The Jerome Schottenstein Center (Official Thread)

Heck, where do I sign up for a tour of this edifice? What with all the hidden practice courts (must be several), for both mens and womens, plus training areas, locker rooms, juice bar for the athletes etc, it's a maze. PS, have noticed the food served during the games has improved. Some of the 'game day decisions' was pretty darn good. PS, when you pick the shortest line, you get what you deserve.....

Ohio State Women's Basketball (2023-24 B1G CHAMPS)

Each coach has his specialties. Granted. Thought the assistant coaches were supposed to provide the diversity (coaching bigs, versus smalls etc). Doesn't seem to happen in Buckeyeland. Yeah, McGuff is comfy. 13 years there (?) and his kids don't cause trouble, win consistently, and probably bring up the GPA for sports. Check, check, and check. Supposed to be a revenue generator, certainly not in the line of football and mens basketball, but should be a solid #3 am guessing. We watch the Fever, and would kill to have an Alialah Boston on the Lady Bucks. But watching Dorkas and Cotie transfer out makes me wonder. How much practice time do the Buckeyes work on the press? A bunch, am betting. How about the give-and-go to a big? Personally, would like to see more X's and O's during TOs. And a bit more fire and passion from McDuff. McDuff and his Asst HC don't seem to even speak during the games. And, during TOs, don't see the asst coaches running up to players to point out things to do or not. Sorry for the rant.

2027 GA DL David "DJ" Jacobs is a Buckeye!!!

OK, admit to my curiosity. Various things indicated that this is a 'surprise' visit. Being who I am, does anyone have any solid info as to how come? Certainly like the 'just because' answer, but keep wondering if he's just 'making sure'. PS, know it will come out well, but wonder how Pantoni and staff react to having a 'unplanned for' guest arrive...

BP Fantasy Baseball est. 2008 (Current Champion = Ahiacitian)

My rag tag bunch of non injured minor leaguers had the best week they have had all year

and they still got worked like @Thump mom on the 1st of the month.
I was ready for a cake walk against @Bucklion this week, and this son of a gun puts up a .960 OPS against me. Luckily, his hitters must have been facing his pitchers.

2026 World Cup (Official Thread)

I don't think Tunisia understands Goal Differential and tournament play (especially for the opening match).

If you're down 3-1 you might want to close up shop and not leak anymore goals. Then you lose 5-1 and now it's a (-4) goal differential.

Pretty sure any team that loses their opening match by 4+ goals have less than five percent chance of advancing (it might be less than 3 percent).
Maybe with the old rules. Just don't be one of the 4 worst 3 seeds and you move on with these new rules.

2028 OH DL Asa Burch (Verbal Offer)

Looking at this guy's list, does anyone else wonder about why a 'lesser' team would offer him after many of the blue bloods already have? Maybe a phone call or two to guage interest, but making a big deal about giving him an offer, knowing there's a couple dozen schools already offered that would be more prestigious picks? Maybe if a legacy recruit....?

Asa’s father is on Harding’s coaching staff. The more schools that recruit his son, the more opportunities that his teammates will have to also get recruited. Similar to what Coach Ted Ginn Sr. does at Cleveland Glenville. The more attention that their blue chippers get, the more chances that the other Tarblooders will have to get noticed.

As of this moment, eight Harding players have a combined total of 63 offers. With today being June 15, both of those numbers are likely to increase as more ‘28 recruits will start getting the green light.

In fact, when Harding had their College Showcase back on May 6, other schools throughout the Mahoning Valley scheduled their’s around Harding’s because they knew that Asa would help enhance the number of eyes in the area. Austintown Fitch OL Anthony Blalock also aided in that regard. He’s a monster!

FWIW, here’s a pic of a few of Harding’s players at Ohio State’s camp last week.

(l to r) Harding head coach Matt Richardson, ‘28 Asa Burch, Maurice Clarett, ‘27 Zay’vion Smith (Cincinnati verbal), ‘28 Makhai Brogdon, ‘27 Matt Richardson (Central Michigan verbal)

FWIW, Coach Richardson was Clarett’s running backs coach at Harding in the early 2000’s.
