Established in 1992, the AFCA Good Works Team recognizes college football student-athletes and coaches who demonstrate exceptional commitment to community service, academics and athletics. The program honors players who utilize their platforms to strengthen communities and support causes that are important to them.

From Ohio State’s news release:

Coach Day and his wife, Nina, established The Nina and Ryan Day Resilience Fund: Established with a $1 million donation to The Ohio State University, this fund focuses on research to identify risk factors for mental illness and cultivate resilience. The Christina and Ryan Day Fund for Pediatric and Adolescent Mental Wellness: Created in partnership with Nationwide Children's Hospital and The Kids Mental Health Foundation, this fund provides free "Day Time Break" curriculum kits to classrooms, teaching young students how to manage stress and boost mental health.

Off the field, McClain started Everyday Legends Foundation, a foundation started and operated by Jaylen McClain, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering youth and strengthening underserved communities. Additionally this summer, he put on the inaugural Jaylen McClain Youth Football Camp which focused on leadership, skill-building, and confidence for young athletes. He also has been an active volunteer in seasonal outreach efforts, including holiday toy drives and Thanksgiving turkey donation initiatives.

Scouting Report​

At 6-5 and 280 pounds, Smith does well both in pass protection and run blocking. On the latter, he has great agility and does an outstanding job getting to the second level.

Not only is Smith strong at the point of attack, but he also shows good bend and has the quickness to put opposing defensive linemen on the ground. His fluidity allows him to adjust well to moving targets, and he's shown time and time again that he plays through the whistle, blocking opponents onto the ground until he's told the play is over.

“I just want to finish blocks every play,” Smith said. “I want to be known as a physical player who finishes blocks. I want to get better at everything. I'm excited to get coached by the best at Ohio State.”

Depth Chart Outlook​

The transition from high school to college is tough enough for the majority of offensive linemen, but with Smith not arriving at Ohio State until June, the 2026 season will be one in which he develops and adds to his frame off the field. If that goes well, he could potentially begin to contribute on special teams as a sophomore in 2027; he likely won't play a significant role along the offensive line until his third season at OSU in 2028.

While Smith profiles as an interior offensive lineman at Ohio State, he has the frame to move to tackle if needed, if that's how the depth chart moves forward for more playing time in the future. That said, he’s expected to begin his Ohio State career at guard.

Mo Salah makes decision on incredible €20m per year contract offer​

The Egyptian King reached an agreement to rip up his £400k per week contract one year earlier. Originally slated to leave the club in 2027 that exit date was brought forward to the end of June this year.

Following a spell at the FIFA World Cup with Egypt Salah is now preparing to make his next move. At 34 the left-footed attacker STILL believes he's got a lot to offer at the top level.

Besiktas to sign Mo Salah​

Although teams in Saudi Arabia and MLS have reportedly been interested in striking a deal for the Pharaoh it looks like the legendary forward is going to stay in European football.

Turkish giants Galatasaray and Fenerbahce were early moves for a Salah deal but Istanbul rivals Besiktas have now swooped in.

It looks like Vincenzo Italiano's side will seal the signing of Salah sometime this week - once issues over bonuses and commissions are ironed out.

Salah to make £10m per year​

There has been some degree of surprise at the pay packet the two-time African footballer of the year will be given. It works out at around £10m per year - including bonuses - which is around HALF of what he was making at Anfield.

But Salah is content to take on the challenge financial shortfalls notwithstanding according to a report in A Spor. In fact the winger has TURNED DOWN bigger offers from the Saudi Pro League in order to seal a deal with Besiktas.

2027 tOSU Recruiting Discussion

Take DGG's money and allocate it to flipping Osborne or ensuring Tavien's successor is secured. Or pay the next karlos may, because those are ultra rare unlike running backs.

TN paid double for their HS rb, and probably have to at least double (if not 3x or more) their budget to retain current running backs. Never mind what it does across the board to actual college performers on their team and not just hopeful one like David.

Looking back, that's a bold gamble, and one desperate programs might make. And it will cost them a lot of millions when the rest of the running backs, and the entire team, come asking for their appropriate pay. Best case scenario this cost them them $10 million more per year on top of what they just offered this high school.

It's not a wise play for OSU.

OSU had plenty to beat Florida with Antonio Pittman. Clemson won it all with Wayne gallman. Those two outcomes were decided by trenches and qbs. OSU had neither.
