Cleveland Guardians (2026 Season Thread)

Great win….i already ended the season mentally so this is all a bonus.

Props for sending this to game 5…..I don’t have high expectations but can’t wait to watch it.

These guys thrive every time I count them out.

They’re absolutely fucked on Saturday…..don’t even watch. It’s over.

Madoxx Davis will be visiting Ohio State this weekend instead of Alabama. He will still be making his trip for The Game in November.
LOVE. I know we're stacked at WR and Jamier Brown is a similar player, but why not have two elite slot receivers with blazing speed instead of one? I think Maddox can play any WR spot, but you get my drift.

2028 GA DB Tyler Boyd (Verbal Offer)

Tyler Boyd won’t be visiting this weekend but he will be visiting for the Oregon and Michigan games.
That works just fine, probably works out better just to visit those two weekends anyways. Visiting this weekend would be like warming the palate up for a well aged Bordeaux with a Barefoot chardonnay. It's still wine, but let's skip to the good stuff in this metaphor.

Big Ten and other Conference Expansion

Big Ten has '18 strong members,' no expansion talks, commish says

The Big Ten has had no discussions about pursuing expansion, even if the proposed Protect College Sports Act would allow the 18-member league to add two additional members.

Commissioner Tony Petitti said Thursday at Big Ten basketball media days that the conference, while "aggressively supporting" the bill, has had "absolutely no discussions taking place around expansion, and there haven't been for quite some time."

"This conference has got 18 strong members," Petitti said. "We're focused on that. There's lots of things that we think we can do inside the conference to continue to grow the position that we have with the 18 members."

The bill, which passed the U.S. Senate 77-22 in September and would go next to House of Representatives, would cap conference membership at 20 teams and require any school seeking to move from one Power 4 conference to another to spend three years without any conference affiliation before joining its new league.

The Big Ten most recently expanded by bringing in four teams from the original Pac-12, with USC, UCLA, Oregon and Washington all officially joining in 2024. In the 2010s, the Big Ten added Nebraska, Rutgers and Maryland.

Petitti is "optimistic" that the bill will pass the House and said it addresses "core things" around eligibility and transfer rules that will help college sports reach "a cleaner system" of operation. He said he respects athletes who take legal means to establish eligibility, noting that a number of Big Ten athletes have done so, but added that returning from a professional league to college crosses a line.

"We've just got to go to a cleaner system that allows us to compete nationally and just slows down all that," Petitti said. "The bill isn't going to stop every possible thing. That's not what it's intended to do. In areas like eligibility, transfer, legislating litigation around NIL, states trying to come over the top of the system, and the settlement, this will clean all that up, and so that's really critical."

Petitti also addressed the proposed 24-team College Football Playoff, which would eliminate the Big Ten championship game but likely create more playoff opportunities for his conference's teams. He said Big Ten coaches expressed that a system where some teams compete in a title game while others wait for playoff spots is not "the best football thing" to do.

"The definition of success in college football is qualifying for the CFP," Petitti said. "That is the clear definition. So what we're focused on is giving more programs a chance to have that level of success."

The definition of success is really making a bigger pie AND getting a bigger slice.

Fuck them kids.

Right Tony?

NFL Discussion (Official Thread)

Todd Bowles is looking pretty fucking dumb right now (going for the TD on 4th instead of a chip shot FG up 14 a few minutes into the fourth quarter). Then, after Dallas goes on a quick 99 yard TD drive, Schottenheimer goes for two, fails, and gives the momentum right back. If Jake's spirit is watching from somewhere, he must have lost his mind.
