Cleveland Browns (Factory of Sadness)

I think Stefanski was an amazing play caller prior to be being neutered by the FO.

His run game concepts mixed with play action are incredible. He’s done wonders with average QB’s so not sure why the Browns thought jamming a guaranteed $230M QB in DeShaun Watson was a good idea….

I don’t love the QB room in Atlanta even though Cousins has had success with him….Kirk has obviously aged quite a bit. But if I were a Falcons fan, I’d be pumped by the thought of Bijan Robinson and what he can do with Stefanski.

Thank you.
Apparently (no confirmation) Penix doesn't love getting under center. He credits his success in college to the shotgun and Pistol formations.

This obviously creates a problem for the play action game. We'll see where this leads...

Not that anyone cares, but I keep a close eye on Miami bc of some ties there.

I think they’re making a colossal miscalculation pushing for so many high priced kids right now.

Their defensive and offensive lines are gutted going into next season. Throwing around this type of cash to go from relatively average to maybe a Top 20-ish team seems like a terrible use of $$$ to me.

Mensah is an awful investment…..maybe if they were “just a QB” away….but that’s not even close to the case. They should be investing for 2-3 years down the road, not next year, IMO.
All due respect, and a you're a great poster, these people, like everyone in our government, dont care how much they spend because it's someone else' money. They'll just go get more from a booster somewhere. Without there being any collective bargaining or cap on this shit, it's the Wild West out here except they frown on gunfights.

Sounds like my beloved Falcons (be nice) are going to hire Tommy Rees as an OC and just get the whole gang back together 700 miles south in Atlanta.

What am I in for? Rumors are heavily swirling that Stefansky will resume the mantle of play caller but I don't know if that's preferable.

2025 College Football Playoffs Discussion (12 Team Format)

We have to keep the BigTen trend going.
Sorry to double-post, but you bring up a really good point. I mean, I don't agree with it, but it's worth mentioning. Remember in 2006-2012, and then for a while later, the SEC was the best conference because of their championships. And that was all we ever heard about. And I think it was Gatorubet, a Florida fan poster on here for a while, he said, "Just because the best team comes from that conference doesn't meant that that is the best conference." But ESPN and the national talk shows didn't listen. To be fair, I think the SEC WAS the best conference, but none of those national media folks would give any substantive arguments. Just, "SEC wins it, again."

Kinda like the LeBron vs. Michael argument. Jordan won like 6 NBA championships. LeBron... 3? Well, how many did Scottie Pippen win? 6? Was he also better than LeBron, then? (For the record, I'm not getting involved in that one - I just think the number of championships is a lousy argument.)

So, now that the SEC hasn't even been in the national title game in 3 years, what's their take? I'm sure it isn't "The Big Ten is better than us." I bet they're talking about their depth and how hard it truly is to win in their conference, and when they get to the playoff, they are just too beat up to continue.

With all due respect, because you have a good point. But...
1. I don't really care if the Big Ten trend continues. I just want Buckeye championships. Indiana, Purdue, Rutgers, Oregon, Washington, Nebraska - they're all the same: "Not Ohio State."
2. Fuck the cheaters and their 2023 championship.
3. I do dig that the SEC hasn't even been in the championship game for 3 straight years, though. But, to call back to #2, I'd have rather Alabama beat the cheaters in the semi-finals and made it to the championship that year.

That fucker would have to shower with bleach because he is a complete asshole!

The only MLB’er I met that was nicer than Sammy Sosa was Tony Gwynn, and I’ve met them all. Just putting it out there. He signed everything I asked him to sign and always remembered me by name. Rarer than rare.

I'm not sure why people can't just see these young men as young men. They make more money than the average young man their age, but they still make decisions like young men, and have to learn that their decisions have consequences. If a kid is working sales for say, Pepsi, he may have a non-compete contract that he can't work for a competitor for X amount of years. Its up to him to know the terms of the contract, but no one will care about that kid because he doesn't throw a football
Not to get into a legal debate here, but haven’t non-competes been ruled to be unenforceable in many cases? Hasn’t it been ruled in these cases that you can’t prohibit someone from being employed in their field?

Should semipro/college players be paid, or allowed to sell their stuff? (NIL and Revenue Sharing)

The payments of prior times don’t even Come close to the machinations of NI! Servitude. The bidding, paying, processes of the NIL program are what caused all I said. It’s like a cattle market.
Its always been a cattle market! Regardless of the money being more or not. People in the 80s, 90s, 2000s, etc have said that CFB was dead or they'd stop watching because of some reason, and it usually came back to unfair advantages in the sport. Which in the past was whispered, but it was still about the money. You don't think there was "payment servitude" in the past with SMU, Oklahoma, Nebraska, in the 70s and 80s? Come on now. Its just gasping and clutching pearls in a new form. Nothing is new under the sun

Agreed. I’m not siding with the players on this or siding with anyone really. Just pointing out this is normative behavior in the business world. You just dont see headlines for it every day.
