Indiana Hoosiers (2025 National Champions)

None of this explains Pat McAffee.
Because Pat McAffee was an insanely popular podcaster who ESPN picked up because their current on air personalities were getting old and stale. And McAffee has instantly injected youth into the show and increased their ratings with the coveted 18-49 demographic.

Maybe in terms of getting into the playoffs. But there’s something to be said for playing out of conference games against teams with a pulse. I’d much rather watch OSU vs. Texas than, say, OSU vs. the Florida A&M Rattlers.

It’s more interesting and also better for team development.

Harder schedules have bigger risks, but the last 2 years have convinced me that not just experience, but experience against the best of the best will force a team to evolve into the strongest versions of themselves.

Last year, OSU dealt with all sorts of adversity in the regular season, including playing 3 of the best teams and multiple top position groups, including Michigan’s DTs. They didn’t have that this year, and were able to go through the season without addressing the biggest issues with the offense. Last year they had issues on the OL and went through a bunch of iterations until they found their best one.

Also, off topic, but Lanning is actually who a lot of OSU fans think Day is. He (Lanning) is a very good coach who puts his teams in a good spot, but in the biggest game of the year, his teams don’t just struggle, they implode and quit.

For all Day’s weaknesses, his teams never quit. They may look dead in the water for a half, but will claw their way back. I know a loss is a loss, but it tells me he and his teams always care and have a will to persevere. OSU is building on a much stronger foundation and is often a few tweaks away from achieving their goals the next season.

Look Who's Transferring Now (The Portal)

From what i see there is dissention in the locker room, theres too many leaving from the norm. Something is going and i dont think it's doing us any good.
What's going is players are getting paid a lot of money to switch teams. And the costs are increasing every season. 1/3 of all FBS players are in the portal. And there are guys who are sitting on the 2nd or 3rd string getting paid nothing who are seeing the Buckeyes bringing in big recruits at their position or sniffing around the portal. And they can either sit and potentially lose their spot and make nothing, or go somewhere else to get guaranteed playing time and guaranteed pay.

This is why there's more parity than before too. You have a better chance at getting paid in college and getting drafted to the NFL as a starter at a G5 program than you do sitting on the bench for the Buckeyes.

They used to have some benefit. We don't make thr playoff in 2016 if we don't have that blowout win at Oklahoma. But in this era? I agree it's more harmful than beneficial

Do you have a Buckeye attendance streak going?

Do you have a Buckeye attendance streak going?

Such as:
- Attended so many Buckeye home games in a row?
- Have attended at least one Buckeye home game for how many years in a row?
- Have been to at least one Buckeye away game for how many years in a row?
- Have been to a Buckeye home or away game for how many years in a row?

I realize Covid may throw all this off so the 2020 Covid year, so you get a pass if you didn't get to a game that year.

They’ve purposely scheduled three easy games. But I agree with that approach.

We should get out of these big OOC games. Maybe with it moving to 16 we can afford to play them from a loss stand point but overall there’s no point to these games. There never has been.

Not to mention the lost revenue when you play the away game and the reps the back ups get when you play a cupcake.
Sadly I have to agree. With the B1G proving to be much tougher than anticipated, there's no real reason to schedule tough OOC opponents anymore. Sucks because I love these matchups but in this new world of 9 conference games and NIL evening talent disparities, there's no reason to take the risk anymore.

Hey I guess we’ll see. I just don’t think he’s physically like some of the last few WRs we’ve had going pro.

He’s sort of well rounded but not dynamic at one particular thing if that makes sense.

He will have a long career but I personally don’t expect him to break out early

Who are you talking about?
