Look Who's Transferring Now (The Portal)

Well that comes down to a miss evaluation. They may need to re-examine the person who is doing the evaluation, and not go on who seems hot.

Not really. You'll get guys who show well on tape but still end up not translating at bigger programs . Unless you really believe that everyone else who wanted them "miss evaluated" these guys too which seems like a big stretch.

Onianwa was a sought after OL as well but ended up as a bust. We got what looked like a quality DL and OL at the time last year in the portal but unfortunately neither of them worked out. This is the risk that comes with the portal not all of these guys are gonna effectively translate at bigger programs

OL Devontae Armstrong (National Champion, transfer to Miami, OH)

As bad as the offensive line played, everyone should’ve got a shot. Hell, Diebler plays the whole damn team in basketball. Brothers always play good together and generally pick each other up. Now, we probably lose both. This team is starting to have very little depth at a position that already underwhelms a lot!

Onianwa may not pan out at OSU, but I’m not giving up on him yet.

OSU took a flyer on him, and he took a flyer on coming to OSU when he could’ve stayed at Rice and likely been a 2nd rd pick.

Blocking schemes were completely different and he needed to change his body composition. Everything I’ve heard is that he’s a great kid and amazing student. Probably one of those weird situations where he took more money to join OSU and cost himself a decent amount of NFL $$$ coming to OSU.

This is grand example of why you don't just throw blind money at every "top guy" not everyone is a fit

There are so many studs in the portal that could be instant impact players at OSU without braking the bank…

I put a lot of trust in Mark Pantoni, so let’s give him some space to work…..I hope. His job is more important than ever before.

I’ve got a list of incredible players that produced at lower levels that wouldn’t cost much.

I assume Mark Pantoni is all over this.

I hope….

Some people aren't gonna be happy unless we bring in 10 transfers who are all considered elite top 5 at their position guys.

OL Devontae Armstrong (National Champion, transfer to Miami, OH)

This one actually hurts me more than most…

This is the type of situation where you expected the id to wait and develop because you took a chance on him.

It backfired and the time spent on him isn’t necessarily a “waste” but it makes the program wonder if they need to bring in developmental offensive lineman. The brothers were all “OSU”….now, they’re both gone most likely.

Things are shifting underneath OSU’s feet right now a bit…..the culture is still strong but I think there’s a lingering stigma over the season and how “non-starters” can expect to showcase their talents and expect to maximize NIL opportunity.
