I'm not sure how, but the Schott is in prime real estate territory and needs revamped in some manner. Turn it into another Larkins center for students or similar sports (Make it the ice hockey arena for both teams. And during the offseason, it can be a training center. Switching over from an ice rink to a different floor is a pain in the ass.)

And get something akin to a stand alone basketball/volleyball arena (A new St. John Arena). Concerts can go downtown or to the Newport.

I think he'll be much more interested in moving the university forward academically than Slapshot was. I don't blame Slapshot for that 9K freshman class (and he did get it down to around 8300 last year), but that needs to continue. Cut the acceptance rate from 50% to 40% over the next couple of years and get freshman classes into the 7000-7500 range.

Ohio State has added a longtime NFL assistant and renowned taekwondo instructor to its defensive staff.

Joe Kim, who’s worked for 11 different NFL teams as a pass rush consultant and skill development coach, has joined Ohio State’s staff to work with the defensive line, Lettermen Row reported Tuesday.

Kim spent last season at Illinois as the Fighting Illini’s skill development coordinator. He’s the second new assistant to join the Buckeyes from Illinois this offseason, following special teams coordinator Robby Discher from Champaign to Columbus.

In addition to more than 30 years of coaching experience at the NFL and collegiate levels, Kim is also a renowned taekwondo instructor. According to his bio from last season at Illinois, Kim “is recognized as one of the most successful taekwondo instructors and coaches in the United States, having produced over 250 black belts as well as several national and international champions.”

Kim, who worked alongside Ohio State defensive coordinator Matt Patricia in his last NFL job as the director of skill development for the New England Patriots, received high praise from former Alabama coach Nick Saban during a 2024 episode of ESPN’s College GameDay.

“He teaches players how to attack a source, how to use and read a body position for weakness and strength. He’s the pass-rush guru,” Saban said, according to ESPN’s Mike Reiss.

And no, I did not grow up a "rich kid". Didn't live in the "rich" part of town (that would have been Rolling Hills where I went to school). But I did grow up thinking you shouldn't judge people based on their net worth.

I think he'll treat athletics like every president except Gee. He'll leave it alone provided it doesn't lose money or force his involvement with any scandals.

What I find funny about the racist backlash to him is that our last two white male Presidents both had to be shown the door. The black guy and the lesbian did exceptionally well. The former left after his initial contract was up for the top job in public higher ed (arguably the top job in all of higher ed), and the latter was doing extremely well until she decided she didn't want to deal with the bullshit from Wexner and his wife.
