Walter E. “Ted” Carter (Former OSU President)

An unnamed source came to the board of trustees recently to tell them of Carter's inappropriate relationship, according to university spokesman Ben Johnson. The board then confronted Carter about it, prompting Carter to disclose it and offer to resign. The board accepted his resignation.

The university statement said Carter admitted "he had an inappropriate relationship with someone seeking state resources to support her personal business."

The Dispatch asked the university to clarify the nature of the relationship that led to Carter's resignation, but it did not share additional information and Johnson said he didn't know if the relationship was romantic. He said the university will conduct an investigation into the relationship and any concerns about the use of public resources.

Johnson said the woman who had the relationship with Carter was from outside the university.

Hours after Carter's resignation became public, a spokesperson from JobsOhio, Matt Englehart, said the woman that Carter possibly had the relationship with was also the host of a podcast geared toward veterans called "The Callout." The podcast was sponsored by JobsOhio, according to Englehart.

"JobsOhio supports a variety of workforce initiatives to educate and attract veterans about the excellent job opportunities and quality of life in Ohio," JobsOhio said in their statement.

Krisanthe Vlachos is the host of The Callout podcast. The Dispatch has reached out to her for comment.

Carter has appeared on the podcast, according to recordings of The Callout posted to YouTube.

So, a bit of gambling in the MLS.

Major League Soccer has banned Derrick Jones and Yaw Yeboah for life after an investigation found they bet on soccer matches, including games involving their own teams, and may have manipulated yellow card penalties for gambling purposes.

Walter E. “Ted” Carter (Former OSU President)

I shared my thoughts about this appointment at the outset. Running a university is a tough job and it would be unfair to assess his performance after just two years. A big plus is that Ohio State rose to #12 nationally in research expenditures this year. Moreover, while there were a few concerning declines in overall international university rankings during his tenure, some of that was regained this year and the 2026 national rankings in US News and World Report had Ohio State up to #41 (from #43 in 2024). Personally, I'm not sure if this is a good or bad development, but I think a mixed bag after two years is not a bad outcome.

2025-2026 College Basketball General Discussion

It'll be interesting to see who's on the Big Ten all-Freshman team. I see 9 good or very good candidates - Wagler, Steinbach and Mingo I'm expecting will make it as they were all team leaders as freshmen. After that, you have Mirkovic (Illinois), Mills (MD), Frager (NE), Adams (MD), Amare Bynum and McKenney (UM). Mirkovic probably should make it, he averaged 13 points and almost 8 boards per game along with 2.5 assists. I think Frager tailed off - he only had 4 double-digit scoring games after mid-January, so I don't think he should make it & even then he was more productive than Adams down the stretch. I don't think McKenney was relied on by his team quite enough. That leaves the last spot to Andre Mills and Amare Bynum. While Mills scored more, he was on a much worse team and they needed him to score more than OSU needed Bynum. I would go for Wagler, Steinbach, Mingo, Mirkovic and Bynum for the all-freshman team in the B1G, but it's a close call for that last spot.

2026 tOSU Offense Discussion

I think that is why we saw what we saw in filling the OC and additional OL coach roll. They are keenly aware — or minimally strongly believe — the issue was coaching and not players. We would have seen more OL at least make visits if they thought the issue was really the kids.
Ehhh blaming the coaching only goes so far. At some point the kids gotta execute.

2026 tOSU Offense Discussion

Still won't stop the stupid narrative that Day was the issue...

Offensive line play HAS to improve against athletic fronts this next season.
