I have a feeling that the AD under the aggy is sliding back to where it was pre-Geiger where it was more than willing to accept mediocrity in everything except football.

All the whining about the last strike of the game is ridiculous.

A good batter fouls that pitch off. It's WAYYYYY too close to take in that situation. Was it a ball? Borderline - the k zone shit has warped everyone's sense of what a strike really is - but ultimately, in a last pitch of the game type situation, batters should be more defensive in their stance and be looking to swing at anything remotely close to foul it off (Pete Rose was an EXPERT at this) and get a better pitch.

Maybe I'm just a hater but I think TCUN has a chance to be the first 1 seed out. I think they'll struggle with St. Louis (my pick over UGA) and then, if they win that one, I think they struggle against both Texas Tech and Bama (if either one gets there). It's the tournament so anything can happen of course but TCUN looks like the weakest 1 seed in the field to me.

I was going to say the same thing, I'm a big advocate for wrestling backgrounds translating into great football players because the proof is in the pudding. Love the Fickell comp! If you go back and look at Luke's wrestling clips at DeSalles, they look almost identical...wow.

Get this kid signed up ASAP and he'll at least be a regular 4-year contributor to the team, and that's just his floor imo.

Certainly, someone will prove me wrong :biggrin:, but the point being that just being on the field as a frosh requires talent, and knowledge, else the coaches wouldn't play you. Hopefully he'll continue to get better, and play better. Do so enjoy the way the CBs progress, with an experience CB on one side, and a newbie on the other, and then next year, the newbie becomes the experienced, and another takes his place.

He had some really tough assignments in man for a true frosh. I could name guys like Doss, Malcolm Jenkins, etc. if we lump them into general DBs and go back a ways. The best comparison in measurables and play to me at the same stage from recent memory is Okudah. He had some freshman moments but had the hips for the CB position despite his length, and he really blossomed his sophomore year. Hopefully we see the same with Devin.

Garrett had some real upside to me as a recruit. Had the frame of a LB but was a bit of a tweener in size between S and LB. Alliegro is really in the same general boat to me but with more proven production. I'm not sure what roles Patricia has cooked up for the two, but it seems like they would fall roughly into the same position fighting for PT. I may be way off but I will be curious to see if Patricia has some hybrid position in mind.

Yeah from what I've seen of him he doesn't seem likely to drop to 197, so he might just commit to getting bigger and be a small heavy like we're becoming accustomed to. And really that's a nationwide trend since it's been proven that you don't have to be pushing the weight limit to be elite at the weight. Still wish there was a weight in the 225-240 range but that's not going to happen in my lifetime it seems.
