Mods feel free to split this off into a different thread i dont think we have one on QBs/QB recruiting…. but after seeing Fahey as the backup and seeing he’s listed as shorter than Sayin… I asked AI to compile combine/pro day heights of all the national title winning QBs. Is height the end all be all for winning nattys no but when it comes to a QB there’s some interesting things here

Every champion from 2006 through last season now has a real measured height, no gaps left. A couple of things worth flagging: Coker and Mac Jones are both pro-day numbers rather than combine numbers (Coker wasn't invited; the 2021 combine had no in-person testing at all due to COVID), so they're measured on a slightly different standard than the rest of the table — pro days are run by the school, and heights measured that way tend to run a touch generous compared to the NFL's own combine measurers.


Shortest: Bennett and Leak (both under 6'0"/right at it). Tallest: Lawrence and Coker (6'5½"–6'5⅝"). Average across all 21 QB-seasons lands right around 6'3".

Part of this was also spurred on by Sayin not really throwing over the middle or missing guys when he’s in a dirty pocket, or even a clean one…

Anyways I found this kinda interesting but it probably means nothing…

Well, at least they ran the read option with Bey. But I’m sure it’ll be few and far between. Scrambling is where I’m more hopeful.

I don’t think it will be the blow out a bunch of folks will want to see.

It’s not despair lol just a continued linear progression for Julian. He’s ran a few times but he’s not a slow kid. He’s actually got above average speed and frankly that’s all you need.

Anyhow, as you say let’s see how it goes but I have my doubts that we’ll include Julian in the running game.

Yo @BigWoof31 was that result expected last night? I figured Falcons and Miami would be looking #1 and #2 in next years draft but y'all looked pretty fantastic at Lambeau. They obviously have stacked some talent but it was supposed to be in disarray but all of the sudden Penix looked like a QB and they were dominant. Good for you as a fan.

The 2019 year was Ryan’s best third down team and I’m not surprised.

It’ll just be hard if Julian is going to not run at all. It doesn’t have to be for 80 yards. Literally go get 2 first downs a game.

A stat line of 20-25 for 250+yards and 4 rushes for 21 yards would be just fine. It’s invaluable to put that on a defenses mind.

But it’s not going to happen so no point in trying to complain about it. Julian for the most part is the same as he was last year. He’s going to do very well if he’s not bothered, he’s likely to struggle if he gets sped up, and he’s going to pass on easy yards on the ground at the expense of giving the WRs more time .
