Ohio State national champion has a new gig as a high school football coach

Former Ohio State QB Cardale Jones earns new high school coaching gig​

The Staples football program in Connecticut announced that Jones has been added to the coaching staff. They have won five state championships in their history, with their most recent one coming in 2023. Jones will now join their staff to help them in their journey.

Jones is a busy man, as this is not his only job. He also works as an analyst for CBS Sports, and he will be doing work for them this Fall. In addition to that, he has a podcast that he records locally in Ohio with former Ohio State running back Beanie Wells and sports director Dave Holmes.

This will be a new endeavor for Jones, as he doesn't have any previous coaching experience. However, as a quarterback, he has a lot of knowledge about offenses. He should be able to help some high school students learn how to process the offense better.

Jones is the QB Coach for the Wreckers, so he will be in charge of teaching the quarterbacks how to process information. Jones was able to execute an Ohio State offense to the highest level, so that will be invaluable experience for those high school kids to have.

  • Day said Brandon Inniss, Phillip Bell and Devin McCuin will be Ohio State’s punt returners against Ball State. If things keep trending in the right direction, “Legend Bey will take the first kickoff back.”
  • When asked about Bey returning kicks and earning trust back from the coaches, Day said Bey controlled the response and “the response since then has been much better.” Day said Bey has habits he still needs to improve on and has lots to learn about playing the running back at the college level. “It’s not all been perfect but I also think we see the explosiveness when the ball is in his hands.”
  • Day said Bey’s primary responsibility is to take care of the football against Ball State on Saturday. Day said Ohio State’s coaches trust him to take care of the football and let his training kick in and natural instincts take over.

ehhh maybe....I don't think Sparty's leadership is going to give Fitz the keys to the castle like IU did. We'll see of course.
