Never realized that TSUN and tOSU shared Alistar Mckenzie designed golf courses. Has been my bucket list to play Donald Ross, Jack Nicklaus and AM courses whenever could. OK, take that one off my list, wouldn't pay or play up there. Maybe the grounds keeper, or greens superintendent is a secret Buckeye? At my course, if the greens superintendent loses a green, he would lose his job. That's why they hold incoming shots so well, he keeps them watered during our 108 degree days. Working at a corporate type job pays a salary, sometimes a nice one. However, that stability negates being able to earn f*** you money. Which simply means, 'you can take this job and shove it' as you walk through the door. Have more than once left/been shoved out of jobs, and when drove home that night, sang Cream's "I feel free" as drove home.

Couple of years ago, California seemed to be on fire, all over. Fires at Lake Tahoe were so strong, caused a haze down here in the San Joaquin Valley. Didn't have annual golf tournament in Tahoe, because several of attendees have asthma. Cabins in Shaver Lake area (still in Sierra Nevada mountains) burned, and resultant insurance rates tripled. Of course, Cali has a smog problem, but these fires compounded that by 5x. Still played golf though.

A long time ago, my wife's brother had a dog. I don't think we were married yet. But he had a dog. Then he moved back in with his parents, and the dog moved in, too. Then he moved out. And the dog didn't move out. Even though he lived in the area, he didn't go "home" that often. He's an interesting guy. Anyway, maybe twice a year he'd see them. And when the dog saw him, she was the happiest dog in the world. She probably lived 3/4 of her life without him, but she always remembered that 1/4 of her life.

Passengers aboard Ryanair flight FR1879 from Thessaloniki, Greece to Memmingen, Germany described scenes of panic and confusion after a man was reportedly almost sucked out of a window when the Boeing 737-800 suffered an uncontained engine fan blade failure shortly after takeoff.

High-velocity metallic fragments from the right engine breached the engine's containment casing, struck the fuselage, and broke a passenger window, triggering explosive decompression.

Officials confirmed there was no crack or structural breach in the fuselage itself: the window dislodged but the airframe remained intact. The aircraft, registered 9H-QEU, an 18-year-old Boeing 737-800, operated by Ryanair's Maltese subsidiary Malta Air, returned to Thessaloniki for an emergency landing.

Flight tracking data shows the aircraft was climbing through approximately 16,000 feet, approximately ten minutes after takeoff – when the engine failure occurred, before the pilots initiated a rapid descent following the decompression. Travelers on board recounted a sudden loss of cabin pressure, oxygen masks dropping from the ceiling, and the passenger being partially pulled toward the broken window – his head and shoulders briefly outside the aircraft, before his seatbelt and other passengers prevented a worse outcome.

What Passengers Say Happened​

Witnesses told journalists that the man's head and shoulders were briefly outside the aircraft before his wife and fellow travelers grabbed him and pulled him back inside. A passenger told state radio broadcaster ERT she heard a noise "like a tire bursting," after which people started screaming due to the cabin decompression.

Several passengers described the moment as the most frightening experience of their lives.

Others on board said the crew acted quickly, instructing everyone to remain seated with their oxygen masks on while the pilots initiated a rapid descent to a safer altitude. Cabin crew moved through the aisles to check on injured travelers and reassure those in distress.

One passenger described hearing a sharp bang followed by a rush of wind. Another said the aircraft shook violently before stabilizing under the pilots' control.

Dozens of beluga whales facing euthanasia at abandoned Canadian amusement park to be relocated to US aquariums​

Earlier this year, Marineland threatened to euthanize the whales unless the Canadian government could provide more funding for their care.

Dozens of beluga whales that were stranded for weeks at a closed Canadian amusement park will get a new life in the U.S. after American officials approved an international rescue plan to move the marine mammals to aquariums around the country.

The whales were left stranded at Marineland, an aquatic park in Niagara Falls, Ontario, for years after it closed to the public in 2024. Marineland continued to care for the whales at the park while trying to sell them.

Earlier this year, according to reporting by People, Marineland threatened to euthanize the whales unless the Canadian government could provide more funding for their care.
In response, supporters and animal rights activists have been calling on other aquariums to take in the whales. The Canadian Broadcasting

Corporation reported Thursday that a deal had been reached with the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration for an emergency rescue.

Under the plan, NOAA will help coordinate the transportation of the whales to aquariums in the U.S. that are accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums.

In a statement to CBC, Marineland officials said they welcome the relocation plans.

"We recognize we can no longer provide the long-term care these animals require, and we believe this rescue. . .is in the whales' best interest," Marineland officials said.

Under the plan, 28 of the 30 whales will be split among four U.S. facilities. Officials said 13 would go to SeaWorld San Antonio, three would go to SeaWorld San Diego, 10 would go to the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago and two would go to the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta.

The remaining whales would be relocated to Oceanogràfic València in Spain pending final permits.

Although the relocation has been finalized, it isn't something that can happen overnight. Beluga whales, although smaller than many of their family members, can reach up to 16 feet long and weigh up to 3,500 pounds. Moving even one, along with the water required to keep it safe and comfortable, is a massive task. Multiplying that by 28 is a significant undertaking for American conservationists.

“This rescue effort will take several weeks to mobilize and complete, and the comfort and safety of the whales remains of the utmost importance,” a representative of the participating aquariums said in a statement to People.

There’s no masking the sad truth about Seattle’s superstar raccoon.

The deformed critter who went ultra-viral for his bizarre backbone — and lovable misfit energy — is doomed to live a short life because his spine condition makes it harder to evade predators and hunt, experts told The Post Friday.

The freaky furball, dubbed “Jimothy” by locals, suffers from short spine syndrome, a rare congenital condition that affects “almost zero” percent of animals, veterinarians said.

“If he doesn’t have the flexibility and agility to move from predators, this could turn out to be a sad story,” said Brian Collins of the Cornell College of Veterinary Medicine. “I’d be concerned his biggest predator would be dogs or cars.”

Jimothy’s malformation could make it hard to climb trees, which raccoons use for shelter and breeding, and to forage for food, Collins said.

Animals with short spine syndrome also often have joint problems and compressed organs, which can make them prone to vomiting and constipation, he said.

Unlike domesticated dogs with the condition, there’s nobody to care for Jimothy — making the trash bandit more likely to kick the bucket.

“Most likely, since he’s not normal and he doesn’t have direct care like a dog, we would have to assume his life would be shorter,” Collins said.
