Bracketology and Selection Sunday Discussion

You want to say a game at PSU is an "easy" game because they've lost a lot of games this season, it's really not, but the bracketologists hammer you for losing. That's why it's harder for a high major team, as even the teams like PSU that aren't very good can on one day decide to play like they are very good. The teams that Miami Ohio has been playing would lose to OSU by 40 points, and that's not an exaggeration.

Going into today Ohio State had a WAB at 44. This is the new hot metric that was used last year that got North Carolina in the field despite having a 1-12 quad 1 record.

That win today vs Purdue should shoot that WAB up hopefully into the top 40 which is around where North Carolina was last year.

Going to be such a huge game at Penn State as losing there would undo almost all the good this Purdue win has done and that game won't be easy at all.
I already think WAB is BS to help mid-majors get more bids because they don't play many (or ANY in the case of Miami OH) Quad 1 games. Just a totally unnecessary metric to help teams get in with more wins against weaker teams.

Just snagged a couple tickets for next Sunday's game. A chance to see Bruce's last home game and maybe break Hop's scoring record? Just can't pass that up. Work can fuck off for those 4 hours
Yeah, it's probably shaping up to be the best home game to attend this season. But gotta find a way to keep the momentum going and can't stumble at PSU. Hopefully the team will continue to get healthier down the stretch.

Matt Barnes (Special Teams, Maryland)

Barnes joined Mississippi State in 2024 after previously serving as the defensive coordinator at Memphis and in roles at Ohio State and Maryland.

Barnes has left the Bulldogs in order to take a job at Maryland. He is back in the Big Ten, as is now the new special teams coordinator for the Terps. He is back in the Big Ten after five years away.

Losing to Penn State wouldn't completely kill the hope but it would put it on life support with no margin for error.. They'd 100% have to beat Indiana and then not lose in their 1st B1G tourney game. Then depending on the rest of the bubble/bid steals maybe have to win a 2nd B1G tourney game as well

Painter just can't solve Holtmann / Holtmann Legacy, lol. 3 straight losses to the Bucks - "hard to believe," indeed. But they have looked good 2 out of the last 4 games. If they keep playing like they did today, could win 3 or 4 more before the NCAA tournament. Got to close the deal and get Bruce to the tourney.

I'll give credit when it is due. This was by far the best coached game of the season (outside of the inbounding issues still being very much there) There was an actual team direction on offense and defense not just a mess of everyone trying to play 1 on 1 ball. Defensive limitations are still clear but if they can keep playing as a unit with a plan like they did today it will go a far way.
