OSU Men's Basketball Recruiting/Projections/General Discussions

Starters getting in at the last second is starting to annoy me. Last year Okpara now this.

If you want to get in the portal explore that's fine. But the I'm coming back never mind now you need to replace me when options have dwindled is rough.

I think Stewart is replaceable, it sucks to lose him this late but better him than Thornton Royal or Mobley

Colorado Buffaloes (official thread)

Anyone shocked by this?

The most damning quote came from a "longtime NFL assistant coach," who ripped Sanders' attitude, body language and performance during the team's formal interview.

One longtime NFL assistant coach said his time with Sanders was "the worst formal interview I've ever been in in my life. He's so entitled. He takes unnecessary sacks. He never plays on time. He has horrible body language. He blames teammates. ... But the biggest thing is, he's not that good."

WR Jeremiah Smith (All B1G, B1G Frosh/WR of Year, All-American, 2025 Rose Bowl Off MVP, National Champion)

Never heard a single negative anything about him. Not 1
I heard some people complaining about Jeremiah while on location in Columbus for Gameday. Something about how he wasn't saving some pussy for the rest of us.

2025 College Football Playoffs Discussion (12 Team Format)

Rose Bowl's Longstanding Start Time to Change for 2025 College Football Playoff

The traditional epicenter of the sport has bowed to the god of television.

The Rose Bowl—once the bulwark of little-c conservatism in college football—has made another concession to modernity.

College football's oldest bowl game is moving its kickoff from 2 p.m. PT to 1 p.m. PT—or from 5 p.m. ET to 4 p.m. ET—on New Year's Day 2026, the College Football Playoff announced Tuesday afternoon. The announcement was made as part of the CFP's general announcement of its quarterfinal, semifinal and national championship schedules for the 2025 season.

"All three bowls shifting their start times allows us to place each game in an ideal window on New Year's Day and provide the optimal viewing experience. New Year's Day and college football are synonymous with each other, and these changes only strengthen that relationship," CFP executive director Rich Clark said in a statement.

Though the Rose Bowl has moved around before, the timing of the game—which coincides with the third-quarter sunset over the nearby San Gabriel Mountains—has long been considered essential to its mystique.

Just sayin': Moving the game up an hour makes it a little tighter to see the parade, have some lunch, and get to the stadium (and in your seat) before kickoff.

Stanford Cardinal (official thread)

Andrew Luck Seen Playing Scout Team Quarterback at Stanford Spring Practice

The 35-year-old can't quit it just yet.

images%2FImagnImages%2Fmmsport%2Fsi%2F01jsfhck8sftesd63kdd.jpg

Upon his abrupt retirement from the NFL back in 2019, the question immediately began to be asked: Will Andrew Luck ever play football again?

Though he never did return to the field—despite an attempt from Frank Reich, the then-Indianapolis Colts coach, to lure him back—Luck is now serving as general manager for the Stanford Cardinal football team and scratching the itch in a different way.

In a video shared by Stanford on 247Sports on X (formerly Twitter), Luck could be seen playing scout team quarterback during a Stanford spring ball practice. Check it out:

Just sayin': I would think that the Stanford coaches would want to give an actual QB on the team the "reps". I guess it was just a publicity stunt.
"Come to Stanford, and in practice you can catch passes from Andrew Luck."

Or...
Next week's QB is a good pocket-passer. All of our backups are running quarterbacks. Andrew Luck gives the best practice for our defense.

I think your "publicity stunt" guess is probably right.

Sean Stewart is in the transfer portal, so we're seeing more forwards connected with OSU now because a spot has opened up there.

UCLA Bruins (official thread)

UCLA Coach Explains Decision to Sign Nico Iamaleava After Departure From Tennessee

Deshaun Foster spoke to the media about adding Nico Iamaleava for the first time.

Nico Iamaleava officially committed to play football at UCLA last week, returning to his home state after spending his first two seasons of college football at Tennessee. Iamaleava entered the transfer portal after skipping Tennessee's practice the day before the team’s spring game, and coach Josh Heupel announced the following day they planned to move on.

Reports indicated that Iamaleava was looking for a greater NIL deal at Tennessee, but Bruins head coach Deshaun Foster told reporters that returning to California and being closer to family led to Iamaleava choosing to join UCLA. Foster did characterize Iamaleava's NIL deal as a "success," but did not provide any further specifics on the terms.

As for UCLA adding Iamaleava, Foster called the opportunity one the team could not turn down. "Being able to bring in the No. 1 player in the portal, just something we couldn't pass up," Foster said.

“6'6", this is a big guy,” Foster said. “A true competitor. Fiery. Big arm. And then, it’s gonna—keeping the California kids and L.A. kids here, you know? This is a big thing.”

Foster emphasized that Iamaleava is an important addition for the team. For one, he wants to land local talent and recruits, a goal he's emphasized since UCLA hired him as head coach. Bringing in Iamaleava also put a greater spotlight on the Bruins, who are still looking to make their mark in the Big Ten.

“You want to be in conversations, you want to play big-time ball, you want to have haters, you want all of this stuff,” Foster said, “because that means that you’re trending in the right direction. So, if you want to play big-time ball, you can do that here at UCLA. I got a quarterback situation that’s gonna pan out for us.”

Just sayin': Yeah, the reality is that having "haters" is a very good thing. It means that the other team's fans are jealous of your success.
