2025 College Football Playoffs Discussion (12 Team Format)

The biggest joke is Bama getting nuked in the SEC title game and not even moving at all.

The committee has ALOT to answer for this season. I’m all for bringing back the computers to determine our Top 12.

But the fact that Bama didn’t move at all after losing by 21 and Georgia didn’t move it all after winning by 21 is pretty indicative of a “let’s just get through this bullshit so we don’t have to answer any more questions” mindset from the committee.

Notre Dame (football only discussion)

Their AD is doing the press junket today already. About the 3rd or 4th show I’ve seen quotes from this morning.

Fuck ND. Their arrogance really led them to believe that the ACC would lobby for them over Miami. It's beyond delusional and has crossed over into psychotic. As for the ACC, you knew they were snakes when you invited them in.

OC/WR Coach Brian Hartline (National Champion, HC at USF)

I think the IU game showed that he's not a finished product as an OC. Maybe he'll be a CEO-type of HC.
Oh I think we've all known that. I'm pretty sure Day has had a hand in calling plays alongside him all year.
USF is hiring him to make a splash with a young, up and coming coordinator who can recruit, and they can brag that they landed him for big ol OSU.

2025 tOSU Offense Discussion

Some perspective after last night using a mix of BCFtoys (what you have done on the field) CFB graphs data (how you have done it):

SUMMARY TABLE — DEFENSIVE QUALITY (OSU SIDE ONLY)

Team DFEI Rank DSR Rank DAY Rank Overall Danger to OSU
Indiana #3 #3 #5 Very High
Miami #7 #10 #7 Moderate
Georgia #13 #12 #17 Moderate–Low
Texas A&M #14 #15 #17 Low
Ole Miss #22 #15–20 #15 Low
Tulane #30+ #25+ #35+ Negligible
IU is far and away the best defense we will face before a possible rematch with it.

None of:
-Georgia
-Miami
-A&M
-Ole Miss
are even close.

Indiana:
best early-down efficiency
top-tier drive denial
elite finishing drives allowed
elite available-yards suppression
elite FEI stability
best red-zone constraints
best suited for OSU’s style (this is the killer)

Georgia/Miami/A&M simply cannot replicate the same "structural discomfort" IU can create.

Great data. I bet Georgia is trending upwards though over last 4-5 games. Not a shock but I think Indiana (#1 seed) and Georgia (#3 seed) are the biggest threats to OSU.

I think the answer is that the committee started with the result they wanted, then rationalized their selections by adjusting the evaluation criteria until it provided that result. In their defense, we all do this to some extent. Sometimes without even realizing it.
And we could see it coming the week before, when they moved Bama ahead of ND after they barely survived at Auburn while ND obliterated Stanford. The only justification was that an ND loss got a little less forgivable once aTm was no longer undefeated. But losing to a #7 team as compared to a #3 team (aTm before they lost) isn’t much of a difference. They just wanted Bama ahead of ND to protect them prior to their upcoming loss to UGA.

2025 tOSU Offense Discussion

One thing I would like them to consider in the red zone.

Have 3 or 4 WRs and let Sayin audible (verbal or hand signals, ones not used before). There were a handful of occasions where it looked like a slant to JJ was easy pickings in the red zone on Saturday.

Study the hell out of what the opposing defenses do against each formation, shift to that formation after the 15-second mark (so there’s no electronic communication available to the defenses green-dot LB), and then go quickly after getting into the new formation and sending the signal to the WRs. They shouldn’t need more than 2 seconds of pass pro on these plays, and don’t try to go past the second read if the first one looks too well-covered after the snap, just throw it through the end zone.

I think Julian would be able to handle this, especially with the extra prep time before games now.

2025 Cotton Bowl BMW Thread: tOSU vs FairWeatherConvicts Led by this Generation's Chuck Amato

This is the BMW thread. Land of the free, home of the brave where negativity is the rule and The Lunatics rage.

This thread is for those that want to Bitch/Moan/Whine (BMW) during the Cotton Bowl. The B1G Championship showed me that we have a lot of posters that don't realize this thread exists or that it's the one place dedicated for 1) some cheesy-ass complaining and mischief and 2) the outright negative nancies that show their true selves when the Buckeyes don't operate to the poster's expectations.
Then there's @AuTX Buckeye and @Honor&Glory lead the charge, and @BuckBackHome that always holds me to a tight timetable to get this back up and running with a quickness.
Tagging @BB73 @LordJeffBuck to pin this thread (should they choose to accept it).

The incocsistency of the committee is better questioned by pointing out that:

Bama lost to #3 by 21 in a CCG and didn’t drop below ND

BYU lost to #4 by 22 in a CCG and dropped below Miami

That combination allowed ND and Miami to get next to each other and have the head-to-head result come into play.

I think the committee decided to throw the ACC a bone and not leave them completely out. Think if UVA had won ND would be in

B1G CCG: #1 tOSU vs #2 Indiana in Indy, Sat. Dec 6th, 8 ET on FOX

What ? You don't want the smallest QB we've had in the last couple decades responsible for crashing into a line of huge lineman ? :smash:

We're already telegraphing it's a run play with the four TE on the field.
They definitely need to do a better job of calling running plays from what look like passing formations and calling pass plays from what look like run formations.
