2025 scUM Shenanigans, Arguments, etc.

Pulled up behind a car with a "Michigan" license plate holder, the lower part read 2023 National Champions. I wanted to get out of my car and scratch out the lower part. Maybe I'll start carrying a black tape dispenser and cover that shit up every time I see it. Is it June 5th yet?
If you need help on how to apply it i would definitely check out "Black Tape Project" on YouTube.

NHL (Official Thread)

These U.S. sunbelt state Stanley Cup match ups have to piss Canadians off but good.

What was it Miami vs Vegas two years ago? Looking at Miami vs Dallas this year.

I know I don't want to watch that shit and I'm an American.
Oilers are now up 2-1. They can score, and Skinner’s been solid in goal the last 2 games.

DE Mike Vrabel (All B1G, All American, All Pro, Super Bowl Champ, HC NE Patriots)

Mike Vrabel makes strong admission on how much he’ll be rooting for Bill Belichick at North Carolina and it shows his Ohio State roots

img_1883.webp

“It feels like he wanted to go down to North Carolina and try to recreate that,” Vrabel said of Belichick’s move to college during an appearance on The Triple Option podcast. “I wish him a lot of luck in the world, unless they’re playing Ohio State.”

Vrabel’s sentiment comes as no surprise. He played at Ohio State from 1993 to 1996 and began his coaching career as an assistant there. While it’s unlikely the Buckeyes and Tar Heels will face each other outside of the College Football Playoff, Vrabel made it clear he’ll never root against his alma mater.

As for a return to the college coaching ranks, Vrabel doesn’t see that in his future.

“Three years in college was enough for me,” Vrabel said. “And I took off for the NFL. I’m sure Urban [Meyer] told you—he didn’t want to hire me. He’ll tell you that, or maybe it was just his way of motivating me. Either way, he did a good job, and I learned a lot there. But I just felt like the pro game was where I wanted to be.”

Why the Ohio State football team shouldn't worry about Penn State

The Ohio State football team's toughest game on paper is the Penn State game. Here's why they shouldn't worry about it.

images%2FImagnImages%2Fmmsport%2F151%2F01jw45dq02c51zfhmg8s.jpg

The Ohio State football team will play Penn State for the final time this year for quite a while. This will be the last time that these two meet in the regular season until 2028. The Buckeyes were able to beat the Nittany Lions on the road last season despite a slow start.

Ohio State continues to dominate Penn State while James Franklin leads the Nittany Lions. He is just 1-10 against the Ohio State Buckeyes in his career. The only win happened in 2016, and Ohio State still made the College Football Playoff over Penn State.

This year, the game is in Columbus. While it is the toughest game on paper they will play this year, it's a game that they shouldn't worry about too much. They continue to have Penn State's number. Until James Franklin can prove that he can beat the Buckeyes, they don't need to worry.

The Ohio State football team shouldn't worry too much about Penn State

Just because the Buckeyes don't need to worry too much about the Nittany Lions doesn't mean that they don't need to prepare for that game. Penn State is still a good team, so Ohio State has to take the game seriously. They can't just waltz in and expect to win the game.

Even though Franklin hasn't proven that he can beat Ohio State, there is always a first time for things like this. Ryan Day will make sure that his team is prepared enough to not let that happen, and the crowd should be able to keep the momentum in the favor of the Buckeyes enough to keep that from happening.

WR Carnell Tate (National Champion)

One Ohio State football player is poised for a massive jump in production

This Ohio State football player is ready to have a massive jump in production this season.

images%2FImagnImages%2Fmmsport%2F151%2F01jw3y4yj859q99p90ke.jpg

Every year, people outside the Big Ten are surprised by production from one Ohio State football player. To them, he comes out of nowhere. Of course, Ohio State fans know about these players and aren't surprised when they have a high level of production.

This year, there is one specific player who is poised for a massive jump in production because he finally has the opportunity to get the ball more. That player is wide receiver Carnell Tate. Tate now becomes the second receiver on the depth chart with Emeka Egbuka in the NFL.

Tate has been one of the most underrated players on the Buckeyes for a while. He was a former high four-star recruit and played a decent amount as a freshman. Now, he is going to have a shot to get the ball a lot more, especially with defenders paying so much attention to Jeremiah Smith.

Carnell Tate is poised for a big jump in production for the Ohio State football team

The Ohio State Buckeyes will have a new quarterback this season. It will likely be Julian Sayin, but no matter who it is, Tate will be a great security blanket to throw to. He gets in and out of his routes very quickly and is able to create separation with ease.

That's the kind of receiver who can really help a first-time starting quarterback. He has a great catch radius and can make really difficult catches. With most other programs, he would be their number-one receiver. Ohio State is just so loaded that he can't get to the top of the depth chart.

Joel Klatt is taking another Big Ten team over the Ohio State Buckeyes in his latest college football rankings for 2025 season

Following the spring football period, Fox analyst Joel Klatt has another Big Ten team ranked ahead of the Buckeyes. Klatt lists Penn State at No. 1, followed by Texas at No. 2, with Ohio State coming in at No. 3. Oregon and Clemson round out the top five at No. 4 and No. 5, respectively.

Other Big Ten teams in Klatt’s rankings include Illinois (No. 10), Michigan (No. 12), Indiana (No. 21), and Iowa (No. 23).

Penn State returns quarterback Drew Allar along with many starters from a team that made the College Football Playoff last season. The Nittany Lions also added wide receivers through the transfer portal, including Trebor Pena from Syracuse. Additionally, Jim Knowles made a lateral move to become Penn State’s new defensive coordinator.

Julian Sayin’s performance—assuming he earns the QB1 spot—will be a major factor in determining just how good Ohio State can be in 2025. The defense may take a step back, so the offense will need to carry more of the load. While Ohio State has recently had the upper hand against Penn State, a matchup between these two teams in their current projected rankings would be highly anticipated.

Regardless, the Big Ten is once again shaping up to be a powerhouse in 2025. Even a program like USC appears to be trending upward.
Klatt is a click-seeking idiot. Don't click his ratings.

LB Alex “Sonny” Styles (National Champion)

The leading candidate to wear the Block O jersey for Ohio State this year

This player could end up wearing the Block O jersey for the Buckeyes this season.

images%2FImagnImages%2Fmmsport%2F151%2F01jw40wj058afcbjmbth.jpg

he Ohio State football team started a tradition a few years ago where players vote on players to wear the number zero jersey. They call it the Block O jersey, and it's usually given to someone who has been in the program for at least four years. Whoever wears it is one of the team leaders.

Cody Simon donned the jersey last year. The Buckeyes respected him and how much work he'd put in over the course of his career. This year, there are a few candidates who could wear the jersey. One candidate makes the most sense of anyone, and he plays on defense.

Sonny Styles is the leader in the clubhouse to wear the Block O jersey this season for the Ohio State Buckeyes. He is a senior linebacker who has done everything he's needed to become the best player possible. He even switched positions last season, playing linebacker for the first time.

Why Sonny Styles is the leading candidate to wear the Block O jersey for Ohio State

Styles is one of the best players on defense the Buckeyes will have this season. He wasn't able to play fast for the first half of the season because he was still learning how to play linebacker. He really came on during the College Football Playoff when he was more confident in the position.

Everyone on the Ohio State football team respects Styles, so it wouldn;t be surprising to see him get the nod to wear the Block O Jersey. Not only is a leader, but he's one of the best players on defense. That makes him the perfect player to don the jersey this year.

2025 College Football Polls

Spring update of 2025 college football SP+ rankings for every FBS team

In 93 days, it all starts again. From Week 0's Irish Farmageddon (Iowa State vs. Kansas State in Dublin) in mid-August to the national title game in late January, the 2025 college football season looms. And with transfer portal movement finally slowing down -- including spring moves, FBS teams have averaged more than 19 transfers this offseason, up more than 40% from last season -- we can finally take a semi-confident look at what's in store this fall. That means updating our numbers.

Below are updated SP+ projections for the coming season. A quick reminder: Preseason projections are based on three factors.

1. Returning production. The returning production numbers are based on rosters I have updated as much as humanly possible to account for transfers and attrition. The combination of last year's SP+ ratings and adjustments based on returning production makes up about two-thirds of the projections formula.

2. Recent recruiting. This piece informs us of the caliber of a team's potential replacements (and/or new stars) in the lineup. It is determined by the past few years of recruiting rankings in diminishing order (meaning the most recent class carries the most weight). This is also impacted by the recruiting rankings of incoming transfers, an acknowledgment that the art of roster management is now heavily dictated by the transfer portal.

3. Recent history. Using a sliver of information from the previous four seasons or so gives us a good measure of overall program health.

(One other reminder: SP+ is a tempo- and opponent-adjusted measure of college football efficiency. It is a predictive measure of the most sustainable and predictable aspects of football, not a résumé ranking, and along those lines, these projections aren't intended to be a guess at what the AP Top 25 will look like at the end of the season. These are simply early offseason power rankings based on the information we have been able to gather.)

Here are the updated rankings:

1. Ohio St.
