Thread of What You've Eaten, Cooked and/or Drunk Lately

Although live in middle of California Mexican food territory, never had albondigas. Wifey makes a mean chili, and wonder if some creamy avacado might go nicely on it. And when we go out for Mexican, usually get whatever version of chile verde they serve (usually in a burrito). But have become pedestrian in eating habits. PS, just got back from C'bus, and have been impressed with the Cameron Mitchell's restaurants. Have been to four now, but gravitate to the one on Linworth and 161. Food is exceptional, service splendid, and the staff professionalism is outstanding. Anyone shared this experience? And which is your favorite? Will be living in the 161/33 area of Dublin, so anyone with some recommendations, please send them on! PS, daughter's favorite Mexican food did not have chile verde. (she likes the margaritas there). Here in Hanford CA, gas station food is a high art form. My Chevron station makes (to order) burritos, and very busy during lunch. So enjoy standing there with the masses, and then order (in semi-perfect Spanish), and have them stand back and look at the Caucasian speaking in their language, with a Castilian accent. Anyway, have a blessed day, and Go Bucks!
Finishing up the last of the batch that I made

Airport annoyances

The way airlines change gates these days, am surprised that a changed destination doesn't happen more often. Have been flying more, back and forth to C'bus, overseas, Hawaii, Australia, etc, so invested in a $495 American credit card that gains us automatic entry to the lounges (seems like wait time between legs is loooonger). Good investment, has paid back couple of times, and no waiting on the food. Some lounges are better than others, and large hubs have more and better served than the smaller. Anyway, far better than sitting in waiting area with the masses. PS, also lets one board earlier, so can get overhead bin space. Wife gets all the credit for this one....two trips left, River cruise this year in Europe, and next year for last golf cruise to Ireland and Scotland. (Wife likes cruises, cause all she has to do is get dolled up and show up).

If you want never ending high fives and fist bumps, try speaking Spanish in a Puerto Rican barbershop. It never gets old seeing the shock on their pencil beard having faces.

If you could change the outcome of one Ohio State football game, which would you choose?

1969 - without that 24-12 loss, the SuperSophs would have had a 3-peat. The Natty for the 1970 Coaches poll was awarded before the bowl games, and tOSU would have been ahead of Texas if they’d been defending 2 Natties. The loss to Stanford would have only affected the AP poll.

The Florida loss after the 2006 season and the 1976 Rose Bowl loss in Archie’s last game are the next closest for me.
This. I've been a Buckeye fan since '68 and no other loss even comes close...

Ohio State Wrestling (2015/2017/2018 B1G Champs, 2015 National Champs, 2019 National Runners-up)

Can visualize MPhillips room with a dozen TVs, all tuned to wrestling over next several days. Big chance for Buckeyes, although in my heart of hearts, believe everyone is playing for second place. PSU is too big a juggernaut this year. Anyway, will balance watching WBB and MBB with glimpse in the wrestling on B10 today and tomorrow. Go Bucks! Hope all our singlet guys are healthy and rarin' to go.

Neal Shipley (PGA Golf Pro)

Kid seems to have his head screwed on straight. The leap from collegiate/Korn Ferry to the PGA tour is immense. Good ball striking is assumed, most are putting contests. The numbers on Script's post are numbers I'd kill for, but as noted, not quite good enough. Practice, practice, practice, and then hopefully get hot for four days in a tournament. Seems simple, but hard to do. Also, hard not to get discouraged. But as said, he's got his head screwed on straight. And, keep seeing his mug in some commercials, which has to be a good thing, as he's making money while he's trying to make some coin on the tour. Hopefully he keeps his card for another year. Neal, hit 'em long, straight, and not too often.

Cryin’ Sherrone "L" Moore (Coach Crash Out)

So, Roller Derby Man.
Part of the biggest scandal in college sports history - he skates.
Fails to report assistant coach accused of rape - he skates.
Cheats on wife with staff member and fellow university employee, gives her a false promotion, breaking and entering, threatening harm - he skates
Next job: Jammer, Bay City Bombers

Jake Diebler (Head Coach)

After watching last game, have been scrutinizing how Diebs does coach. Do like how he interacts with players coming off the court, and how he moves his pieces around the board. Going small, going big, seems like his timing is good as well. Make no mistake, Thornton is putting the team on his back, and simply willing team to win (he does put a ton of effort into this as well). Team also responds well. As mentioned above, see growth in all the players. The Croatian comes in, and is playing far better than beginning of season. Mobley has come back from his injury, and his eye has improved accuracy. Devin is the Dave Lighty of yesteryear. He might not have the best statistical game, but he always is making an impact. Tilly is playing probably as good as he can, which is nice. Bynum has grown up, and making big kid plays, although wish he'd get closer to basket, never a fan of bigs taking threes. Appears as if he's learning from Devin, and swooping in for a rebound or three, putback slams. Anyway, hoping the kool-aid keeps flowing for Indiana, win two (or more) games in the B10's, and onto the dance. Through my S&G glasses, see a Sweet Sixteen berth......Go Bucks!

Lou Holtz (Longtime CFB HC, R.I.P.)

Was alive during those times, and somewhat sentient. Yes, the Dispatch had those quotes published, as well as the Citizen-Journal. Dad took me to Rotary Club where Woody was speaker. He was asked that question, and he unabashadly said, yes he did say that. Story of running out of gas in Xichigan, and him pushing his car across state line into Ohio because 'won't spend a nickel in that state', seems to me to be more of urban legend, but yeah, can see him saying that. I do know he hated losing Ohioans to Xichigan in recruiting battles, and although he never bad-mouthed those Ohio kids, he made side quips about their decision making processes. He truly was a bigger than life person.

Ohio State Men's Ice Hockey (2019 B1G Champions)

Swept at home by the domers, the worst team in the B1G. As good as they were playing the last couple of months, this was a total disaster. Probably not the type of loss that will focus a team for the conference tournament but rather one that will cause them to check out and let the season whimper to a close.
