Game Thread #1 tOSU at Washington, Sat. Sept. 27th, 3:30 ET, CBS

Beat me to it. I was gonna say, if youre worried about Jake Locker's Washington, well... I think the Bucks will be just fine.

UW is currently 2-0 after wins against Colorado State and UC Davis

They have the Apple Cup this weekend against Pac2 stalwart Washington State.

Just going by stats sites, with so little data to work with, they look like a fringe top 25/30 kind of team. The only thing that jumps out at me is they run the ball (so far) 65% of the time.

Given the schedule there could be good reasons for that (so bad they don't have to pass) but their yards per attempt is a very meh 5.5 against those two teams.

If they are that one dimensional against OSU they are in for a long day but no one knows shit yet. We shall see.

2025 Heisman Trophy Discussion

Its because there is no "best qb" award. How else is a qb supposed to win hardware? He can't win Outland, ya know?

Qbs have long been under appreciated for what they bring to a team. We all know this.

True.

If I was going to create some kind of QB award, I'd name it after some Irish prick no one has ever heard of before. Just confuse the fuck out of people. Like Jimmy O'Bannon or something. Even funnier in this day and age when most QB's are black guys.

Texas Longhorns (big hat, no cattle; please don’t Horns Down us)

Doesn't matter. Day himself said they could have opened it up more if they had to. Already winning by 2 tds late in the 4th. Gave up a garbage time score and turtled up to run out the clock. OSU was clearly the superior team, and would have scored more if they didn't start from inside the 10 yard line like 4 times.

If Texas doesn't make the playoffs I won't care, probably the best defense in the country besides ours, and no other is nearly as good with the exception of maybe LSU and PSU. So not having to face them again wouldn't be a bad thing in my view.

It matters when the SEC spinsters marginalize OSU and the B1G 10. Impacts poll rankings, seeding and whether other B1G teams make the playoffs. Recruiting and even donations can be impacted.

I don't know, Jake Locker really liked throwing the ball to our guys in that 07 game.

2025 Heisman Trophy Discussion

When did the Heisman committee decide they would die on the hill of the award going to a QB?

I know it's generally been a QB award for a long time but I don't recall ever seeing it be this forced.

This is sad.

J.J. McCarthy (once a tCun, always a tCun)

Which is what one says about all the really great QB's.....
I remember a couple years ago there was a Heisman contending QB, something happened, and all of a sudden he's throwing 3 passes in the biggest game of the season. So it's definitely not unheard of to take the ball out of the hands of a great QB.

NFL Discussion (Official Thread)

Your take is that Mahomes has been ineffective without Hill. To the point of comparing him with a 50% NFL passer that was Tebow.
Correct
Since Tyreek left, Mahomes has won more Superbowls than he did with him.
OK, and?

We're talking about 2 different things. Obviously the goal of the team is to win Super Bowls. I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about him and this lofty status of the elite of the elite when it comes to being a quarterback. He's not what they say he is. Nobody is fawning all over the QB prowess of Super Bowl winning Jalen Hurts. It's because he's not really that great of a QB, either. He tush pushes his way to wins.

Mahomes has regressed each year in every single metric that is used to measure QBs. I posit that's because he's not a QB. He's an H Back with a black and white striped bubble protecting him.

RB Lamar "Bo" Jackson (Official Thread)

He reminds me a lot of Kenneth Walker....for comparison sake, I'm posting Walker's video from his Wake Forest days. Obviously Walker was a monster at MSU when he transferred as an upper-classmen. I think the vision and shake in the hole are pretty comparable....and they both run physical. Bo is slightly taller, whereas Walker carried his 217 lbs in a more compact frame, but I personally like the comparison.
