leadership stepped in, played the role of adult and put an end to the bullshit. They did not allow football to put University resources at risk.
tsun, on the other hand, doubled the fuck down...SEC/old SWC style which ultimately puts the University mission at risk because of liabilities arising from this lack of leadership.
I continue to beat the drum pointing out that a University's mission and a pro sport entity's mission can be adjacent strategies but they cannot ever be core to each other. Education is the only thing that can lift the human condition in the long run. They should be plentiful and successful to reach the most lives possible. They should never be put at risk for professional sports.
As we witness this move to professionalism, don't wax nostalgic for the good old days that never really were. Embrace the new reality shedding more light on the misalignment and push anyway you can for the pro football teams to be split free from the Universities. It will be better for everyone.
Yea, as someone in the "these guys should have been getting paid the whole time" camp, I frankly could give a hell about eligibility issues. That includes tatgate, but extends to guys like Reggie Bush and Charles Woodson.Sorry, but besides that there’s no natty to take away for that, besides the likely 2012 one that they didn’t get to play for, what punishment hasn’t already been levied for a far less significant underlying offense?

I hate defending those clowns, but they had less than 6 commits at this point last year I believe and finished with a decent class. Maybe recruits are waiting to see what is going to happen with the NCAA.It's almost June and they only have 6 commits with only 1 being in the top 200.
They aren't really looking very great for any other top 200 players currently outside of 2 OL
So much for that "unlimited money cannon"
They also claimed to WRs were going to be pushing to the front of the line to play with Underwood, that's also been determined to be a big lie.
Also predictably Tony Alford has already whiffed on all their top RB targets.
The only other guy I can find that they are recently trending for is DL Ben Boulware (according to on3), whos #501 overall and the #59 DL in the 247 composite
What tCun has done is between 10 times and 100 times worse, but when comparisons like that list are done, I just don’t want tOSU’s transgressions to be ignored or denied, so we’re not in the ‘our shit doesn’t stink’ aspect of their delusional fans.
Ono is obviously a corrupt and terrible university President, but what I think allowed him to play this all out for so long is that tsun has a dysfunctional, rotten culture that simply can't conceive of themselves as ever being wrong...ever being the bad guy...ever not being superior to everyone else. They are image obsessed in a way that I don't think any other school in the country comes close to. They're not just obsessed with their image but actually deeply believe their manufactured self-image. Even when it was apparent that Ono wasn't up to the job and had completely fucked up the response to the football scandal, they reacted by giving him some ridiculous extension and raise. They couldn't look in the mirror and admit that they screwed up in hiring that clown; they doubled down on him. Same dynamic was in play when they just couldn't do what any other school in the country (even SEC schools) would have done with Juwan or the hockey coach. This is what has truly blown my mind about this whole thing - the cheating is what it is; a failing coach was backed into a corner decided he couldn't get the job done on the level and decided to cut corners to win. That's bad, really bad, but the fire could have been contained. Instead, the most snooty school in the country did everything it could to conceal, obfuscate, and generally just be pains in the asses about it from the very top of the university proving themselves to not only be the type football factory they always turned their noses up at, but the very worst kind. That high horse they've climbed up in for decades has been burnt to ashes.
