Ohio State @ Iowa, Wednesday Feb. 25, 9pm EST, BTN

nah just blame the coaching - it's far easier for lazy takes to flourish that way.....

Both things can be true. The coaching can be not good along with NIL not being good either. It's equally lazy to just excuse everything else because of NIL.

When it comes to Diebler so far, he's a coach with no figured-out identity of his own and it really shows with the team. The offense is usually just a mess of 5 guys trying to play 1 on 1 ball. which really only works if you have a absolutely loaded roster. Defensively the individual talent is not good but there is just no direction and cohesion as a unit, you can make up some for individual faults if you have a good plan in place, but we do not have that, the result is guys looking like they are lost a lot of the time and giving up the comical amount of wide open looks that we do. These are things that good coaches can somewhat mend with a good system and plan, now no coach is taking this team to the sweet 16 or beyond, but I don't think you let bad coaching off the hook just because Diebler doesn't have a highly funded roster. YES, NIL needs to get better. But the actual coaching by Diebler needs to wildly improve next season as well.

Agreed. This team looks really bad in some games because a couple times every year certain teams like Iowa the other night manage to basically stop the offense in its tracks & get them off their gameplan. It's happened in past years against Northwestern, too. Tilly not being able to go does impact the offense, he's a big who can pass and handle the ball, and obviously he has a bigger skillset than Ivan. The fact that Ivan was starting this game is a wake-up call for anyone who thinks OSU is investing in a competitive roster.

That's ridiculous. No one has quit on this team.

They looked undermanned and a little out of gas to me. We know the roster limitations they have, so having people out is a killer. And let's not forget, which you all seem to be doing, that Iowa is one of the better defensive teams in the entire nation - so having limitations on offense is a large hill to climb over as well. None of that equates to a team that Diebler has "lost" or quit....that's wishful thinking from those who want Deibler to fail.

Yup I noted that in Memphis. They are out hittiing their opponents but a lot of those hits aren't producing runs.

They were somewhat uncharacteristic of themselves today with the errors and a ton of strikeouts which they didnt have in Tennessee. I hope its just an anomaly and not any kind of change of character. Tough weekend that they are in the middle of but lets hope it is character building not defining.

Bemis and Reid have really struggled adjusting to D1 ball so far. Both are hitting well below the Mendoza line and striking out way too much. Might be time to try to shake the lineup up a bit and see what happens in those spots.

Situational hitting and pitching has to get better. Too many runners left on base and those back breaking runs allowed with 2 outs really hurt.
