ESPN (A bunch of Death-Spiraling maroons)

ESPN refuses to give the Ohio State football team proper credit for Texas win

Suddenly, everyone at that network is rushing to say that Texas actually isn't that good after propping them up all offseason.

images%2FImagnImages%2Fmmsport%2F151%2F01k42tx0z7pt9ebmrecz.jpg

The Ohio State football program already has the most impressive win of the college football season, taking down top-ranked Texas in the first game of the season, 14-7. The Buckeyes were able to win the game by any means necessary, which is all you need to do when you play such a good team.

Ohio State totaled just 203 yards of offense, but won on the strength of its stifling defense. This is now the second straight game that Texas has lost, and both have been at the hands of the Ohio State Buckeyes. Yet, all we heard from ESPN was how good Texas was going to be this season.

Everyone at that network touted the Longhorns as the clear number-one team in the country. They couldn't stop fawning over Arch Manning as the best quarterback in the country. Now, they are claiming that Texas was actually overrated, and they refuse to give Ohio State the proper credit for the win.

ESPN insider refuses to give the Ohio State football team proper credit for their win

ESPN insider Heather Dinich did a piece projecting what the CFP poll would look like after Week 1. Instead of putting the Buckeyes number one, since they just beat the number one team, she picked LSU. The SEC bias could not be stronger for this company.

LSU had a solid win against Clemson in a neutral site, but they came into the game ranked ninth. Ohio State was ranked third. Dinich made the point that the CFP committee comes in with a clean slate and previous polls don't matter, but the main reason she didn't pick the Buckeyes is absurd.

"The Buckeyes beat one of the SEC's top teams, and they did it with a first-year starting quarterback, but it was at home against a Texas team that didn't live up to its preseason ranking."

So now that Texas lost, they were an overrated team that actually stinks? Isn't this the same team that Paul Finebaum said would crush Ohio State by double-digits? Dinich is usually a pretty unbiased pundit, but even she seems to have been infected by SEC Derangement Syndrome.

DC Matt Patricia (Official Thread)

College football pundits might owe Ohio State DC Matt Patricia an apology

It's early, but several college football pundits might owe the new defensive coordinator an apology.

images%2FImagnImages%2Fmmsport%2F151%2F01k42vsw49p1pmck7na0.jpg

When Ryan Day made the decision to hire Matt Patricia as the defensive coordinator of the Ohio State football program, a lot of people had questions. Patricia hadn't had a job in football for over a year, and he hadn't been a defensive coordinator since 2017.

Patricia had never coordinated a defense in college, which was perhaps the biggest question on the field. Off the field, Patricia had several questions stemming from an unsavory allegation. Yet, Day said he had done his due diligence and felt comfortable with bringing him in.

So far, so good. The Ohio State Buckeyes took down the top-ranked team in the country 14-7. The Buckeyes suffocated the Texas offense and didn't let them come up for air. Arch Manning looked overwhelmed, and a lot of that has to do with what Patricia was able to scheme up.

Matt Patricia looks like the right hire early for the Ohio State football team

While it's just one game, Patricia looks like an absolute mastermind for Ohio State. With how he used Arvell Reese and Caleb Downs, he looks like a defensive coordinator who is going to put opposing offenses in a blender all season long. Teams might not be able to figure it out.

f this kind of performance continues, several pundits should apologize for calling this a bad hire, including me. I was vehemently against this hire, although I did say I was willing to be wrong. After just one game against the number-one team in the country, I could not be more wrong.

We'll learn more about what Patricia has up his sleeve later in the season. Teams didn't have tape on him, so it was hard to prepare for this game. By the time Penn State comes to Columbus on the 1st of November, they will have an opportunity to see what Patricia's defense looks like.

How Patricia reacts to teams having more film on him will be the deciding factor on how good a coordinator he will be all season long. That Penn State game will be a tough game for him to call, but there are some other tough games before that game, too.

2025 tOSU Offense Discussion

The biggest worry coming out of a stupendous Week 1 victory for Ohio State football

The Ohio State football team did what was needed to win against Texas, but this is the biggest worry the team has coming out of that game.

The Ohio State football team must figure out a way to run the ball better

Ohio State wasn't able to figure out a way to run the ball at all in the opening game. Surprisingly, CJ Donaldson got the start in this game. He did score a touchdown, but ran it 19 times for only 67 yards. That's just 3.5 yards a carry, which is not good enough.

Donaldson was by far the better of the two backs that the Buckeyes trotted out. James Peoples was horrendous, putting up just 20 yards on 10 carries. He was constantly stuffed at the line and never came close to breaking out for a big run. His longest run was just six yards.

The offensive line has to bear some responsibility for that. They were fantastic in pass protection, but they simply couldn't move Texas off the line of scrimmage in the run game. Texas has a very solid defensive line, so the Longhorns certainly deserve some credit for that.

It seems like Ethan Oniwanwa is a total bust as a transfer portal player. He played 15 snaps at right guard and wasn't good in any of them. He was supposed to play left tackle, but it looks like he can't play any position up front. It's a horrendous development for someone who got paid a lot of NIL money.

It's highly unlikely that the running game remains this poor throughout the season. The Buckeyes will be able to figure it out and have this offense running like a well-oiled machine. Still, this is something to watch over the next few weeks.

Five Things to Know About Grambling State As Ohio State Faces First FCS Opponent in Two Years

157657_h_0.jpg

The ultimate challenge is followed by the ultimate cupcake.....

Ohio State knocked off the No. 1 team in college football on Saturday, Texas, and now faces a squad that isn't in the same league as itself or the Longhorns – literally. FCS Grambling State awaits the Buckeyes this weekend. It's the first FCS opponent they've played since Youngstown State on Sept. 9, 2023.

The Tigers themselves are fresh off their own version of a cupcake victory, and even as FCS foes go, they are not a strong one based on their recent history. But speaking of history, there is a rich one for Grambling State, one that dates back to 1926 in its hometown of Grambling, Louisiana. One of the premier HBCUs, Grambling State has two traditional rivalries with fun histories and a former coach so legendary that a museum is dedicated to him.

Middling in the FCS

It's been six years since Grambling State had a winning season on the football field, the last one being a 6-5 campaign in 2019. The Tigers fired Hue Jackson (yes, the Hue Jackson of Browns infamy) in 2023, following a combined 8-14 record across two seasons, which led to the hiring of current head coach Mickey Joseph.

Joseph started his tenure with a 5-7 campaign in 2024. Grambling State finished 62nd in the FCS in scoring offense and 54th in scoring defense. The Tigers faced one FBS opponent, the UL-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns, and lost 40-10. They went 2-6 in their conference, the SWAC.

This year for Grambling State is about building to a place to be competitive in said conference. Ohio State will be cutting them a nice check to show up for a tune-up game and fund those efforts.

A Strong Start

The G-Men, as Grambling State players are affectionately called, opened their season with their own cupcake competition in the NAIA squad Langston. The Tigers committed some big cat-on-big cat violence by trouncing the Lions 55-7.

Grambling State scored 55 unanswered points to start the contest and got its backups plenty of reps in the second half. Quarterback Czavian Teasett finished 20-of-25 for 210 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions, while five different running backs carried the ball at least six times, four of them scoring a touchdown.

Langston managed less than 100 yards of total offense in a comprehensive team effort from the Tigers' defense. No single Grambling State defender exceeded four tackles.

DT Kayden McDonald (National Champion)

WE SEE YOU, SLIM MAC. We all know how well Reese and Mathews played against Texas, but do we all know how well Kayden McDonald played? I’m not so sure. Allow me to make the case that McDonald had Ohio State’s most underrated performance in the season opener.

Last season, McDonald was Ohio State’s No. 3 defensive tackle behind future first-round pick Tyleik Williams and future fifth-round pick Ty Hamilton, and he collected 19 tackles across 16 appearances.

On Saturday, McDonald had nine tackles.

As a nose tackle!

Against the No. 1 team in the nation!

McDonald’s performance was special. It becomes even more special when you remember Ohio State’s depth concerns at defensive tackle, especially with Jason Moore out for the game with a lower-leg injury.

Like with Reese, however, Ohio State’s coaches and players tried to tell us about McDonald — heck, McDonald tried to tell us about McDonald!

“It started in the offseason, fixing my diet, getting my weight down, having Coach Mick (Marotti) on me every day,” McDonald said in August of his offseason transformation as he prepared for a starting role. “I just kept working.”

His work paid off in the season opener. He hopes it will next week, too.

“We worked really hard in the offseason. It showed today,” McDonald said after the game. “We just got to keep building off of it and just keep going.”

Just sayin': Here is another guy on defense (that nobody has mentioned much about yet) that really stepped up his game Saturday.
Dude is going to make a lot of money if he keeps it up.

Just sayin': Grambling (1-0) put up some pretty impressive numbers Saturday.
Grambling 55 - Langston Lions 7
I anticipate 55 points being scored Saturday, just not by grambling.

Cincinnati Reds (2025 is our year! Haha thats actually funny)

I saw Aroldis Chapman has a 1.00 e.ra with the Red Sox this year. I couldn't remember who the Reds got back for him when they traded him to the Yankees so I looked it up. This might be the pooh poohiest pu pu platter of all time---Eric Jagielo, Caleb Cotham, Rookie Davis, Tony Renda. Literally never heard of any of them.

Cotham, Davis, and Renda all appeared for the Reds for short stints, but they all sucked hard. Yanks traded him to the Cubs not long after and got more for him than the Reds did, including Gleyber Torres.

Absolutely pitiful. There’s a reason why this organization has sucked for 30 years.

2025 scUM Shenanigans, Arguments, Arrogant Twatwaffles, Emasculated Cucks, Feckless Marmots, Dirty Cheaters

Serious question: why do TTUN fans always do this? Why can't they help themselves? I have a feeling that most of their fans don't find this cringe worthy.

They can't help themselves. They are raving about their WRs over on GoBlow as well.

This after throwing for 250 yards against a team who finished 129/134 in pass D (they allowed over 350 passing yards 6 times) last year while also being on their 3rd set of coaches in 3 years. It's about as close to playing a HS defense as you can get when it comes to FBS competition.

This game vs New Mexico would be concerning for most fan bases. They are probably worse than last year (Their good running QB transferred to Utah and they replaced him with a FCS player) and last year they lost to Arizona (4-8) and Auburn (5-7) by more than Michigan this year. But of course DFBIA is out here acting like it was a star studded performance
